Mike Portnoy's lyrics leave a lot to be desired. He wrote TGP. His best lyrics would be A Change of Seasons but overall, Petrucci is a better lyricist.

Chu: yeah, I heard about it but I've never seen or heard the actual song

Apocalyptic Raids 05-20-2006 07:12 AM

I think they were planning a Gigantour dvd, but maybe that was cancelled in favour of Aresenal Of Megadeth?

Chu 05-20-2006 07:12 AM

Fix'd.

Learning To Live ftw;

Rattlehead 05-20-2006 07:13 AM
Don't you remember?

When Gigantour was in, wherever Dimebag's from (Sorry, I don't think too much of him, I don't know where he's from), Dream Theater covered Cemetary Gates, and Mustaine played the solo... Someone said it would be released on DVD, but I'm still waiting.
wow, yeah, i would truly love to hear that.
I think they were planning a Gigantour dvd, but maybe that was cancelled in favour of Aresenal Of Megadeth?
maybe. or just simply delayed/postponed.

Myung doesn't write enough lyrics.

I sure hope there is a Gigantour DVD. Not doing it because of Arsenal would suck.

Stoo 05-20-2006 07:56 AM

I got Arsenal yesaterday. Not watched it yet though...

clairvoyant 05-20-2006 12:17 PM

I think Megadeth needs to release a DVD of something pre 97

eug008 05-20-2006 07:39 PM
Fix'd.

Learning To Live ftw;
Yup Myung is easily the best lyric writer in DT, Learning to Live has the best lyrics (in a DT song)

eug008 05-20-2006 07:41 PM

And the Gigantour DVD is meant to come out arond the start of Gigantour 2

84mins and 3 disks? Shouldn't it be just one?

GenuineImitation 05-21-2006 09:03 AM

No anthrax clips? Im kind of disapointed with that... I'll still get it anyway.

Jev 05-21-2006 09:35 AM

84 mins? Is that it from a huge concert like that?

GenuineImitation 05-21-2006 03:01 PM
84 mins? Is that it from a huge concert like that?
It does seem a bit short.

I wish there were a few more Megadeth, DT, Symphony X and Nevermore songs.

dr._feelgood 05-21-2006 08:14 PM

Does anyone know when Gigantour 2's line-up is going to be announced?

pep 05-21-2006 08:27 PM

No Anthrax? hmmmm...

The Megadeth setlist isnt what I expected.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-21-2006 10:06 PM
84mins and 3 disks? Shouldn't it be just one?
3 disks is probably so the can separate the concert footage, back stage stuff and documentarys or something.

Lord Abortion 05-22-2006 02:06 AM
Yeah it has some great ones on it, like Lie :dribbles:
SFAM has some great riffs too...Home and Beyond this life especially.

NP-Tornado of souls.

Jev 05-22-2006 10:46 AM

I never used to appreciate the TOS solo, until now.
It's a masterpiece.

eug008 05-22-2006 04:31 PM
Does anyone know when Gigantour 2's line-up is going to be announced?
Should be announced soon as dave is "finalising" the bands in the tour

Definatley a masterpiece. Especially the part at 3:50. It's such a well crafted solo that I often overlooked when I first heard it. It's probably my favorite solo of Marty's or even of Megadeth.

I think Marty has better solo's but it's definetly one of Megadeth's finer solo's

I loved it the first time I heard it. It is so well-written it is just inspiring.

Nepenthe 05-22-2006 11:09 PM

That solo still gives me goosebumps, 5 years after hearing it for the first time. As does the rest of the song following it.

Bazarov 05-22-2006 11:23 PM

The solo on Hangar 18 at 3:15 is my absolute favorite Megadeth solo.

eug008 05-23-2006 12:11 AM

Marty=God

But I like the 2:48 solo in Hangar 18 better

It's kinda difficult for me to play too. I can't stretch from the 10th to 17th fret :(

Apocalyptic Raids 05-23-2006 06:04 AM

Lucretia and Tornado Of Souls own any other Megadeth solos.

Jev 05-23-2006 06:30 AM

Is it me or is the whole of RIP extremely difficult to play?

Apocalyptic Raids 05-23-2006 06:32 AM

Yeah, it isn't exaclty easy.

Jev 05-23-2006 06:42 AM

I think the only song off it I can play fully is Take No Prisoners.

Hevy Tred 05-23-2006 11:18 AM

I really wish marty wouldnt have quit. he was a genious. You should check out some of his solo ****, and his instructional videos. Hes a goddamn...god

My favorite solo would have to be the second one in Set the World Afire

Jev 05-23-2006 11:19 AM

His solo stuff and work with Becker is amazing.
Much better than his Megadeth stuff.

Nepenthe 05-23-2006 11:27 AM

Marty didn't play on Set The World Afire.

Yeah, the Lucretia solo is good as well. I'm not sure why so many people dislike that song, I quite like it.

Hevy Tred 05-23-2006 11:35 AM

Whoops i meant that as a new paragraph, wasnt jeff young on for SFSGSW, or was it poland? I think poland left after peace sells...

Jev 05-23-2006 11:54 AM

T'was Young.

Lord Abortion 05-23-2006 02:27 PM

Take no prisoners is possibly my least favourite track on there..apart from Poison was the cure.

victim of changes 05-23-2006 02:30 PM

Poland did leave after peace sells...

Bazarov 05-23-2006 02:42 PM
Marty=God

Actually yeah that one is awesome as well.
