:D I just watched the last performance of The Band on dvd. Holy hell that was good :)
my old neibhor was a tatoo artist and has photos of giving the drummer from The Band a tatoo lol, i think that was the biggest celeb he ever got to do.

InVENTOOOR 05-04-2004 04:53 AM

Among middle class English youths rock has always been the mainstream. However you still get rap and garage **** all over the place due to the massive amount of chavs modern Britain has. However, old school rock is definatly experiancing a revival. However the problem is the rock world is so divided. Theres so many different genres, girls who like good music are almost impossible to find, as they all seem to love corporate driven punk bull****.

BludgeonySteve 05-04-2004 06:07 PM

^yep :(

when i saw them live they did a 45 min southbound. that was AMAZING!

The Who - Who's Next 10/10 (amazing, not a bad song here)
Eagles - Hotel California 7/10 (several amazing songs, but the back half doesn't live up to the first half)
Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced 10/10
Pink Floyd - The Wall 7/10 (some of it annoys me)
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon 10/10
The Who - Tommy 9/10
______________________________________________________

these are compilation albums i recently bought, not sure as to their exact names for all, so i'll just put the artist if i'm not.

The Best of the Moody Blues 8/10
The Beatles 1 15/10!!!!!! AMAZING!!!
ZZ Top's Greatest Hits 9/10

thenannymoh 05-06-2004 01:53 PM

I'm a metalhead, but one classic rock band that is often overlooked by metal fans is Supertramp. The albums "Breakfast in America" and "Crime of the Century" have amazing musicianship, and the songs are suprisingly deep and emotional.

Badmoon 05-06-2004 04:38 PM

Eagles - Hotel California 9/10

Well, if that's what everybody is saying you better not stray from the flock.

jimmypumpkin 05-06-2004 05:37 PM

"Who's Next"- 9/10
"Hotel California"- 6/10 (I can't stand The Eagles)
"Are You Experienced"- 10/10
"The Wall"- 8/10
"Dark Side Of The Moon"- 7/10 (I'm a huge floyd fan, they're possibly my favorite band, but this is possibly the most overrated album of all time, and I find it very boring and not interesting)
"Tommy"- 11/10 (this album is perfect if you ask me)

What did you think of the movie? (if you saw it)

My friend tells me it's good, but I haven't got around to seeing it yet.

:(

Badmoon 05-06-2004 06:25 PM

^ It's odd but very interesting. It leaves you wondering a lot, but so does the album. It includes each member of The Who, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Elton John, and it is supposebly Jack Nicholson's first movie he starred in also. I personally love it.

jimmypumpkin 05-06-2004 06:28 PM

Cool, I'm deffinately going to rent\buy it one of these days.

Yeah, my friend mentioned that it was somewhat odd aswell. But I loved the movie version of "The Wall", so I don't think that will be a problem.

VoodooChild 05-06-2004 06:51 PM
^ Hey, Voodoo, I just picked up Goo Phish the Phish biography. Have you read it? If so what are your opinions?
No, I haven't read it. I've read the Phish Companion though and that is trully THE ultimate Phish book. I suggest you pick it up. But anyway, I'll look for Goo Phish next time I'm at Barnes and Nobles.

Well, they aren't exactly Classic Rock, and yes they are fabulous and better than Zeppelin in my opinion.

Why don't you like them again? 9/10 people like them. It can't just be that you don't like Robert Plant's voice. None of us like his voice!

- Supposebly have a few claimed originals, that aren't original

- All other bands are compared to them

- I don't like how they play the Blues

- Supposebly satanists

- Their music, I just don't like it

Have you seen their lyrics? Nobody says they are satanists exept for people who have never heard anything by them exept for that stairway backwards thing.

Otherwise that all makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up.

BludgeonySteve 05-06-2004 07:50 PM

Cream - Wheels of Fire 8/10
The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night 8/10
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies 9/10

For that last list thingyamajigy and such.

Badmoon 05-06-2004 07:50 PM

Yes, I've seen their lyrics. I'm not saying they are satanists, but I do not care to dable in that subject.

Those are the only real valid reasons as the rest are out of the bands control, but yes, those are valid reasons. (p.s it's supposedly)
anyone like derek and the dominoes?
the better question would be "does anybody not like derek and the dominoes?"
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies 9/10
???! is that a self titled album or what is going on here? Afterall the band of gypsys is just that, a band(and if it is a self titled album it would make more sense to put band of gypsys as the artist).

VoodooChild 05-06-2004 08:07 PM
- Supposebly have a few claimed originals, that aren't original
Don't believe everything you hear.
- All other bands are compared to them
Yea, I guess that's true but I don't see how it makes them bad.
- I don't like how they play the Blues
They're not the best but I like it.
- Supposebly satanists
No, just no...
- Their music, I just don't like it
I'm the same with The Who. I've listend to Tommy, etc but they just don't do it for me.
- Are partly ran by myths
Yea, I guess that's true...
- Robert Plant's voice
I like it. I think it's one of the more unique voices of music.
- Their fans
The TRUE fans are perfectly normal, the ones that have heard 2 songs are retarted.
- How they are said to be the inventors of Hard Rock
Yea, I don't agree with that. There are other bands that contributed a lot more to hard rock than Zep.
- How they are said to rule everything having to do with the word "Rock"
Only the stupid fans think that, smart people know better.

Well, that's me....

So, you can honestly show all of those supposebly stolen songs, and prove that they are 100% orignal?

And that doesn't make them a bad band, it just makes me get more annoyed by them.

Alot of them were "stolen" but i think it was more the idea than the actual song, i'm sure they didn't just copy someone elses song, they might have done variations on it though and called it original.

Nice and bluesy, great drumming, bassing and of course guitar playing. And there's one part on the track "The Power of Love" (I believe that's it's name) that just blows me away. It's to hard to explain, but I'll try. It's a part where Miles hits the snare a few times fast, and then Cox does a fast yell, and at the exact time the yell ends, Miles whacks the snare and pounds the bass. And then Jimi goes into a great fast solo. It's crazy.

It's done live by the way.

The band includes

Jimi Hendrix - Guitar
Buddy Miles - Drums
Billy Cox - Bass

Edit: BTW, i love Plants voice!

Dire Straights. I don't like CCR all that much.

And I must admit Robert Plant has a good voice but I can't understand all of the screaching. It's like somebody cut off his balls on Houses of the holy.
