SmoovGroove 05-09-2005 09:17 PM

bonnnnnnnnnaaarrrroooooooooo!!!

Just picked up a pair of tickets today, even though the bands are sub par this year, its worth it for the experience. I'm hoping Stanton Moore is gonna pop up.

Sub par?!?!

To each his own.

SplitOpenAndMelt 05-11-2005 04:47 PM

I have tickets but I'm too lazy to go. Such a long trip. I'll sell the tickets for horribly inflated prices instead :)

Jam2Me 05-11-2005 05:40 PM

Yeah the tickets are selling pretty good on eBay...and pretty much everyone I want to see is coming near me with better openers and such...I'll probably sell my tix....gas prices are scaring me.

ChinaCatSunflower 05-12-2005 02:37 PM

Anyone going to Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY?
The Mule and MMW are gonna be amazing.

SplitOpenAndMelt 05-12-2005 04:47 PM

Yeah man, as it stands you can make ridiculous money off them...think of what it'll be like in early June.

Jam2Me 05-12-2005 07:29 PM

Yeah I've been watching the bids closely...I don't
want to wait too long because Bonnaroo requires some preparation...I figure prices will be peaking in 1 or 2 weeks.

SplitOpenAndMelt 05-15-2005 01:17 PM

OMG!!! Who went to the Trey concert last night? Holy dog sh!t, they really put it down! I almost creamed my jeans when I saw Mike come out, and I just lost my mind when they started to play. It's so awesome to see them play again.

Are you saying Traffic was a jam band or just that they influenced jam bands?

magicbus 05-19-2005 07:54 PM

I kinda want to talk about Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

Jam2Me 05-19-2005 08:11 PM

I saw him at Providence College....awesome awesome awesome.

magicbus 05-19-2005 08:16 PM
Are you saying Traffic was a jam band or just that they influenced jam bands?
That they influenced a lot of Jam Bands.

pegwedge 05-20-2005 11:53 AM

I'm really digging Drive-By Truckers right now. And luckily I get to see them in July at the All Good Festival. I know this has been asked but anyone else going to that? And also, anyone know any other bands in the same vein as DBT?

jpj 05-20-2005 12:28 PM

He's fucking awesome. I need to get more of his stuff.
That they influenced a lot of Jam Bands.
Oh, ok.

SplitOpenAndMelt 05-20-2005 04:22 PM

Cactus was just...Cactus. He played Old Habits are Hard to Break, Back on the Train(Phish), Waste(Wish, solo was orgasmic)<<<All duets, trey acoustic mike on electric.....WOLFMAN"S BROTHER<back to electric w/ whole band. Then some lame Beatles/I am the Walrus medley. Man you should've seen that ballroom when Wolfman's was pumpin. Everyone was dancing like crazed bouncing hippies! It was awesome!

JBJ 05-20-2005 09:24 PM

Does anyone consider any jazz (or any other similar genres) that they listen to Jam? Why or why not?

6Stringer 05-21-2005 10:51 AM

I just missed seeing Victor Wooten on Thursday, I'm so pissed. He has such a great live show and I missed it.

ambiguouslyjay 05-21-2005 10:52 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think The Slip is considered a jam band and they play a good bit of jazz but i dont know why they are considered jam.

SplitOpenAndMelt 05-21-2005 11:20 AM

Jazz was the original form of jamming. Improvisation plays a huge part in almost all jazz music.

Broken Arrow 05-21-2005 04:33 PM

Lately I have been digging Galactic alot. I've only been listening to bootlegs so if anyone could give me a recomendation on an album it would be much appreciated.

Wow, I'd be so bummed if I missed one of his shows. Was there any specific reason on why you missed out?

jpj 05-21-2005 06:43 PM

I saw Victor last month. It was so fucking awesome.

Badmoon 05-21-2005 06:57 PM

I really like 'Ruckus' and 'Coolin' off'...I think Coolin Off was their first studio album while Ruckus is their most recent.
Wow, I'd be so bummed if I missed one of his shows. Was there any specific reason on why you missed out?
I'm grounded because of my grades, meaning I can't go see shows till the end of May. I won't miss My Morning Jacket though, so thats still good, not as good as Wooten.

EDIT: On a side note, I really wish I had this guitar
