I know dude that's frickin insane! I want to see his last one.

Dragon_Prince 01-15-2006 04:27 PM

I love Shine On You Crazy Diamond

jsut felt like saying it ^^ :)

nobodyblossomsforever 01-15-2006 04:32 PM

It's a truly magnificent piece. The intro is HELL long though, though that's Pink Floyd for you, they build up the suspence, which makes you want to listen longer. Wish You Were Here is also a beautiful song. Shit, I don't think I dislike one song on there. Have A Cigar, though there's a different vocalist, just seems catchy. Welcome to the Machine..well, I haven't heard that in a while, I'll have to listen to it again before I critique it.

standard 01-15-2006 06:40 PM

I might build a board kinda like that one Gilmour has going for him.. We'll see.

I got my account back too, yay.

nobodyblossomsforever 01-15-2006 06:42 PM

Congrats.

The movie starts out with half When the Tigers broke free which takes a little while, but when it starts getting into the actual album it starts to pick up some speed. Some of the best parts of the movie are the animated parts.
I want to rent it....I think I might tonight, is it good?
It can really give you a different way of looking at Pink Floyd as a band. I know a lot of people, and in some ways even myself, who became much bigger fans of Pink Floyd and the Wall after seeing the movie.

Different vocalist?

Thats not the only song Roger sings on that album...

Roy Harper sung Have A Cigar, not Waters or Gilmour. Both of their voices were shot from recording, and Roy Harper was recording in the studio next to them, so they got him to sing it.

MidnightRider 01-16-2006 08:54 PM

Hmm...I never knew that. He does a hell of a job though, that song is great.
Some of the best parts of the movie are the animated parts.
I love the animation during "Goodbye Blue Sky" and "The Trial."

Yeah I have a live version of Have A Cigar with our Harper. They had Water's on vocals, I always thought it seemed more like a song Gilmour would sing.

Really?

I always thought it sounded kinda like Waters.

Me too, it sounds just like the vocals on Welcome To The Machine.

DeusExMachina 01-17-2006 01:37 PM

I think Waters sang it live.

magicbus 01-17-2006 01:55 PM

It's definently Roy Harper on the album. No question.

Deconstruction 01-17-2006 02:16 PM

Guess who is getting Pink Floyd's "A Nice Pair" (PATGOD, SFOS) for 10 USD on vinyl...

MidnightRider 01-17-2006 02:49 PM

Nice, where did you find that?

I think The Wall is currently my favorite album, I watched the movie the other day and really got into it. The Trial is an amazing song.

Ebay....Yes it is an amazing song..

Delta_King 01-17-2006 05:14 PM

I got the Live Wall stage show for Christmas. Tis a Saucerful of SWEET!!

Riva 01-17-2006 05:15 PM

Everyone knows my feelings on The Trial.

And, you're a lucky bastard for snagging that vinyl.

What are your feelings on The Trial?

I really like The Trial, but one time I was listening to The Wall in my basement and I fell asleep right as The Trial started. I had horrible nightmares and I woke up right as the song ended and I was clutching my throat because I thought someone was chocking me. Other than that little incident it's been a good song though.

Thanks, I saw one going for 60 USD after I got that one.. Its the unedited version (sleeve). Do you have it Riva?

Nope, it's always been to expensive whenever I've seen it. Heh.

It's my favourite song from The Wall, and one of my all time favourite Pink Floyd songs.

It also inspired (I assume) another favourite of mine, The Chaos Path by Arcturus.

I once fell asleep to Hey You and had a really freaky dream. I can remember walking down to my bus stop the next morining and still being scared. Lesson: Don't listen to The Wall before bed. It is a really dark album though, especially the 2nd disc.

WelcomeToTheMachine 01-17-2006 08:34 PM

I fell asleep during Great Gig In the Sky, that was freaky.

im so pissed, i lost a LOT of my floyd on my computer, like 5-6 of my studio albums, and about 30 of my Floyd bootlegs, :(.

I can never totally fall asleep to DSOTM, although I'm sure I've listened to it as I'm laying in bed at night hundreds (dozens?) of times. I sort of just go into a trance-like state where my dreams and the music seem to melt together...I am always aware of when the album ends though, so I'm pretty sure I'm not fully asleep.

That sucks about your albums, maybe you should look into investing in hard copies (either bought or burned) of their albums...in case it happens again.

I fell asleep listening to The Wall once. Scary stuff. Especially Is There Anybody Out There?

Riva 01-17-2006 08:45 PM

I've fallen asleep to Floyd many times, but I've never been worse for the wear.

pigonthewing82 01-17-2006 08:47 PM

One really freaky thing is listening to Careful With That Axe Eugene when your really stoned, I mean the song while sober is already pretty freaky.

Riva 01-17-2006 08:54 PM

Hehe, I always play One Of My Turns to cheer me up, so I may be a bit weird.

Random, I know, but I was reminded of it because he mentions "his favourite axe".

MidnightRider 01-17-2006 08:58 PM

One of My Turns has a sweet solo.

Random question: Are Careful With That Axe Eugene and Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up the same song?

No, there is nothing weird about a song that includes a guy wrecking his hotel room/experiencing a mental breakdown.

Jim 01-18-2006 04:56 AM

I love the bit in One of my Turns when he goes crazy. The only bit that grates is the annoying chick at the start with that (I assume) fake american accent. But I guess we all know it death by now. And I've never fallen asleep to any floyd.

LF96 01-18-2006 09:35 AM

Is A Nice Pair that rare on vinyl? I've seen that for a few euros on ebay (the Belgian site, that is)...

magicbus 01-18-2006 10:46 AM

I can't fall asleep to music, but even if I did, I don't think it would affect my dreams very much.

Well it should be here within a week, maybe a less...I am off to the record store, (cds also) if there are any Pink Floyd albums, I might snag em. Later guys.

Broken Arrow 01-18-2006 02:59 PM

Nice usertitle Med, Love references are the way to go. Although I've only had one during my time on MX it was a good usertitle.

TheDMV 01-18-2006 05:56 PM

Sometimes if my mind is restless, I'll put on some soft jazz, or Classical Moods. Generally it helps in desperate time, but that sort of thing doesn't affect my dreams. Dark Side... is the only Floyd I think I'd really be able ot sleep to.
