Well i know this, James said so himself that if Cliff were still alive, then the Loads (Load and ReLoad) would have bee released a lot sooner. Everyone else in the band was listening to metal and punk, while cliff listened to slower stuff like REM and so forth. And cliff obviously had a huge influence on the band. So maybe, we wouldnt have AFJA and Black Album, and maybe metallica wouldnt be as popular as they are. Ya never know.

DisposableHeroes 08-19-2004 02:46 PM

hell, he may even have died anyway of cancer from his smoking. Or had a bad acid trip and gone nuts

Iplaythegeeeeetar! 08-19-2004 03:20 PM

you know, i realise why cliff is so high up there in the ranks as a bassist: he was fast and really good at writing music. pulling teeth really wasnt,IMO, his best. his best, to me, is his solo in the metallica vault thing.

Triangle 08-19-2004 03:22 PM

I cant get into that Metallica vault thing... darn St.Anger cd in Europe not being shipped with a serial number...

YellowShirt 08-19-2004 03:34 PM

metal sucks my D I C K

METAL SUCKS ALONG WITH METALLICA i want to kill every member of metallica but i cant cus they aren't even a real band they just replace there members with others.... real bands have one lineup and when that lineup ends ITS OVER BITCH

i have a question regarding the new metallica, and dont get mad if its already been answered, but im not gonna read all 276 pages. also, this isnt to make fun of metallica or anything, i am a big fan myself. my question is:

why did metallica stop doing guitar solos and why does lars's snare drum sound so bad?

any answers would be appreciated, again this is an honest question, no harm meant

you're an idiot, you probably think 'simple plan' and 'yellowcard' is real music...and why would you make fun of metallica in an official thread, where you'll get made fun of

A LOT of bands go through lineup changes, many bands go through more than them

my only guess is that since hetfield got out of rehab, some of the material he and/or the rest of metallica have written was based on what James was going through before or during his time in rehab. and i think that would be hard to put a solo to... and the drums are probably just something lars thought went good with the song, but im probably wrong since im clueless when it comes to drums. well, this is just a thought.

when cliff burton died, metallica had to change their lineup. not becuae they suck, but becuase they lost their bassist (which wasnt their fault) so they needed a new bassist. so you are saying they shouldve just given up and quit after it just because their bassist was gone? if they quit, they would be a buch of pathetic loonies, who cant do anyhting about whatever happens. but no, they were strong, and continued being a band, despite the tragedy that happened. they hired a new bassist, and made great albums like AJFA and TBA. giving up just because your lineup changes is pathetic. you have to be strong no matter wht happens. and quit posting such bull****.

RIP cliff burton

So I saw Some Kind of Monster today. It was a good film that tells how most of st anger was made. It really explained why some songs were made lyrically (sweet amber for national radios that hassled them, some kind of monster for them lyrically making a frankenstein out of all the diff parts he mentions durring it, all within my hands for jasons departing of the band/james's way fo showing affection by not letting them leave). They had things about why there were no solos and i guess when the band was at that emotional state where they need like 2 therapists regularly i guess chemistry can be hard to come by. Overall good movie 8/10

Kreator 08-20-2004 04:52 AM

yay i'm back...

... what's the metallica song with the hardest rhytm guitar?

I belive that it was because they wrote the songs in a different way, i watched a documentary about st. anger and metallica (on all the other albums) had wrote thier songs in thier own time and brought them in for the rest of the band to perfect it. but for st. anger bob rock (the producer) just gave them some paper and told them to write, it was all forced out of them, everyone knows that thats not a way to write good music.

Kreator 08-20-2004 05:46 AM

Because Kirk "doesn't need to prove anything" (whatever that means.)

And Lars is a disgustingly bad drummer, who chose a bad snare, is all.

metallicambria 08-20-2004 08:49 AM
amen

can someone suggest more songs from metallica that are decent besides

master of puppets
fade to black
the one
enter sandman
the unforgivin

i know there is more, those are just the ones im familiar with:)
seek and destroy
four horsemen
hit the lights
metal militia
jump in the fire
and justice
blackened
until it sleeps
feul
i dissappear
outlaw torn
some kind of monster...kind of has a groovy feel to it

lars is a great drummer...when they were recording kill em all ...he couldnt keep time for ****...but in the 80's he worked at it alot and got better...but i admit...he's jus a 5'2 retard born in denmark...i think wat happened was that he saw james and kirk and bob rock detuning like...down to c and was like " a duhhh....uhh...let me give that a try guys....and then he jus wacked his snare with a drum key like a baby bangin on the ground with a spoon and was like yeah...pretty cool there dudes"
