Cool, I hear a strong Death (the band) influence.
ANYTHING Propaganghi is good. Supporting Caste is so so damn solid
I might try that out, been getting into some punk lately, Bad Religion really do it for me.

nevertoolate 06-29-2009 06:37 PM

hey if you need punk I'm your man. I've been on it since early 90's. Love my SoCal

Not really my style, but I'm pretty impressed by the recording quality. Where/how did you guys record the songs?

gaslight 06-29-2009 08:17 PM

Yeah those recordings are tight. Nice songs too, good riffing and all that. Vocals grate on me a bit but that's true for all that kind of singing.

Programmed drums yeah? Actually I'm not sure now, in the 3rd song they sound more live than programmed.

What brand?

I have an Epifani UL212. Never needed to run it at any more than 11o'clock from my head and it's light enough to carry with one arm.

4x12 is pretty unnecessary unless you're playing huge gigs and need a massive sound level because there's no point otherwise; having 4 speakers running real quiet isn't good for them or for the sound.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 12:31 AM

ok, why are both horse and mathjic banned?

(i'm guessing horse is banned for him to be using an alt)

is it an all out war on aussies?

Meatplow 06-30-2009 12:32 AM

nah a lot of people got banned apparently mods cleaning out the trash or something

gaslight 06-30-2009 12:34 AM

Brutal. Was there a spam attack or is it just a chinese fire drill?

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 12:37 AM

damn, i'm gonna have to create an alt then

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 12:50 AM

download my bands album and tell your friends

gaslight 06-30-2009 12:56 AM

I'll give it a dl.

Are you guys looking to get any real copies printed up?

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 12:58 AM

you'll read it eventually but in there it says

'This album has been made available to the public online free of charge, for a limited time, in the hope that as many people as possible will become interested in Celephai, and a fan base can be built before entering a proper studio to spend a lot of money on recording something professionally. Having said this however, Celephai are extremely proud with what they’ve managed to achieve at home with a few computer programs, imagination and dedication.'

i'll keep you in mind though when we do look at getting real copies printed up.

and we'll give you a thanks on the album liner notes

gaslight 06-30-2009 01:02 AM

Nice one, that's what I did with my first two albums.

If you ever do want real copies made up of that or any other project you're involved with just let me know, I run a home business doing CD printing/packaging for local bands, all high quality stuff, no minimum quantity, more than happy to set you guys up with something snazzy when the time comes.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 01:16 AM

will do, it will help us both

gaslight 06-30-2009 01:21 AM

Yeah I'm going to do really nice stuff for the next Tiger Panic album, and I'll do up the first two as well if I can rework over the audio and convince myself it's worth releasing. Plus my old band's EP will get a deluxe treatment once they get back to me about some stuff.
Not really my style, but I'm pretty impressed by the recording quality. Where/how did you guys record the songs?
i missed this post completely, they were recorded into a line6 something at home into cubase.
Yeah those recordings are tight. Nice songs too, good riffing and all that. Vocals grate on me a bit but that's true for all that kind of singing.

and this one i missed too.

yeah the drums were programmed with either drumkit from hell or another drum program the guitarist found

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 01:27 AM

i liked the first 2 Tiger Panics, you better not let me down!

gaslight 06-30-2009 01:28 AM

Nice.

Programmed drums are pretty much essential if you're doing home recordings. It's just far too expensive to get the set-up required for capturing live drums at an equivelant sound quality.

Haha I won't let you down dude. The third one is going to sound the best for sure, and I really like the way the songs are turning out. Much jazzier than the previous two and they'll be rereleased with slightly different tracklists also. I'm incredibly bummed that I apparently never saved the original .wavs I required for those songs and many of them only exist as 128kbps mp3 files so there's precious little I can really do to up the quality.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 06-30-2009 01:30 AM

sweet, what's the release date going to be?

i've been starting to get into some jazz guitarists lately....mainly Mike Stern and Pat Metheny

gaslight 06-30-2009 01:34 AM

It'll be before the end of the year but I can't set anything concrete yet because I haven't truly gotten any songs completed. I know what the gist of each track is but nothing is completely finalised. It's mainly working out melodies and extra sections I guess, then getting my head around the improv for some of them.

Meatplow 06-30-2009 02:22 AM

pat methany puts me to sleep

and i listen to really bad ambient and noise music

gaslight 06-30-2009 02:27 AM

Pat Metheny is a devil to transcribe, genius guitarist.

My biggest influences on guitar are probably Chris Mack (releases under James Orr Complex), John Fahey and Paul Dempsey.

Have a look at Ogawa Kaya on myspace (Tiger Panic top friend), cool acoustic stuff.

Meatplow 06-30-2009 02:39 AM

oh definitely, i admire the technical side of such music I just don't have much fun listening to it

i'm more of a black sabbath big dumb riff rocker with some wanky blues noodling thrown in there

gaslight 06-30-2009 02:43 AM

I don't listen to much Patty either but I sort of put if on if I want to get schooled through the ears.

I think I'll start getting tracks down for this new album tonight, I've been sitting around jamming out ideas long enough to start putting some shit down.

Fingers crossed this album will pay off the soundcard it was recorded on :p.

Marshall.

Yeah ive made my decision. 2 x 12 it is.

gaslight 06-30-2009 02:55 AM

I'm guessing it's for guitar? What head are you running?

prime possum 06-30-2009 03:39 AM

we got banned for posting in a rep party thread
which is a little silly because rep isnt even around anymore, so basically anyone who posts in a deleted thread should be banned by that thinking
