Ephemeral 08-22-2006 03:24 PM

I have an Abbey Road poster in my music room.

Seafroggys 08-22-2006 07:11 PM

I do not have an Abbey Road poster, and I am probably the least n00b in this thread.
I do not have an Abbey Road poster, and I am probably the least n00b in this thread.
tongue-in-cheek humor omg :p

I actually have an Abbey Road poster framed that I haven't put on my wall yet. My mom got me a crapton of posters and frames, I'm going to put them in my drum shed soon, along with carpeting :)

I am digging The Grey Album right now, which is a mash-up of Jay-Z's "Black Album" with The Beatle's "White Album" by DJ Danger Mouse (one half of Gnarls Barkley). It's pretty sweet.

Seafroggys 08-22-2006 11:10 PM

my parents keep on getting me Beatle/Lennon related posters, even though they're my favorite band and I appreciate the gesture, I want other bands as well. Too bad its impossible to find posters (or calenders) for Deep Purple, The Who, Cream, Tull, etc.

The Clash 08-24-2006 09:59 PM
if there's a band thats formed because of that, they should NOT be called The Beatles, under any circumstances. Cause the legend and greatness of The Beatles will just die because of that. I mean, you might get by without George (and that's a big if) but without John, no way in hell.

Maybe they should call themselves Sgt. Pepper's
George Harrison was a bigger part of The Beatles than he is given credit for. There is No doubt and everyone knows this that Paul and John were superior to Ringo and George, and they always will be, But George's guitar solo's in many songs made the song great. In fact, A guitar magazine did the 100 best guitar solos of all time and Geroges Solo in "And Your Bird Can Sing" was the only Beatle song on the list coming in at #69. Geroge also may have had the best 2 songs off of Abbey Road in my opnion, that being "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun". Ringo was the least important of The Beatles. The Beatles would have been great no matter what, But Ringo meant the least to the group, but without Ringo, we wouldnt hear Yellow Submarine, With A Little Help From My Friends,Octupuses Garden etc....

Hell dont get me wrong, I Love THe BEatles, I love all the members, i dont mean to diss of Ringo or George but its the truth. But Remember The Beatles ARE John, Paul,George and Ringo.......Forever.....

The Clash 08-24-2006 10:01 PM
Yeah, well...that's just like...your opinion...man.
Yea well The Beatles are the greatest band of all time. Id defend The Beatles to death, and its easy to. Its the majority of the world that The Beatles are the Greatest band to ever walk this earth, and The Beatles did things that in this world just wont ever be able to be matched again. Beatles Forever!

I blame Ringo for the break-up...no one ever suspects Ringo.
lol....Ringo was the first Beatle to quit the beatles. During the making of The White Album, he quit for two weeks. When he came back, Flowers were laid on his drumset by George, John and Paul welcoming him back. In the meantime, Paul took over the drumming duties during his two week break. He is the drummer on "Back in the USSR" and "Dear Prudence"

Double Fantasy to me is Classic

To Show The Beatles Greatness

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5938174/the_rs_500_greatest_albums_of_all_time

This link above is the Rolling Stone magazines 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. It was released a couple years ago, But Just look in the top ten and You Will NOT be suprised where some classic Beatle albums rank.

Jacaranda 08-24-2006 10:38 PM

Wow edit much?

Seafroggys 08-24-2006 10:42 PM

Rolling Stone's lists suck, so I'm not even clicking on that link.

The only reason I say my George statements, is becaused I envishioned, had Lennon not been shot but Harrison still died from natural causes, I can see a Beatles form with John, Paul, Ringo, and Eric Clapton. It would be pretty neat, they did play on each other's songs a lot. Just a weird envision I had.

This thread can now end!

There's a magnificant invention called the edit button. You might want to check it out so you don't have to post 5 times in a row.

And you can't say that George was less talented than John and Paul. Combining instrumental talent, singing, and songwriting, he may have been more talented than either of them. Instrumentally, he's undeniably miles ahead of John and though Paul is closer, he's still ahead of Paul too. Singing, he's behind both of them, but his voice is still great and gets very overlooked. His voice suited his songs perfectly. And as for songwriting, he didn't write as many great songs as either of them, but the best songs he ever wrote were just as good as the best John and Paul wrote. I'm not saying that he's more or even as talented as either of them, but to say he is undeniably less talented than either of them is flat-out stupid.

Double Fantasy is most certainly not classic. Good, yes, but Yoko's songs prevent it from being classic.

StrawberryFieldsForever 08-25-2006 09:14 PM

I can't rank Beatles songs, but I know my top 10 would include Here Comes the Sun, While My Guitar Gently Wheeps, and Something...HCTS and WMGGW would be in the top five probably.

I firmly believe George was a better song-writer than Paul...sure he could write a great pop song, but George's songs were truly masterpieces.

I'm surprised that the solo for While My Guitar Gently weeps isn't on that solo list...but it was done by Clapton so it wouldn't count anyway.

Up The Irons 08-25-2006 10:19 PM

I'm not going to rank songwriting, because that's not what it's about, but I've said it before and I'll say it again. All Things Must Pass is truly a masterpiece of its time

Paul was easily the most talented Beatle.

Ya you're right all four of them.

yeah i've seen that video before. George is playing an SG I believe, which shocks me, I didn't remember any of them playing Gibsons, I thought it was mostly Gretsch and Rickenbackers.

George used a SG on Paperback Writer, I know.

Just Remember, they started making videos of their songs to replace touring and performing on tv stations.

Basically, they invented MTV

P.S. Ringo is God

I've got some sweet Beatles shirts lately! I got a brown shirt with the rubber soul cover on it, and on the back in red and yellow letters it says Rubber Soul. And my friend who just came back from Japan bought me a Beatles shirt with the hard days night cover as a souvenier!

blue3 08-27-2006 03:51 AM

Cool, I've seen that Rubber Soul shirt before. My friend who went to England bought me Beatles magnets, haha.

that's why the guitar sounds so good on that song!

They blew the whole "bigger than Jesus"
thing way out of proportion.

Tyrion 09-01-2006 04:05 PM

Favorite song for me on Sgt. Pepper's is A Day In the Life. I just love John's vocals, the melody bass, and the great drum rolls Ringo does.

You have the same nickname as I do at some places ;) warhammeeeeeeeer
