Does anybody like the song Unnamed feeling on St.Anger? I htink its probbaly the best song on the album(not saying much lol)
If the lyrics on that were meaningful at all i didnt get it

Squirrel 08-18-2004 05:05 AM

I like the Unnamed Feeling; good lyrics, the way James sings them is astonishing.

Zmev 08-18-2004 05:13 AM

They just seem so odd and out of nowhere

Zmev 08-18-2004 05:17 AM
THE UNNAMED FEELING
Been here before

Been here before couldn't say I liked it
Do I start writing all this down?
Just let me plug you into my world
Can't you help me be uncrazy?

Name this for me, heat the cold air
Take the chill off of my life
And if I could I'd turn my eyes
To look inside to see what's comin'

It comes alive
And I die a little more
It comes alive
Each moment here I die a little more

Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive
Then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away

I'm frantic in your soothing arms
I can not sleep in this down filled world
I've found safety in this loneliness
But I can not stand it anymore

Cross my heart and hope not to die
Swallow evil, ride the sky
Lose myself in a crowded room
You fool, you fool, it will be here soon

It comes alive
And I die a little more
It comes alive
Each moment here I die a little more

Then the unnamed feeling
It comes alive
Then the unnamed feeling
Treats me this way
And I wait for this train
Toes over the line
And then the unnamed feeling
Takes me away

Get the **** out of here
I just wanna get the **** away from me
I rage, I glaze, I hurt, I hate
I hate it all, why? Why? Why me?

I cannot sleep with a head like this
I wanna cry, I wanna scream
I rage, I glaze, I hurt, I hate
I wanna hate it all away
Bolded for eh

Squirrel 08-18-2004 06:01 AM

It's about fighting with people clsoe toyou and the inability to control it.

"Lose myself in a crowded room" is saying when he is around people he cant help but not be himself; "you fool .. " means he knew it was gonna happen but he doesnt do anything to help it.

The "i jsut wanna .." is crying out that he doesnt want to be like that and he wants to not be like he is.

Till_Lindeman001 08-18-2004 06:03 AM
Bolded for eh
I think the first one is probably James describing how he felt before rehab (sort of like loads of thoughts going at the same time) as like trying to talk in a crowded room (good description really) and the second is a progression of the song, it gets gradually more angry as the song progresses. BTW The Unnamed Feeling is by far the best song on St. Anger. :thumb:

Squirrel 08-18-2004 06:05 AM

I think i prefer Sweet Anger or Shoot Me Again.

Till_Lindeman001 08-18-2004 06:09 AM
I think i prefer Sweet Anger or Shoot Me Again.
They're also good songs, Sweet Amber and Shoot Me Again, as is Frantic, I just prefer The Unnamed Feeling, I suppose it's a matter of opinion really

Zmev 08-18-2004 06:24 AM

Still seem kind of odd lyrics to me commin from metallica and all but thats good reasoning

Squirrel 08-18-2004 06:26 AM

I agree; they are a bit odd taking into account the others theyve done.

But hey, thats St Anger for you.

Zmev 08-18-2004 06:27 AM

Twas different indeed...

...++

cliffburtonrules 08-18-2004 11:58 AM

but even though it wasn't up to their standards i liked that album for the most part...... like the first 4 songs were my favourite:
Frantic
St.Anger
Some Kind of Monster
and Dirty Window

Squirrel 08-18-2004 12:00 PM

I hate SKOM its SOOOO unbelievably boring.

My faves are - Frantic, St. Anger, Dirty Window, Shoot Me Again, Sweet Amber, The Unnamed Feeling.

its not that bad is it?

Metal G 08-18-2004 01:51 PM

hi all, i was a metallica fan before st.anger was released (as most of u r) and i have to say it completely took me by surprise, what happened to the solos, dynamic riffs and his voice CHANGED! but hey, st.anger isnt that bad. but i doubt they'll release an album better than stuff like kill 'em all. but to many of u out there you like st.anger more than the old stuff so, i guess ur in luck.

I still respect metallica, they (like nirvana) have changed music forever.
even some chavs like metallica!

Garage.inc is incredible (not original) but really kick ***! they executed songs like Sabbra Cadabra and Am i Evil? perfectly. but what i would like to know is why Jason left.

Grammar Fuhrer 08-18-2004 01:54 PM

I think he left because he felt like the rest of the guys weren't in it for the music anymore, they were just in it for the money. At least that's what I heard. He may've just gotten tired of Lars' crap. I'm not entirely sure. I'm a huge fan of Metallica and I was disappointed with St. Anger, but it's still a lot better than most of the crap people are putting out these days. Maybe the next album will be better.

Metal G 08-18-2004 01:56 PM

As to the lyrics in st.anger, well most of u realise they actually mean something, and tell you something. i think James' been quite smart there

+ its nice to see a front man with a great sense of humour

Metal G 08-18-2004 01:57 PM

^^
well theres millions of rumours bout' james so, i guess we'll only know if he tells us.

The Bell Tolls 08-18-2004 02:34 PM
That's a coincidence, I'm a 350lb trucker. :naughty:
Would i get to see metallica? :naughty:

Squirrel 08-18-2004 02:52 PM
its not that bad is it?
.. the song ..

Jason never fitted in; even in live performances he seems ignored and on hte Black album DVD no one seems to give their attention to him. I dont think they gelled too well; James says he just couldnt find a common ground with him to get to properly know him and Lars ... proabably just an arse more than usual.

iliketoplaydrums10111 08-18-2004 03:05 PM

Blackened is a good song, did i spell that right?

Squirrel 08-18-2004 03:08 PM

Yup, you did indeed.

i think its actually because Metallica didnt really treat him very well, the band themselves admit this
i think its actually because Metallica didnt really treat him very well, the band themselves admit this
They didnt treat him well and other things. It is talked about in SKOM and MTV icon. In Icon, he said he wanted to take a year off to work on his Echobrain project, but Metallica said no. And he told himself, he needed to stand up for his morals, so he left.

I guess maybe because he just played bass, as opposed to being vocal about issue (ie napster) or becoming an alcoholic...he didn't have the big personality that the rest of them do.

Thats what sucked, he was a great live performer too, what with all the solo parts and the singing whiplash.

He was cool too

NoLeafClover54 08-18-2004 06:28 PM

I agree, he was very cool. I love his back up voices on the songs on S&M, listen the the Outlaw Torn refrain if u have the cd its so cool

BTW i heard that after their madly in agner tour their going back in the studio to make a new album coming out june 2005 has anyone else heard that
