If I have to, I will go and see them at a festival.
but I don't think Festival appearances do justice to DT.
you need to excperience DT in a concert hal or something, and nnot on a field where there are 1000's of people who don't give a crap about the music, and they screw up the atmosphere.

Hey guys, some of you may remember that I posted a link to the Blind faith solo that had been recorded by a fan. Now, I just found a link to the "another day" solo. Its not as good as the blind faith solo, but check it out. Obviously its not the same guy that recorded the blind faith solo. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/robsdungeonmusic.htm

Speedy Fingers 02-28-2005 12:03 PM

Is anyone else here a keyboard player that just loves playing DT stuff? Cause I certainly am, can't get enough.

Off topic I know, but...meh.

Triangle 02-28-2005 12:49 PM

Ah man I cant wait for the new album and hopefully watching them in the UK.

Does anyone know how much the shipping will be from the US to England for JP's solo album?

Speedy Fingers 02-28-2005 01:11 PM

Why bother doing that when you could probably get it from Amazon or HMV!

MAthiAS 02-28-2005 06:57 PM

That Another Day solo was good, except the bends were a bit off.

BradyEB 02-28-2005 09:24 PM
yes please, if they came to wellington new zealand, i would be SO happy
Same with me! Someone needs to get them out here.

**** on a stick that sucks if it's true. The number of sales will be drastically lower than if it was released in shops.

Quebec 03-01-2005 04:30 PM

Hey guys, have anyone here listened to the sound clips from "suspended animation"? I've heard "jaws of life" and I'm downloading the "glasgow" clip. this is killer. Can't wait to hear the full album!

Walrus Gumboot 03-01-2005 05:32 PM

Hello thread
I have never heard Dream Theater, but I know they toured with Yes, who I know and love. Are they anything like Yes? Could you recommend a couple songs?

Mike portnoy always said that DT was the heavy version of Yes... and for the songs, check those out:

Metropolis part I
Voices
Lie
Peruvian skies
Fatal Tragedy
Home
Blind faith
Endless sacrifice

and many others...

thelittledrummerboy 03-01-2005 05:48 PM

Thnks, now I am thinking of taking the plunge and buying an album of theirs, considering I am a Yes fan, what would you recommend to get into them?

3rdplanet 03-02-2005 05:45 AM

Awake.

Awake or Images and words

back to the front 03-02-2005 05:23 PM

Images and words is a good place to start. If you like heavier stuff Train of Thought could work. I think Metropolis Pt 2 is the best album overall, but its probably not the best place to start.

BradyEB 03-05-2005 02:31 PM

Maynard's Dick 03-05-2005 02:55 PM

hey guys, I dont have any DT albums yet but I'm thinking: Live from Bodukan or one of the studio albums?

The Depressed 03-05-2005 03:12 PM

If you want the best representation of constistency - go studio album. If you want an incredible range of some of their very best songs with a few flaws - go Budokan.

Speaking of that, I've just finished watching the DVD. Disappear is an incredible song. One of my favourites by DT. Just thought I'd mention that...

Yaksha 03-05-2005 04:08 PM

woohoo i just saw on the dream theater website that their new album is coming out in a few short months!!! woot !!!!

Josh 03-05-2005 04:36 PM
