it took him long enough to release that tour. His 2002 tour (Back in the US) I saw him in October, saw the TV special around Thanksgiving, and got the DVD that Christmas. Its been almost a year since I've seen his 2005 tour, and still nothing?
Yea i know. I saw him in Sept of last year, Hands down the best concert ive ever been too. It has been a long while but remember he did just go through a tough devorce.

Relmar 09-26-2006 08:35 PM

Damn I listened to them non-stop for over 2 years. They're boring now.

Seafroggys 09-26-2006 11:46 PM

I didn't like the 2005 concert as much as the 2002 one. Even though the 2005 had a better setlist, we were much closer in 2002 and, well, he was younger after all. I could tell a slightly loss of vocal quality over that 3 year time span.

El_Goodo 09-28-2006 04:51 PM

I've got 424 Beatles songs on my Ipod :) ...and I just downloaded what appears to be a bootleg album called All Good Children Go To Heaven, it's got different versions of songs, live songs, and best of all an unreleased song called I'm In Love by Lennon on the piano from 1963 it's really great, also they sing the "She Can Talk To Me" part from Hey Bulldog by itself with only piano. A song called Goodbye by McCartney is also good.

Almost forgot...theres also an unreleased Sgt. Pepper track called Piece Of Mind which sounds eerily like the song Warning by Black Sabbath.

robo2448 09-28-2006 05:28 PM

Last night, I got the original bootleg tapes of the white album. All acoustic run-through's recorded in George's house. It reminds me of Acoustic by John Lennon, but a lot better. It's so personal and laid back. Awesome.
Meh, Pepper really doesn't flow that well, not for a c:rolleyes:ncept album anyway. I'll admit it does flow a little better than MMT but not enough for me to consider it a better album.
I think Sgt. Peppers is ok but a little overrated. I got MMT as a gift a while ago but I'm yet to listen to it.

Jacaranda 09-28-2006 09:12 PM

People only say its overrated cause it was number 1 on RS list. Before that I never heard a word about it being overrated.

Well its the only album with a song as boring as Fixing A Hole. It's the only song I have negative feelings about.

In other news I just bought the book Lennon Revealed by Larry Kane. I've just read through the first chapter, and so far it's incredibly well written the first chapter starts at the end...in well...December. It was a pretty sad chapter, but it combined a bunch of stories about it so well...there was even a perspective of one guy who was a writer who was in the hospital after being hit by a taxi on his motorbike.

Carne Evil 09-28-2006 10:41 PM

I gotta say, I agree with RS on this one. Sgt. Peppers was the first album I ever heard front to back and it was because I couldn't stop listening to it. Every song was fantastic, even fixing a hole. You may think I'm exaggerating for some reason, but I assure you I am not. I really, honestly believe that that album is the greatest album in existence

Yes.
Well except the last part, but the rest yes.

Carne Evil 09-28-2006 11:07 PM

Favorite album is kinda personal. I didn't actually expect anyone to agree with the last part.

Seafroggys 09-29-2006 12:46 AM

I remember reading somewhere that for years the RS lists and stuff would consider Sgt. Pepper's to be the best, then in the 90s people started looking at everything in retrospect and considered Revolver to be the superior album, which I find true on many 'lists.'

As for me, Sgt. Pepper's is fairly low, but that doesn't say much, considering the *** kickedness of the band.

El_Goodo 09-30-2006 02:31 PM

Hey...cheap plug for myself... you should all check out my song "What I've Learned," it's totally inspired by the beatles, even tried adding some backing vocals. www.purevolume.com/crowsnest

And to keep this post from being a total plug for myself...I got some more interesting facts from "Lennon Revealed" I just read that one time the Beatles urinated on a carpet at the Edgewater Hotel that they were standing on to prevent people from cutting it into pieces to sell as Beatles memorabilia. That made me laugh.

El_Goodo 09-30-2006 08:57 PM

And I've killed the thread.

Leper 09-30-2006 11:25 PM

Haha that happens too often to even get upset about anymore. This thread always falls into obscurity, gets revived, gasps for air and dies again. I don't think it will ever completely die though.

Did anyone hear something about more previously un-released Beatles tracks? I heard something about it the other day but didn't really hear the details...

Seafroggys 10-01-2006 12:15 AM

back when I first got into the Beatles (maybe 1999) I found a website with a bunch of lyrics of unreleased Beatles songs. I don't know the authenticity of it, however. No clue how I found it, or even if the site is still up.

I heard awhile ago about that big police bust were they arrested a guy trying to sell a bunch of tapes of the Beatles that he stole from Abbey Road studios years ago supposedly it includes a track of the Beatles performing Blowin' In The Wind by Bob Dylan.

magicbus 10-01-2006 01:33 PM

I'm listening to Anthology 3 right now. Its always fun to hear how songs could've turned out, or how they sound with different instruments or whatever. Cool stuff.

El_Goodo 10-01-2006 02:56 PM

I picked the worst of all three anthologies to buy...I bought the first one. Sure it's great to hear the early days...but stuff like the acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is ten times better.

robo2448 10-01-2006 03:28 PM

I only have Anthology 3. It's really good. I may get 1 and 2 eventually.

Seafroggys 10-01-2006 07:23 PM

my mom won Anthology 1 when it first came out in '96, so that's all we have.

El_Goodo 10-04-2006 06:51 PM

I just read that in 10 years McCartney gets his songs back...because of some legal issue...now hopefully he lives to 74!

Seafroggys 10-04-2006 07:02 PM
I just read that in 10 years McCartney gets his songs back...because of some legal issue...now hopefully he lives to 74!
Thank god. This should have happened years ago.

Leper 10-04-2006 10:07 PM

I have yet to buy any of the Anthologies :(. I feel ashamed...at least I have the book. I still haven't finished it though dammit

El_Goodo 10-06-2006 02:06 PM

That book took me months...

Yesterday I found the Beatles BBC Sessions in this great new music store called Blueprints..it's an independent store that has great discs that are hard to find in most places, and it's nice and cheap too. The CD is great so far the interview segments are funny, and I've gotten to hear some great tracks I didn't know the beatles did such as covers of Johnny B. Goode, and I've Got A Woman.

El_Goodo 10-06-2006 08:31 PM

Hmm..I just downloaded the bootleg...of what I believe to be John and Paul's secret jam session in 74 called a toot and a snore..it sounds like the real thing...and currently and before this post my post count was 2006 :o

Seafroggys 10-09-2006 01:43 PM

Happy birthday John Lennon!

blue3 10-10-2006 12:11 AM

Happy birthday! I always remember his death day but usually forget the birthday.. Anyways, I got 1962-1966 CD today because it was finally on sale for 50% off.

El_Goodo 10-10-2006 12:23 AM

A true fan wouldn't need that CD! Just joking...I just got the Paul McCartney and Jeremy Yellow Submarine action figure :) I'm awesome...oo and before the day is done...Happy B-Day Lennon...how old would he be hmm 66?

BludgeonySteve 10-10-2006 12:56 AM
Happy birthday John Lennon!
Sweeet. I forget if it was his birthday or death day last time but I had a good time with the Beatles and the Lennon solo and the pretending to be a hippy.
