Dr. Jake Destructo 06-09-2005 06:19 PM

Do it now! :D Then, when I get back from work, I could take a hack at the guitar section for it.

(Grr, work)

Killing in the Name. No Comment.

Thor 06-09-2005 09:15 PM
What are you talking about? I'm doing bass to this one...
Sorry, forgot about that. I'm still doing vocals, right?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-09-2005 09:19 PM

617-You're doing bass on Killing in the Name, right? When are you going to be able to do that? What about vocals?

We could do this 2 ways-Now that I have the drum for Killing in the Name, I could start recording it, then upload it so that you could finish the song, or you could do the bass, send it to me, I could guitarize it, then you could record the vox.

You pick. :D

Thor 06-09-2005 09:24 PM

I can record bass tomorrow, then you can do guitar, then I'll do vocals. I'll have it ready by tomorrow night hopefully.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-09-2005 09:33 PM
I can record bass tomorrow, then you can do guitar, then I'll do vocals. I'll have it ready by tomorrow night hopefully.
So who will be mixing all of this? I can do it if noone else was planning on it. I've become quite adept at using Goldwave and Audacity.

60% downloaded on Killing in the Name. :upset: Dialup..

DonMancini 06-09-2005 09:50 PM

Kinda out of topic, but holy crap I can't believe this thread still exists :o

Darkness 06-09-2005 09:52 PM

Rage definatly deserves their own thread, but I fear that rage has been talked about to death and there is little topics left for us to discuss...

6stringslinger 06-09-2005 09:52 PM

what type of recorders are you using?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-09-2005 09:58 PM

DoG-True. The only reason I ressurected this thread was because of the cover competition. :p

6 string slinger-I'm using a ten dollar computer mic. Our drummer is using a computer mic as well. Not sure about 617 or dunc though. :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-10-2005 04:11 PM

Metalhead, how comes the recording?

/hopes Metalhead is actually online

I tried playing to DH's drum track of KitN...It was hard, because there are quite a few subtle tempo changes that throw off my playing a bit. :-/ Hopefully the added bassline will even this out.

Mambuto_O'Mally 06-10-2005 10:37 PM

Has anybody updated the Covers thread with telling them about Vietnow?

Duncster 06-10-2005 10:44 PM

So I don't have the final drum track? Thats fine, I'll wait. I'm using a Line-in cable lol

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-10-2005 10:53 PM

Who's doing what for Vietnow? I'll update it now. Is it i like metal on guitar, Dunc on bass, Demon Hunter on Drums, and Metalhead 617 doing vox?

Dunc-post 908.

Duncster 06-10-2005 11:02 PM

Oh... So we are using the drum track previously layed down for BoP? lol
Yeah I'll do bass for vietnow.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-10-2005 11:17 PM

No, that's version 2 I think. I'll ask him tomorrow to redo it if it's that rough. If it's not too bad, just record using it.

I'll update my post in the competition thread now.

Duncster 06-10-2005 11:30 PM

Alrighty then.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-10-2005 11:33 PM

updated and bump'd.

So, will you be recording tomorrow, Dunc? If you have the time, why dont you lay down the bass on Vietnow and Bulls on Parade? That is, if you have the time. That way, Demon Hunter could have something to go off of for Vietnow.

Lateralias 06-11-2005 12:55 AM

Anyone know what Down Rodeo is exactly about? It's been the RATM song of the month for me. :)

Werny 06-11-2005 07:59 AM

I just assume, from the line "these people ain't seen a brown-skinned man since their grandparents bought one" that its about racism in early America.

Thor 06-11-2005 08:17 AM

Yeah, it's about slavery.

lunch998 06-11-2005 08:22 AM

"Make a move and plead the 5th cause you can't plead the 1st."

That's a great song.

Thor 06-11-2005 08:24 AM

Most people say that it is the best song off of EE, but I'm still convinced that Wind Below is the best. Read this and tell me the song isn't awesome.

Flip this capital eclipse
Tha vocal tone has got 'em sweatin' their own apocalypse
Yes, rebel of tha grains stand masterless
Tha masked ones cap one
NAFTA comin' with tha new disaster

...awesome.

lunch998 06-11-2005 08:27 AM

You didn't even get to my favorite part:

Tha slave driver saliva, one night power turns
Them devils mouths dry, now Mexico burns
So here they come one by one them killers of the new frontier
Occupy, causin' fear, come on

Thor 06-11-2005 08:28 AM

Well I could have posted the whole song, but I didn't. Everything in that song is perfect.

lunch998 06-11-2005 08:29 AM

You made me put on Evil Empire now.

Thor 06-11-2005 08:32 AM

Same here, you made me put on Down Rodeo. I haven't listened to that song in forever.

For me, listening to RATM isn't just listening to music. I surrender to it. :thumb:

lunch998 06-11-2005 08:34 AM

It used to consume me pretty much, then I grew out of them a bit. I don't listen to them as much as I should anymore.

Thor 06-11-2005 08:35 AM

All my band wants to do now is RATM covers, so I'm listening to them nonstop now. I take pride in knowing almost every RATM song on bass. I can play the first 3 albums and I only don't know 5 tracks off of Renegades. I can play all of their unreleased tracks as well. :thumb:

lunch998 06-11-2005 08:39 AM

That's awesome man. I started drumming when I was a huge Rage fan so I usually tried to learn their songs. Now I can play most of them, I think, though I haven't tried in a while.

Robdrummer 06-11-2005 09:24 AM

I'm in Metal_Head_617's band, and we play a lot of RATM songs. We can play Calm Like A Bomb, Testify, Bombtrack, Killing in the Name, and Bulls on Parade.

We are still working on tons more.

Mambuto_O'Mally 06-11-2005 09:33 AM

Down Rodeo is good, but is Roll Right amazing or what.

Robdrummer 06-11-2005 09:40 AM

Roll Right seemed like a rather mediocre track to me. Most likely because it just followed Wind Below, the best song on the album.

lunch998 06-11-2005 09:47 AM

I really like Roll Right. Especially the ending.

Endless Obsession 06-11-2005 10:28 AM

Now start writing your own music cause playing only covers gets you nowhere.

Jake_badass_bassist 06-11-2005 10:58 AM

Rage are one of my favorite bands, for me there self titled album is the best, tons of classic tracks on it..

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-11-2005 11:27 AM

That's impressive. Over this past X-mas break, I decided that I would learn the S/T in it's entirety. I stopped at Killing in the Name. :p

Any news on your recordings?

Mambuto_O'Mally 06-11-2005 06:28 PM
I really like Roll Right. Especially the ending.
I love the main riff with the feedback alot, but the funky verse part is ****ing amazing

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-11-2005 06:56 PM

I've been thinking a lot recently about this whole cover deal, and I am going to request a change of plans...Can we do Bombtrack instead of KitN? I know Demon Hunter probably won't have any preference, but 617, would you mind?

Here are 2 reasons
1. From a cover standpoint, I personally could do a better job on Bombtrack because there is lots of room to improv, throughout the entire song. Covers are supposed to be orginal, right? (See Renegades)

2. I like playing Bombtrack more. :D

If you guys would rather do KitN, that's fine, but I'm just saying that Bombtrack would be funner for me. We do have more than a month to get this done, so we could do KitN later on down the road, but I'd prefer to do Bombtrack instead. Gimme some feedback guys.

Mambuto_O'Mally 06-11-2005 06:59 PM

^^^
...Funner...
