Unfortunately they're the only store anywhere near me with a decent selection.
I know. I'm always very careful to compare prices before I buy anything from them. I actually came in during a Christmas sale and got a DVD box set for my grandfather for $15 cheaper than it was at Amazon.

My family is very good at stretching out our money.

Hitroshimite 12-19-2004 12:11 PM

Bleh. The only stores around me have high prices and a ****ty selection. $42 for Helloween's 'Better than Raw'? Sounds like a deal to me!

I did score an $8.00 copy of 'Holy Diver' though, so I guess I can't really complain.

Heh, two CDs ran me $33 there yesterday.

And, on a side note, I have Hall of the Mountain King from Savatage. Interesting, to say the least.

Scored that one for $11.

They have some good used cds. But yeah, their prices are crazy.

Steerpike 12-19-2004 12:36 PM

How could I have forgotten Rhaposdy?

(kneels down with broadword point-down and begs for forgiveness)

Arucard 12-19-2004 12:43 PM

Ahh, i tried Nightwish and Helloween already. Helloween = good, but i dont like Nightwishes vocals.

Steerpike 12-19-2004 12:47 PM
but i dont like Nightwishes vocals.
Maybe it's a matter of personal taste, but I didn't think that was possible.

Arucard 12-19-2004 12:48 PM

Maybe i shall re-listen.

Steerpike 12-19-2004 12:50 PM

What songs did you listen to?

Iron Man 12-19-2004 12:51 PM
Maybe it's a matter of personal taste, but I didn't think that was possible.
Either did I, I think she has a great voice. Anyway, I think female vocals give me a break from the norm, which is why I enjoy Nightwish

RiceMonster 12-19-2004 12:52 PM

I agree, Nightwish's vocals are incredible.

Hitroshimite 12-19-2004 12:55 PM

Tarja (from Nightwish) has an amazing voice! I was going to see them in Toronto last night, but my parents decided that he had to visit my grandparents instead

****in’ Jesus. Why couldn’t he have been born in the summer? I've heard Middle-Eastern summers are quite nice.

Steerpike 12-19-2004 12:57 PM

I'm watching their website like a hawk. I'll be in Maryland the month they're coming through, and I plan on bribing a friend of mine to provide me with transportation to that concert. The instant the tickets go on sale, I'm buying the best seats I can afford.

RiceMonster 12-19-2004 12:57 PM

That must have sucked. That gives me another reason for hating Christmas.

Edit: To Hitroshimite

Sure did :) I'm considering converting to Judaism, Christmas is too much of a headache. I'll take not having to spend time with my family over free stuff any day, thank you very much.
Has anyone heard the new Angra - "Temple of Shadows" yet? I have a few songs, it's fvcking killer. It has guest appearences from Hansi (Blind Guardian) and Kai (ex-Helloween). A lot of reviews I read really praised this album a lot. I suggest you guys check it out.
I got the limited edition (+ bonus DVD) in November and since then it hasnt got out of my cd player. The first half of the album features very strong tracks but in the second half the songs become slower and more emotional (including piano parts and sensitive moments). At first I was kinda disappointed but I soon got over it. All the songs are so addictive (=super catchy) and well constructed and have incredible bridges and instumental parts. Although a reason I got this album was Hansi's guest appearance (I adore him!) in fact I liked Kai's performance better. What song have you listened to so far?

Arucard 12-19-2004 02:47 PM

I take it back what i said about her singing, its very good. I mustve mistaken Nightwish for someone else, they have a woman singer.
/Feels gay.

RiceMonster 12-19-2004 06:25 PM

Hey, I want to get into some Edguy. What are some good song by them?

Steerpike 12-19-2004 06:33 PM

Everything off of Hellfire Club. There is not a bad song on that album. The Piper Never Dies is one of my favorite songs.

Arucard 12-19-2004 06:35 PM

After downloading Wishmaster, im just booked tickets to go see them in Birmingham in February, and am considering a Nightwish avatar....
This is the best **** ive hear in a long time. Well since i discovered CoB and DragonForce.

Good man. I'm still waiting for tickets to the April show in Worcester. I hear they're an amazing live band. Tarja apparently headbangs better than most trash metalheads.

Mekkalayakay 12-19-2004 06:41 PM

Anybody like/heard of Warmen? Janne Warmen (CoB)'s solo project.

Angels and Demons
Spread Your Fire
The Temple of Hate
Winds of Destination
Shadow Hunter

I could be missing one or two. Anyways, how is the dvd? Is it a live performance?

Arucard 12-19-2004 06:48 PM

Hey, anyone going to the DragonForce + Angra show in London?
It should rock.

RiceMonster 12-20-2004 12:45 PM

I wish I could go see them. I don't have th money to see any shows at the moment. Hopefully they'll tour North America when I do.
