Crap yeah! |
I listened to Swallow The Sun too. Thanks for the recommendation. I would check them out soon.
:chug:
You're welcome. Enjoy.
Crap yeah!
You actually like them? A lot of people give them **** because of the gothic element, but I really enjoy their riffs and atmopshere. Plus the use of two vocalists works out pretty well, and that comes form a guy that normally doesn't like female vocals (in metal). I'm looking forward to their new release. They have samples on their myspace, sounding promising. :) |

Brilliant stuff. Yes they've been posted here before. |
And I like them.
Good combination of different styles. It sounds a bit like Tool playing doom. |
Actually that's a good way to describe them.
I love the song Rebirth especially, I have it on my myspace page. |
Have you discovered any new doom related stuff lately Luc? np: Primordial - The Song Of The Tomb |
The new Virgin Black is pretty cool, it's basically a My Dying Bride -esque death/doom album with a funeral doom edge.
I also got this band called The Foreshadowing, they're pretty good. My computer is basically dead so I haven't been able to really look for any new music. Next week I'm ordering parts and building a nice high end PC though. |
Nice.
I've heard you talking about Virgin Black a couple of times, they're from Australia right? Foreshadowing, never heard of the. New PC ftw! |
I believe so. They're sort of gothic/symphonic/orchestral doom usually, but their new album is really different. I like all their stuff though.
btw: http://www.myspace.com/theforeshadowing Oh yes and I also heard a nice sludge band called Dystopia. |
omg i love The Foreshadowing! i was trying to recommend them a lot a whiile ago on some of my lists but it seemed Balls was the only one that looked them up. very good band
|
I found them out because they added me on myspace.
|
lol nice, i found them out through a blog. i bought their cd the next day
|
NP: Warning
/austin |
I'm listening to The Foreshadowing thoroughly now and wow it is fantastic.
I had liked them before but hadn't listened in depth. :p |
I'm listening to them right now.
Not bad. They really remind me of a doom metal styled Riverside, especially the vocals, but also the compositions. |
yeah they do show some Riverside, but also some Katatonia. which imo is a damn good mix
so far i cant decide which is my fav song but Ladykiller is near the top |
I sort of went on a downloading spree a few days ago and discovered a few really good doom, death/doom bands. Last night I listened to the first hour of Esoteric's The Pernicious Enigma, I'm not really sure what to think of it yet. Definitely needs more than one spin to take in.
NP: Warning
Are they any good? (I'm assuming you're talking about the band) I almost got Watching From a Distance the other day but I didn't want to get carried away downloading. |
Esoteric. \m/
Hell yeah. Great band, they indeed need a few spins to click. Psychedelic funeral doom ftw. I'm so looking forward to the new album, which will be a double album, coming out during spring or summer. :D np: Nadja - Breakpoint
yeah they do show some Riverside, but also some Katatonia. which imo is a damn good mix so far i cant decide which is my fav song but Ladykiller is near the top
Yeah, a good mix indeed. Nice keys too. |
Yeah, with the Pernicious Enigma being 2 hours long I decided to only take on the first hour/disc. I'll have to listen to the rest tonight. Good stuff as far as my initial impression, I just wish they would have mastered it a little better, ie buried vocals/guitar.
|
Well, that's sort of the point to make it sound so buried.
Get Subconcious Dissolution Into The Continuum, if you want a bit more clear production. |
I know, but i tend to get a bit carried away as a guitar player trying to pick out the riffs in songs. The vocals being buried only bothered me a little.

Are they any good? (I'm assuming you're talking about the band) I almost got Watching From a Distance the other day but I didn't want to get carried away downloading.
Yes, very good. |
At Giza has to be one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Jondur: Yeah, that song has fantastic lyrics, as does the whole album.
Are they any good? (I'm assuming you're talking about the band) I almost got Watching From a Distance the other day but I didn't want to get carried away downloading.
Yeah, it's an absolute essential. |
Watching From a Distance is extremely good, Rattle you can hear one of their songs (the best one) on their sputnik page.
|
Esoteric are my favorite FD band. I love love love Subconscious Dissolution Into The Continuum. Everything from the name to the production to the atmosphere is breathtaking.
|
esoteric are a snooze
|
Breathtaking, eh?
|
It's the sonic equivalent of a Lynch film.
|
Not breathtaking, but awesome; yeah.
The artwork of the new album looks sweet. I wonder how the album will sound like 100 minutes of new material. Plus two new band members. They always take ages to make a new album, but then it's good. |
Whoever told me to get Pilgrimage instead of Conference of the Birds sucks really bad.
