It was just a code name. I don't think it was ever intended to be the real name.

I bet that they change it before the release of the consol, actually. Or that they abbreviate Nintendo Wii to just NW. That way they can release games like "Mario NW: The Musical Menace" or something.

Then again, if they keep it nintendo Wii, it will be called "Mario Wii".

Nintendo is just the kind of pretentious company that likes to put their system's name in all the games. That's why third party companies hate nintendo.
