The Sandman 12-22-2005 05:48 PM

I can't imagine that they wouldn't play in New York...

Or maybe it's all a biiig conspiracy.

<_<

>_>

TojesDolan 12-22-2005 06:30 PM

Yeah so a question.

Does anyone know the opening chords for "Beneath the mire"?

I have the ones showed in the GP file:

E--5--4--7--
B--3--3--3--
G--2--2--4--

But they just don't sound quite right.

I think it might be an octave higher than it should or wrong finger position.

Darkness 12-22-2005 07:20 PM

Are you in the proper tuning?

RouteOne 12-22-2005 07:40 PM
 Hahaha...nice. :chug:

I hope they come to NY.
They came to saratoga winners if you know where that is...

The whole album is in open Dmin, amirite?

DADFAD?
EDIT: six thousand. :)

Glad I made it in the Opeth thread.

Stormrider 12-22-2005 07:52 PM
It's in open D minor tuning. If you're in standard you may have a lot of trouble playing
Yes im in proper tuning. Its going better now. Im practicing only the first page of the tab for now. One part at a time.

Deth 12-22-2005 09:14 PM

It's annoying me so much that I can't get new tabs now.

It's not entirely in DADFAD. Most is... I think.

Does anyone else play in open tunings? I find DADFAD along with other minor tunings amusing. My classical guitar hasn't been in standard for ages it seems. I just tuned it to EGBGBE.

My favorites are CGCGCEb, DGBbGBbD, and DADFAD. Nick Drake started me on messing with my strings. When I heard Opeth used open Dm I was all

I suggest trying open tunings if you haven't already.

Hmm...that's way to far from were I live anyway's.

When was it?

Toaster 12-22-2005 09:53 PM

Beneath the Mire is in standard tuning. Those chord shapes weren't right.

If you mean powertabs and all...you can get them from metaltabs.com. Thats where I got mine.

If they come to NYC I'm so there. Man that would be sweet to see them live.

I've been practicing The Forest Of October the past couple of days. I've listened to it so many times I'm almost sick of it. I can play the guitars up until the solo at around 6:00. Still working on the solo, and some parts with guitar II a few verses before it. Any guitarists in here try it yet?

vashts80 12-24-2005 12:25 PM

I'm working on Advent and BRI on bass when I go back into standard tuning (I'm in D standard right now) :x

I'm done with The Forest Of October for now, coincidentally,
I just tuned down to DGCFAD, I got bored and want to learn the rest of The Flesh And The Power It Holds. I love playing the intro.

vashts80 12-24-2005 01:20 PM

Flesh is a fun song to play, but Philosopher is funner since the extended outro provides more room for wankage on bass :D

I've learned bits and pieces of some Death songs, like I know the first 30 seconds of Pull the Plug, but I know Flesh and Philosopher in full

Darkness 12-24-2005 04:46 PM

Mmmmm Damnation... :)

Very good Christmas album indeed. :D

CaptainWaits 12-24-2005 04:58 PM
..I suggest deleting that post, as it's not even kind of Opeth related.

And if you know it's against the rules, why would you do it?
Cause I have to start it off somehow:eek:

CaptainWaits 12-24-2005 05:07 PM

Did it just for you bud!

Darkness 12-24-2005 05:08 PM

Thanks. :thumb:

I'll delete mine to.

Panvium 12-24-2005 07:23 PM

Well i get Deiliverance tomorrow. I've Heard the song Deliverance and i liked it but haven't heard the rest of the cd. Hows the rest of the cd?

Shadius 12-24-2005 07:33 PM

A Fair Judgement is a brilliant clean vocals only song with heavy and soft guitars. That along with the song Deliverance were my highlights, Masters Apprentice is a cool heavy song too. I havn't listened to Deliverance as much as other Opeth albums, really.

Det_Nosnip 12-24-2005 08:26 PM

Wreath rules as well.

Well, it was a thread in the pit and the link was to him performing 7 octaves, and on his website he did the full 8. I know I look like a moron for not being able to provide the links, but take my word for it.

Moses 12-24-2005 09:45 PM

I think Ghost of Perdition has the coolest intro ever. Not ever but I'm just addicted to it right now.

Deth 12-24-2005 09:48 PM

It is guitar right, that little couple of seconds thing?

Moses 12-24-2005 09:51 PM

I believe so... All I know is it's lathered with reverb or somthing.

Deth 12-24-2005 09:52 PM

Yeah, and I think it's strumming opposed to piano chords.

Really really good, the highlights are probably the acoustic part of Master's Apprentices and the entireity of A Fair Judgement.

Darkness 12-25-2005 11:02 AM

Merry Christmas guys...

My presant was a good hacking... but I got some other cool stuff, like an Opeth shirt. :p

Killtacular 12-25-2005 01:19 PM

Guess who got Lamentations?

With my Christmas money I'mma buy Damnation and some ( )peth shirts.

I also bought Deliverance on eBay for 11 dollars.

Best. Deal. Ever.

Except for Blackwater Park for 6.

My god, do I kick ass.

 That's cool. You made out like a bandit! Just never buy from Amazon.com. I ordered Focus by Cynic 3 months ago, and they still haven't even sent it out yet! I only paid 4 bucks for Orchid though. Some dip**** with no taste pawned it off.

ok lateralus 12-25-2005 01:52 PM

I got Lamentations today, cant wait to watch it

Aw3someman 12-25-2005 01:54 PM

Hey guys. I was looking to expand the type of music i listen to and i decided to give Opeth a shot. Any suggestions on a single or an album that I should check out. (preferrably singles.)

ok lateralus 12-25-2005 02:04 PM

single? why not get an album?

Moses 12-25-2005 02:04 PM

Well the song that got me into them was The Drapery Falls. Then the song Blackwater Park. Both songs are on the BWP album and that would be the best one to start out with and that's what most people will tell you.
