I restarted FFXII, and this is like the fifth time I've seen the cut scene after Vaan kills the rats, and the only thing I can think is that Rabanastre is a gigantic kingdom full of kinky homosexual men, and that Migelo operates the child buttsex slave ring...

A log just fell against the door of our stove. I don't know if I should leave it or go tell my dad.

lmldrummer 02-27-2008 04:13 PM

it's so cold here

damn

Sunshine 02-27-2008 04:16 PM

Its cold and snowy here too.
But for the next 3 days its supposed to be partially sunny and between 40-55 degrees.
I never thought I'd be happy about having THAT for weather, but in comparison, it sounds like heaven.

Drum Phil 02-27-2008 04:17 PM

So, nutjobs managed to get onto the roof of the Houses Of Parliament today.

Owned.

Sunshine 02-27-2008 04:17 PM

Some food for thought for you guys.
Your vicious sarcasm and snappy wit make me feel so small.

Seriously, I like how you talk about insecure people in a blog, in which you go out of your way to make sure everyone else knows how much better and smarter your views are.

I smell iron.

what's really ironic is that the entire rant is purely opinion -- and on the internet. So i guess not ironic, but hypocritical?

is that the one where the dude sleeps with the horse and all sorts of other shit?

BummerJonny 02-27-2008 05:22 PM

kinda

he doesnt sleep with the horse, he uses one as a masturbaton aid, but tthe main bit is a girl takes him back to the stable where the horses are, and he sees the horses as god. he can't get it up, and feels embarrassed in front of his gods. he doesnt want them to see that so he blinds them with a metal spike...
what's really ironic is that the entire rant is purely opinion -- and on the internet. So i guess not ironic, but hypocritical?
The article is about the fact that many people hide behind opinion as to protect them from anything on the internet. What many internet users fail to believe is that there is something called an "incorrect opinion."

I mean, I'll give you an extreme example here; it would be akin to protecting someone who says that he's a skinhead Nazi, wants to kill all the blacks and jews, and enslave women and strip them of their rights, because, after all, its his opinion.

Something like that needs to be called out.

Now while NO ONE has stated anything near as radical as this (I'm disclaiming this fact in case anybody tries to accuse me of blowing things out of proportions) the principle of the matter is still there.

What I want to see more out of this community is more ideas and stuff based on facts and logic, rather than just opinion. Flame Wars start because of opinion battling. If people stopped using it as a shield, then I think this place will get better.
Wow.
Nobody agrees with you about Keith Moon so you bitch about it on your blog?
Really?
That is not the issue. Its a dumb debate, I'll give you that  but really its the final manifestation of what I've been seeing a lot lately. Everybody is so god damned PC about everything. For years I didn't speak up about my beliefs because they might insult others or people will just tack the "opinion" sticker on it, making the whole point moot. This whole movement is really detrimental to our society.

So am I for group think and thought policing? Hell no! Totally anti-that. BUT I think people need to open up more to debate and exchanging ideas. This is a bold first step, but its worth it.

^^^Also, concerning the thread that I cited, I would have much rather picked one of the religious arguments we've had, but that would have taken too long to dig up. This is on the front page, so I picked that thread.

Maggot Dream 02-27-2008 05:36 PM

Really, the point is that your blog post is incredible pretentious, and you don't really follow your own logic.

Like I said, insecure people tend go out of their way to show other people how correct their opinion is. That kind of argument doesn't do anything positive for society, either.

Seafroggys 02-27-2008 05:42 PM

Okay, you got me, I have kept a secret so long that I feel I have to share it with you guys....

.....I'm insecure.

Now that I got that out of the way, is it pretentious? Maybe. Something needs to be the catalyst. Do I follow my own logic? Well, I try. I may not succeed all the time. But I want to get better.

There's nothing wrong with writing about these things, but doing it in rant-style doesn't accomplish much.

There's a reason people like Ann Coulter aren't respected by the intellectual community.

I mean, I agree with you on the PC issue for the most part, but there are better ways to say it.

BummerJonny 02-27-2008 05:59 PM

MeaninglessPhoto 02-27-2008 06:08 PM

sup guys?

I got a touch of food poisoning last night. I didnt sleep at all. And I was barely in my bed more than 10 minutes cause most of my time was just sitting in front of my toilet yaking.

Ive also seriously had it with Food Lion too. I called in sick and the CSSM who picked up was like "oh well, get ready for work anyway because there might not be a chance we can fill your shift up, but we'll call you if we do." I got to my work at 2 and my other CSSM friend was like "Gordie, what are you doing here?" I just told her that I got no phone calls telling me not to come in.

She had this look on her face like "WTF?". She stared at me and was like "erin didnt call you to tell you that we filled your spot?"

'twas major bullshit. I drove 15 miles, trying not to puke in my car, all the way just to go back home and sleep more. But I did have a good paycheck today though :p

fishbulb 02-27-2008 06:37 PM

That sucks, hope you feel better.

fishbulb 02-27-2008 06:56 PM

And holy ****, did anybody see American Idol last night?

This 17 year old kid sang Imagine by John Lennon and it is incredible.l

http://tv.popcrunch.com/american-idol-top-10-guys-david-archuleta-sings-imagine-video/

It's just incredible.

CombatWombat3 02-27-2008 07:31 PM

Kinda ruined the song, in my opinion. His singing, while technically good, was nothing special. He should have remembered he's covering a John Lennon song, not a Mariah Carey song.

fishbulb 02-27-2008 07:33 PM

True, true.

First time i heard it i thought it was pretty good but i didn't really like his voice but the more i listen to it the more i like it.

Mr Pink 02-27-2008 07:35 PM

I like Keith Moon...............

CombatWombat3 02-27-2008 07:37 PM

His voice is good, but he really did butcher that song. It's like people singing the national anthem (as much as I dislike it); they go way overboard and sing 12 notes where there were originally two. I hate it when singers do that, it's like they think that the extra 10 notes make it that much better.
