ah ok, i apologize:)
no prob... the other guy isn't a moron either, but metalcore is a mix of metal and hardcore, screamo is just a form of emo |
apparently they're Metalcore

"We are pretty much sick of people labeling us a "metalcore" band, because..we dont like metalcore. We dont do breakdowns and anything like that, and we just want to be a metal band."
:) How do you like these nuts, buddy?
ah ok, i apologize
No need to apologize to the dude, you didn't know any better. I wish people were more educated on what metalcore actually is, it seems nowadays whenever a "new" band comes out, people automatically label them as metalcore without even listening to them. That's bullshit. |

I agree, I think its because most NWOAHM bands don't fit neatly into thrash or melodic death or metalcore... and thrash and melo-death fans are insane genre nazis who don't want these bands included in their sacred genres... but I think NWOAHM is a genre unto itself, albeit one with a limited number of bands |
What can i say about Trivium.... they are the SH!T
Ascenandy one of the greatest releases to date: very catchy riffs, good vocals both clean and hard (takes a few listens to get used to but still very good), and i give Corey a 10 out of 10 for his solo's plus i think there are a few dual solo's thown in there so Matt is no bum with the guitar either. Fav songs from the album: Rain, Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr, A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation, Like Light to the Flies, Suffocating Sight, Departure, |
So I've been listening to ascendency a lot lately
I'm not a huge trivium fan so if you all could hook me up with some older/you're favourite stuff that would be great |

The new wave of american heavy metal already happened, a very, very, long time ago (think thrash). Metalcore itself is a stupid genre classification considering bands like Trivium contain much less hardcore in their sound than they do melodeath and thrash (though obviously it is still present, in song structures and vocal style). But so many 'metalcore' bands are so pathetically misclassified. A lot of them are mainly melodeath, with heavy thrash influences, and then hardcores song structures and yet get thrown into the 'metalcore' genre. There melodeath bands that had songs that could easily have been considered 'metalcore' today back in the mid-nineties, but instead of getting crucified by the scene they get respect. People need to really analyze the music they're listening to and consider the history of metal leading up to the bands before they misclassify these bands. |

MASTER ! MASTER !, was headbanging when they started playing MOP, pretty awsome show. Gunshot to the head of trepidation pwned so ridiculously hard live :thumb: |
