ya the only decent part about that song is the chorus. the verses suck so much. same with the intro.

there is no way thats impossible man. im 14 and have only been playing for a year and i can play it that way with down picking only. hear is my preffered way of playing it though. ( it sounds just the same)

That riff is so easy that I can do it in my sleep!

The solo is good to it too and the outro. The verse is cool but not very exciting. The song overall is great, I like it.

I play MOP down-picked most of the time. Thats kinda how i built my wrist up for tremelo picking.

Tremolo picking is "when you pick anote or many amounts of notes as rapidly
and continously as possible."

me and some friends, have got a cover band, we play mostly metallica, some black label society, and some others, and one of the songs we do best is Master of Puppets, we've been playing for about 3 and a half years now...i'm not gonna say it's and easy song, i mean, to get it just right, it's tough, i know it doesn't take much to learn it, you may know "how to play it" but it's very difficult to get it perfect, i mean that main riff is downpicked completely, and takes lots of practice to have the guitars and bass keep it in perfect harmony...but we've practiced our butts off, and now we got it down, solo, all of it...

i love fight fire...... everytime someone talks about the "vintage" metallica, i usually think back to fight fire being played live. it had an amazing solo, an awsome and FAST riff with LOTSA head banging, it had cliff, they were young and not stupid like they are now. what doesn't it have?? hell to top it off, i love the intro. It sounds so .......... starry and sparkly (haha, no other description than that does justice to it for me lol). is it under-rated, HELL YES. lots of people first started liking metallica because of RTL and songs like that.

Give them a cigar... you are quite right. I'm pretty good with tremelo picking, as i started learning black metal songs from the moment i picked up a guitar 3 years ago.

and yes, that is the correct tab symbol for tremelo picking.

just alternate picking the strings at a million miles an hour.

Battery or Fight Fire With Fire both rock, more so Fight Fire With Fire, but they are both awesome for the pure speed. Fight With With Fire is such a fast song (There is probably faster thrash songs?) the second it's put on, everyone I know just gets into it, the intro is awesome, it's like preperation for brutal...

ya me and two friends have put together a band. We've been playin for about 2 months now... only like 3 practices and we can play wherever i may roam ( solo not included), for whom the bell tolls, seek and destroy (solo not included), puppets with the solo, and we're working on moby dick by zeppelin. :thumb:

i like kirk's style more. dave does more for megadeth than kirk does for metallica but i like the solos kirk writes better. one, fade to black, mop, wherever i may roam, wolf and man, unforgiven, trapped under ice, for whom the bell tolls, AJFA, etc etc. he has some crazy kick *** solos

but my favorite album(s) was Reload, then Load in 2nd place.

ya the tapping part is awsome, but the hardest part to play is the beginning. Its impossible, even Kirk himself can't properly do it.
