Not big in the grand scheme of things, but its the biggest in england in 24 years and the only one i've ever felt this far north. |
i was semi-conscious on the floor outside brighton station when the quake hit.

Not big in the grand scheme of things, but its the biggest in england in 24 years and the only one i've ever felt this far north.
I grew up in So California, and went through some pretty bad quakes. The last big one I was there for was the Northridge quake. Kicked the entire region in the balls for months. It was a 7.0. More that seven of the after shocks were above 5.0. At least out there, buildings built since the 50s are "earthqauke proof" which really means the building will get hammered but it should not kill you, and other than the Oak Ridge Apartment Building in the valley that had its second and third floor crush the first floor and around 15-20 were squished to death, fatalities were pretty low. In Europe there are thousands of unreinforced brick buildings that are gonna come crashing down at anything more than a 5.5 and death will be wholesale. |
Theres only been one injury reported so far and thats a kid in his attic room had his pelvis crushed.
Its pretty weird that it occurred so far north though. Mostly they're out in the English channel so we never even feel them up here, but this one occurred in the north. In my life, thats unheard of. Especially a relatively big one like that. I didn't feel the aftershock though which was only a 1.8 3 hours later. |

brighton is awesome.
the taxi drivers are royal cunts though my mate got hit by one last night, and badly sprained her ankle and knee. taxi driver gets out and is more concerned about the dent her knee made in his car... we had to carry her back.... |
They were pretty chill with me and the missus. The engine rooms are a hole though.

-GN
I dunno, just something about them irritates me. Although i really dont like that kinda music. |
So it's the latter, i guess? Alot of people don't like indie.
-GN |
Probably. Theres something about indie in general that doesnt sit with me.
