Has anyone here heard Skyclad? I heard them in a friends car and thought they were awful. Really generic, boring, monotonous and unoriginal. Are they power metal because I had originally heard they were?
|
Could anyone here please yousendit The Bard's Song by Blind Guardian for me? I only have it in video form, and without any programs or knowledge, can't convert that into an audio file. And I really want it as an audio file, for mp3 player purposes and for sharing it with people over the internet.
I'm looking for some aggressive (=non happy) euro power (choirs are very welcome), in the vein of Blind Guardian and of a less happy Avantasia and Freedom Call...
(I'm already familiar with Morgana Lefay and Brainstorm)
Iron Savior perhaps? or Jag Panzer. |

Ah, thanks :)
|
No problem.
How many Demons and Wizards fans do we have in the house?
hell yes!!! :thumb: BTW which live BG album is it ith the elf and the dwarf on the front outside the bard's tavern with the sign saying "Blind gaurdian live tonite!" that cover is brilliant and I want the album  |
No problem.
It's actually slightly different to the version I'd heard before, which I thought it might be. Good song still though, so thanks. |
They play a 4 minute live version of the song on the Forgotten Tales album. Maybe you have that version.
I can upload that if you want... |
I don't think it's live. It's a video version, which I have on DVD. It's more or less the same as Part One, just sounds re-recorded (and about 20 seconds longer, and with video, naturally).
|
Still a solo.
Meh, its literally a pop song in scandinavia, I was in denmark and they played the video for it a hell of a lot. |
anybody see the article in guitar world about how power metal is coming back into the picture becuase of bands like arch enemy, children of bodom, and nevermore.
personally i like manowar, arch enemy, and COB. |
I wouldn't consider Arch Enemy, Nevermore or CoB power metal.
Or at least, I wouldn't consider Arch Enemy, Nevermore or CoB good power metal. |
Children of bodom ain't PM.
I've been listening to a lot of Rhapsody lately...strange... |
CoB is PM.
|
I've been listening to Masterplan lately, good stuff.
|
I really don't get why someone would consider Nevermore or Arch Enemy power metal.
Been listening to Edguy's Helfire Club lately, kick@ss. |
I really don't like Nevermore's music, and I don't see what all the hype for them is about.
NP: Running Wild - Dancing On A Minefield |
NP: Angel Dust-Enjoy
I really don't get why someone would consider Nevermore or Arch Enemy power metal.

Because they can't think of anything else to call them. |
The closest thing that Arch Enemy comes to is melo-death metal, afaik :x
|
CoB is PM.
|
And you're **** right doing so. I have a question for you guys. I quite like power metal, owning Valley of the D.amnded by Dragonforce, Evil Warning by Angra and Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed and Unbroken by Hammerfall. I was wondering if there are some bands I should check out if I like them, cause I want more! :p

Well, you could check out alot of Power Metal bands,
Try: 1- Helloween 2- Freedom Call 3- Blind Guardian 4- Angel Dust 5- Avantasia |
Tad Morose rule! Anyone else like them?
|
The best Power Metal band are:
1. Rhapsody 2. Hammerfall 3. Blind Guardian 4. Sypmony X (very prog. but still quite power at times...) 5. iron Savior 6. Manowar 7. helloween 8. Kamelot (brilliant!!!!) 9. Dream Evil 10. Stratovarius 11. Dragonforce 12. Heimdall 13. Valhalla 14. Nightwish (powerish) 15. Sonata Artica 16. Within Temptation |

Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys part II Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middleearth (the lyrics are based around The Lord of the Rings:D :thumb: ) |
^
Blind Guardian - traditionally Nightfall in Middle Earth although all of them rule Freedom Call - Eternity Avantasia - both (The Metal Opera, slightly better in my opinion The Metal Opera - Pt II) |
Hey Angmar00, have you listened to the new Kamelot yet?
|
yeah I have it... ****ing Brilliant album!!!!
|
I liked the whole conept and all the reviews I've read so far are very positive so I'm seriously thinking of getting it. How is it compared to Epica?
Tad Morose rule! Anyone else like them?
I tried to buy one of their albums a few months ago, but it turned out to out of stock at the place I was ordering it from :( I do have an mp3 of them covering Abba, though. |
Anyhow, do Norther have any albums other than Mirror Of Madness, cause I have that one, but I can't find any other material.
Death Unlimited and Dreams of Endless War. Both are excellent, altough I prefer DoEW. |
