iron maiden kick @$$ :thumb:

Josh 05-24-2005 01:44 PM

i don't really like the studio version of FOTD, IMO its a bit weak. but live FOTD is awesome.

Loser Boy Jay 05-24-2005 02:28 PM

Wish they would tour again... and actually come to my city... Lets start a riot!

Lord Abortion 05-24-2005 02:50 PM

I don't much like FOTD - pretty weak album

one of my three least- liked maiden albums

first three tracks and title rule... and that's about it...

wasting love live is much better

Josh 05-24-2005 03:01 PM

its the weakest of all the studio album's i've heard, and i've heard them all except NPFD

Lord Abortion 05-24-2005 03:11 PM

also the first one he got...

Josh 05-24-2005 03:36 PM

it was the first Maiden album i bought, i already had pirates of BNW, DoD and Edward the great.

Deth 05-24-2005 06:49 PM

My first was Edward the Great, which I now think is just a mediocre best of album. My first real album was NOTB.

Stew_Blink 05-24-2005 07:33 PM

My first Maiden album was Number Of The Beast, I have a burnt copy of RiR.

Thunder Fingers 05-25-2005 04:36 AM

errh.. i dont remember... i think it was a burned version of BNW....

GurS 05-25-2005 05:10 AM

my first was NOTB... I then bought Powerslave and FOTD at the same time... I then got DOD for a present, I then got burned copies of BNW, S/T and Edward the Great, I bought 7th Son, Killers, and both LAD's on a trip to canada (as well as RiR the DVD), I forget after that. I think it was NPFTD, then X-Factor.

icebase 05-25-2005 07:00 AM

IM BACK
YEA
well i have the maiden tickets so. does anyone here live in northern ireland or ireland? and if they do are you going to the maiden/mansion concert?

Lord Abortion 05-25-2005 07:48 AM

hey icey-boy

you go and return like the changing seasons...

first album would be... edward the great and rock in rio

studio-wise it was- actually I can't remember...
I got beast, ST, virtual xi and BNW all around the same time

Deth 05-25-2005 08:20 AM

Does anyone else here not like Edward the Great? I think the tracks are weak. My best of album would pwn theirs.

Lord Abortion 05-25-2005 08:24 AM

I hate edward the great- it's mostly singles

and they generally ain't maiden's best on there

no sanctuary?
or aces high?

and any best of without hallowed be thy name is blasphemy...

GurS 05-25-2005 08:26 AM
Does anyone else here not like Edward the Great? I think the tracks are weak. My best of album would pwn theirs.
it's got some good songs, but overall, i do feel the tracklisting is quite week. The 1-disc version of BOTB > ETG

Deth 05-25-2005 08:27 AM

Most of their best tracks wouldn't make it to a best of though because they are either too long or not well known enough.

Lord Abortion 05-25-2005 08:28 AM

yeah...
hardly anyone would choose still life on a best of and it's my second favourite maiden track ever...

GurS 05-25-2005 08:29 AM

true, true.

At least BOTB had hallowed be thy name on it. AND running free (Live After Death version, too :D)

Lord Abortion 05-25-2005 08:30 AM

it's a pity BOTB was discontinued...

i wanted it

Deth 05-25-2005 08:34 AM

Me too :-/. But I'd rather have Eddies Archive.

MAthiAS 05-25-2005 12:16 PM

Maiden best ofs are stupid, because each album is its own masterpiece. Maiden isn't one of those bands that you should just check out a best of.

GurS 05-25-2005 12:22 PM

That would have been true of the 80's, but there was such crap on the albums during the 90's, that the whole decade could be reduced to a 2-disc album of pure gold, rather than four mediocre albums.
17/05/2005: SVT announce historic Iron Maiden live TV broadcast

Sweden’s National TV Broadcaster, SVT, have signed an agreement to film and broadcast Iron Maiden LIVE at their sold out show at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg on July 9th. This makes history as the first time any artist has had their show broadcast in full, nationwide in Sweden since LIVE AID back in 1985. The show is also being broadcast by National TV broadcaster YLE in Finland.

SVT will be broadcasting the show live directly on SVT2 from the Ullevi Stadium while in Finland, YLE, will be broadcasting with a one hour delay.

The Ullevi Stadium show promises to be the showcase of the bands upcoming European Tour as the Stadium will be rammed with 55,000 Maiden fans who were lucky enough to get tickets in the rush that saw the show completely sell out within two and a half hours of going on sale last November following 75,000 ticket applications!! After Bruce Springsteen this is the second fastest sellout of a stadium show in Sweden ever. Similar reactions have happened in both Norway with 17000 tickets and Finland with 22000 tickets, both selling out in incredibly quick time.

Says Steve Harris,'We've always enjoyed massive support from our Swedish fans and in many ways it's like a home match for us in the welcome we always receive . The band always love playing there and we are looking to put on a spectacular show for everyone there and all the fans who will be watching at home. It's a fantastic way to finish the European tour thanks to SVT and we're working with them to make sure this will be a great moment of TV history for both of us.'

Iron Maiden will be performing songs almost exclusively from their legendary first four albums which saw them become one of Rock and Metals biggest Icons, a position they have maintained consistently for 25 years

Manager Rod Smallwood explains, 'This European Tour will be the biggest we have ever done in terms of the number of fans we will play to so we want to make it very special. Following the theme of the very successful 'Early Days' DVD we are taking these first four albums and tours as the theme for the set list and for the Production of the show, which will be featuring some of the ideas incorporated in the early days of the band, particularly on The Beast on the Road Tour and the World Piece Tour. This is going to be huge and a unique treat for our fans... and anyone else!!!”

The broadcast will go out on SVT2 and is scheduled to start at 9.15pm. The show is to be broadcast in regular stereo but also in 5.1 Surround Sound allowing fans at home who can decode the signal to be able to feel as though they are right there in the stadium.
notice the bit I made bold...so what songs might they do from later albums?

MAthiAS 05-25-2005 01:41 PM

Hopefully Paschendale...

Josh 05-25-2005 01:43 PM
