Anyone know where I can find some sheet music for Silhouette? That would be the coolest song to play.

Kafkastolemyslippers 10-31-2004 02:22 PM
Don't recall exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's on their site. I do remember that in the book it was just "Opet" and the h was added when the band was formed.
It was some sci-fi book from the 50s. I'll try to find the place where I read about it.

Kafkastolemyslippers 10-31-2004 02:25 PM
18 actually sounds about right, i dont agree with meshuggah at number 1, but opeth towards the bottom is about right. You should be greatful they are even on the list.

I bet arcturus wasn't even on that list, so seriously, the list has no validity anyway
They should be way higher than 18, I think, though I didn't see the list. But, yes, Arcturus should be there for sure.

Congratulations! Opeth is one of the greatest bands today. I recently bought their live concert DVD Lamentations and I just love it! They start off playing the entire ****ation CD and then move on to the heavier death metal of Deliverance and Blackwater Park. Check it out!

Lots_of_Licks 11-01-2004 12:45 AM

Hahahaha check out this stupid censor thingy. They censored D-A-M-N-A-T-I-O-N gggggaaaaaaa!!!!

Yeah I've downloaded a bit of their stuff now and I like most of it. I will eventually buy a lot more of their stuff, if only I had the money...

Lots_of_Licks 11-01-2004 12:57 AM

Master's Apprentices live just destroys!

S D Ness 11-02-2004 08:55 PM

Is the DVD really worth it?

Listening to "The Drapery Falls" --- so gooood.

Cardboard Headgear 11-02-2004 09:59 PM

Yeah, the DVD is excellent, not to mention you can usually pick it up for $12.

Norton_Ghost_7.0 11-03-2004 04:34 AM

I have an Opeth altar man. I take Morningrise with both hands and lift it to the sky like it was a gift from the gods.

Ivan_Larsen 11-03-2004 05:35 AM

Oh!! I love Deliverance in Lamentations! It's so freagin heavy!!!!

On their albums, i do not enjoy the song deliverance that much, but i've seen them play it live like 3 times now, and its probably one of the most amazing live songs you can see. I'm not sure how it works, but it does.

LordDargon 11-03-2004 09:11 AM

More like Slowpeth. This band puts me to sleep.

bucket 11-03-2004 06:13 PM

My friend calls them O-pathetic

:upset:

Kaiwaz 11-03-2004 07:43 PM

Well your friends are obviously idiots. Unless they can do better, Their worthless internet lives are pathetic...not Opeth.

Lateralias 11-03-2004 07:51 PM

Seems like you have heard maybe more of their slower songs... they have faster paced songs too ya know.

lmao Slowpeth? Listen to "By The Pain I See In Others" If thats too slow for you...you might be a serial killer. I suggest you format your Hard Drive, cancel your internet and seek guidance.

I pray for you.

Kaiwaz 11-03-2004 08:04 PM

I am finally back!

I took a break from the net to pursue recording the final songs for our first LP which is still untitled. I can finally play The Moor all the way through rythm, some parts are edgy but for the most part I can't get enough of playing THAT SONG! My other guitarist learned his parts really quick, in fact, it was like light haha! The song we have been working on the longest is "Stain Glass Window". All instrumental. It's not that long, maybe 12 - 13 minutes. We need to hire a violinist to polish off the final parts. Some riffs you can tell Opeth flows through my blood, not too obvious though...to rip off them would be sacrilege. For the most part the song is beautiful and doesn't sound like anything I have heard, which is a good thing :thumb:

GLAD TO BE BACK!

LeperAffinity 11-03-2004 08:36 PM

Welcome back...does your band have a website or any samples of the songs for listening?
Black Sabbath.....they created the genre, if it weren't for them there would be no opeth, because all the bands that inspired opeth would not exsist in their entity either
thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard, because there would have been a band that would have done it if sabbath didnt

LordDargon 11-04-2004 12:30 PM

Flynn, I suggest you shut the **** up and stop critisizing other people's "worthless internet lives" when you're using the internet, just like any one of us, to access MX.

If you dislike Opeth, why are you posting on this thread? It seems like needless trollery.

and I suppose a thread that looks like
"I like Opeth"
"Me too!"
"So do I! They're awesome!"
"Yup, I like 'em too!"
etc.
etc. has a point? It's a waste of time really... who cares if someone comes in to bash them, ignore him if you don't like it... if not, it at least makes it a little more interesting.

Flynn is a festive fanboy...

feelsoinvincible 11-04-2004 02:33 PM

it seems a lot of tool fans also listen to opeth... why is that? i guess opeth could be categorized as prog too, but they're hardly the same kind of music

Obviously it does have a point, seeing as how it got to 28 pages of intelligent discussion. If you don't like the band...fine. No one's forcing you to listen to them, no one's forcing you to come in this thread and look at their praise. Coming in here to say "Huhuh...they're slowpeth....huhuh" serves no purpose at all.

And who cares if Flynn is a massive Opeth fan? There are people on this forum constantly shoving Dream Theater and Led Zep down everyone's throats as if they're the greatest bands in history, and that it's required to love them. Everyone has different taste in music, and there's nothing wrong with showing your appreciation for a band.

LordDargon 11-04-2004 04:03 PM

Yeah it does.

I'll download that song now and see what I think.

the2stranger 11-04-2004 04:15 PM

on the Opeth dvd, Mikeal mentions that they are going to release the dvd as a live-CD

does anyone know when we can expect this ?
