I think Priest just liked to screw with their fans by putting a really crappy song on each album.
Painkiller has a really crappy song on it?

This is news to me.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-04-2006 09:35 AM

Well if you wanted to nitpick you could say Battle Hymn.

ThrashMaster27 04-04-2006 10:13 AM

To be honest, I've never liked Leather Rebel. But it's not really crappy.

Oh yeah, has anybody ever heard the originals that Priest covered? I'm quite interested to know what they sound like.

Neoteric 04-04-2006 10:17 AM
I think Priest just liked to screw with their fans by putting a really crappy song on each album.

Except for Turbo, that entire album is ugh.
Is Tyrant the worst song on Sad Wings of Destiny? That song is bloody annoying.

Riva 04-04-2006 04:41 PM

Johnny B. Goode is almost completely different in terms of phrasing and vocals.

Painkiller was making up for Turbo.

Nah, that would have to be Epitaph. I like Tyrant.

Billy! 04-04-2006 07:12 PM

Judas priest song names sound so different if you take into account that Halford is gay.

You've Got Another Thing Comin'

Love you to death? Ewwww.

Think of more!

edit: probably already done or over used but I haven't read any of the thread. sorry.

I'm the same with All Guns Blazing.

Deth 04-04-2006 07:28 PM

I love All Guns Blazing!

Apocalyptic Raids 04-04-2006 07:29 PM

It's a great track, but I just prefer the rest of Painkiller :p

dr._feelgood 04-04-2006 08:45 PM

The song Painkiller is awesome. I haven't listened to that album in so long.
The song Painkiller is awesome. I haven't listened to that album in so long.
Painkiller reminds me so much of 'where eagles dare' by maiden. With the whole drum intro thing.

Riva 04-05-2006 05:12 PM

I watched the video for it on youtube. Rob looks like an alien. :p

Apocalyptic Raids 04-05-2006 07:27 PM

I quite liked this blurb on Metal-Archives.
The Painkiller video to be found here is the one that was not shown on MTV - it has far more explosions.
:-D

Riva 04-09-2006 04:36 AM

Turned my thrash head friend onto Judas Priest by lending him Living After Midnight and telling him to skip songs 11 and 12. :p

Rrrrrrr 04-09-2006 06:45 AM

*looks up*

WTF

Turbo Lover I can understand, but Some Heads Are Gonna Roll?! That song is one of the best on the album, what's wrong with you?

NisseBagare 04-09-2006 06:55 AM

Eat me alive becomes really disgusting.

Wrapped tight around me
Like a second flesh hot skin
Cling to my body
As the ecstasy begins

Your wild vibrations
Got me shooting from the hip
Crazed and insatiable let rip

Eat me alive

Sounds like an animal
Panting to the beat
Groan in the pleasure zone
Gasping from the heat

Gut-wrenching frenzy
That deranges every joint
I’m gonna force you at gun point

To eat me alive

Bound to deliver as
You give and I collect
Squealing impassioned as
The rod of steel injects

Lunge to the maximum
Spread-eagled to the wall
You’re well equipped to take it all

So eat me alive

Actually i would bold the whole thing, but that woulnt make a difference.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-09-2006 09:50 AM

sexy avatar you have there nisse.

lovefury 04-09-2006 10:10 AM

It's almost impossible for me to say which song I love the most. Abosolutely amazing band :D

Deth 04-09-2006 10:36 AM

Damn right.

Anyone hear that their new album is a concept album about the life of Nostradamus?

But still, can't be bad - it is Priest after all.

Stormrider 04-09-2006 10:41 AM

Which albums were Tim Owen on ?

Deth 04-09-2006 10:43 AM

Jugulator and Demolition. I wouldn't recommend them though.

Stormrider 04-09-2006 10:55 AM

Oh ok...I might get Painkiller but besides that I'm not too interested in geting anything else.

Whats wrong with both those albums though ?

Deth 04-09-2006 11:00 AM

They aren't very good. Jugulator was a poor attempt of showing everyone that Tim could do what Halford does and Demolition wasn't Priest like at all. It's not Tim's singing that's the problem, the songwriting is so immature and weak that it is an insult to the other albums.

Demolition is pretty awful, alright. More repulsive than even Turbo, in my opinion.

 at NisseBagare's avatar

Riva 04-09-2006 05:02 PM

Jugulator isn't too bad, really.

It's quite clearly Turbo Lover and Locked In....

Deth 04-09-2006 07:53 PM

Jugulator just sounds really weak to me. I've only listened to it once, so I can't say its the end all opinion.

The Live album is okay with Tim though.

And Riva, your version of Living after Midnight is different from the US version apparently.

Riva 04-09-2006 07:57 PM

When I get home from Uni I'll recheck the CD.

Wow, that Living after Midnight is completely different from my version. It's a hell of a lot better as well.
Anyone hear that their new album is a concept album about the life of Nostradamus?
I've heard about this. Hopefully it means their lyrics will improve :(

Riva 04-09-2006 08:28 PM

Problem solved. I don't have Hot Rockin' on my release.

Deth 04-09-2006 08:33 PM
I've heard about this. Hopefully it means their lyrics will improve :(
It's a well known fact that Priest's lyrics are perfect. It's all about the choruses, and how can you beat Exciter, One Shot At Glory and You've Got Another Thing Comin'?

You can't!

Riva 04-09-2006 08:35 PM

It's the verses that have us all cringing from time to time.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-09-2006 08:37 PM

It's on AOR I was mostly refering to.

One Shot At Glory is teh pwn

Deth 04-09-2006 08:39 PM

Only a few songs make me do that, but I can deal with it.

Speaking of questionable quality lyrics:
NP: You Don't Have to be Old to be Wise

Nice dodgy-lyric choice!

Eat Me Alive has probably got worse ones tho'

:p

Deth 04-10-2006 07:43 PM

They can't touch Halford's solo work though. Listen to Locked and Loaded for the worst concealed sexual innuendo I've ever heard.

Riva 04-12-2006 02:33 AM

You guys want barely contained homoerotic lyrical content?
8. All The Way

Alright baby. You know how to have a good time don't cha
It's the way you stand
You're always attracting attention

Now with your hands on your hips, and a
Snarl on your lips
Your eyes wore the look of danger
There's a lion in your heart,

That's set to quick start,

To a glance from any stranger
You give as good as you get
No one's beat you yet
You take the lead
You never need
You know all the moves you've got to make

You take it all, you take it all the way

Ya never do things by half
You're a man with a reputation
You never shy when the problems fly
You can cope with any situation
You take the wheel and crack the whip
You never slip
You rule the roost
You always boast
Yeah you're lookin' after number one

You take it all, you take it all the way
Awesome song, btw.
