Apocalyptic Raids 05-15-2005 01:11 AM
The CD stores here suck, and carry almost all mainstream/poplular music. They have quite a bit of metal, but it's all Arch Enemy type headbangers ball music. Luckily they have some thrash at least (Megadeth, Testament, etc.).

NP: Catalepsy - Evil Within
Yeah same, I have one store near me that has plenty of Thrash bands, and quite a bit of black and death too. Thats about it though :(

Freezing Moon 05-15-2005 01:59 AM
Yeah same, I have one store near me that has plenty of Thrash bands, and quite a bit of black and death too. Thats about it though :(
Heh, well that's pretty much better than I've got. None of the stores here carry any black metal (at least I haven't seen any). Which is part of the reason why I don't buy many CD's.

NP: Shah - Threshold Of Pain

The coolest thing about Shah is the guitar tone, by far, in my opinion. It's so unique and cool sounding.

Kreator 05-15-2005 03:54 AM

i've never heard of shah.. i think i have to download some songs now :D

metal-militia 05-15-2005 04:03 AM
I found Demolition Hammer's "Necrology" demo and Shah's "Beware" at the local shop today. All for 9 bucks!
:o How did you find that Shah???

Everyone check Shah out... some good Russian thrash.

RCA 05-15-2005 08:06 AM

This Demolition Hammer demo is also quite good.

NP: Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice

RavenousMetalist87 05-15-2005 10:08 AM

Rotting Corpse are suppossed to re-release all their old demos on the 24th.

It's only going be limited to the first 100 ppl, which will receive a limited edition version signed by all the bands members.

I think I might have all my info wrong but, I think I got some of right.

They will do a second mass printing again, but with different artwork and a different cover.

/bleh. I haven't ordered my tickets to either Gigantour (can't go since they're not coming to LA yet...and even if they did, I wouldn't be able to go x_x) or Revenge of the Sith. I talked to my friend Sami about it and she was hyped that I asked her to go with me. XD

Her friends are all telling me that she's excited I asked her out...except I didn't know I even asked her out.

/sly XD

bleh. ranting I have done. :D

RCA 05-15-2005 10:21 AM

I'll have to try to nab a demo or two.

Have fun on your date! :p

FatalEnergy 05-15-2005 10:30 AM

I picked up some King Diamond last night, "Them" and "Conspiracy" a two for one type of deal, great old school speed/power metal

oh.....just bought my Overkill tickets.......I have to wait until September to see them though

RavenousMetalist87 05-15-2005 10:33 AM
I'll have to try to nab a demo or two.

Lol. I'll try to grab a demo, but yes, she's already hyped for it.

Then you'll see the blabbermouth headlines:

"Thrasher Takes Rocker Chick To Sci-Fi Movie"

And Faceinthesky, I hate you...lol like omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111 jk!!!!!!!!!!1111

I want to see teh 'Kill so bad >_<. I've been sampling W.F.O., From The Underground and Below, as well as Under the Influence.

I'll see if they have any L.A. dates.

RCA 05-15-2005 10:34 AM

Sad thing is, Blabbermouth just might do that.

RavenousMetalist87 05-15-2005 10:44 AM
Sad thing is, Blabbermouth just might do that.
That'd be hilarious

lawl.

>_<

I'm tempted to buy a new thrash album, but don't know what to do first. So much great material coming out in the summer, and then Wacken this year looks like it's going to slay.

Too bad I couldn't be there ._.

I have the 2003 DVD from Wacken, and man, it's a good DVD. Great blend of all metal, even thrash.

I should put together a "To Buy List" of all the new stuff coming out.

/genious

Try not to spread these links around, the guy who is hosting them might get the amount of bandwidth used noticed, and that wouldn't be cool.

All songs are in 224kb/s bitrate.

Great album, I wish I was lucky enough to find it in stores.

Nice, thanks.

metalcritter666 05-15-2005 12:16 PM

Pretty good stuff.

metal-militia 05-15-2005 01:18 PM

if you want more Russian metal, check out Master, they are pretty good.

Mekkalayakay 05-15-2005 01:22 PM

NP: Tankard - Rectifier

Bartender 05-15-2005 01:25 PM

Since you seem to be on the subject of Russian thrash, I still maintain that (what little I've heard by) Korrozia Metalla are pretty good.

That album is called "Beware" not "Devastation".

Bartender: The only Korrozia Metalla I like is Orden Satani; solid album right there.

metal-militia 05-15-2005 01:32 PM
NP: Tankard - Rectifier
ummmm... was there a point to that? :p

Tankard are ok, but are more of a piss take band with most of their stuff being about beer.

That Shah is called Beware by the way
**** RCA got it first. :p

Freezing Moon 05-15-2005 02:42 PM

I knew that, no idea what I was thinking.

NP: Polterkrist - Cyanide Attack

FatalEnergy 05-15-2005 09:44 PM

I picked up Iced Earth "Alive In Athens" today, great live album, I consider Iced Earth to be pretty thrash, they are like power/thrash. Finally that completes my collection of them!

I also just ordered "Live Without Sense" Destruction's last album with Schmier, before the runion. Once I have it, it will, complete my Destruction Catalouge as well

What do you think of the albums without Schmier? I thought Cracked Brain was ok, but nothing special. The cover of "My Sharona" always raises a smile though. :p

Apocalyptic Raids 05-16-2005 07:16 AM

They covered My Sharona?!?

Seriously though, those type of non-serious covers annoy me big-time, especially when it is in a bad spot on the album, like Anarchy In The Uk on So Far So Good... So What!

RCA 05-16-2005 08:10 AM

Worst Cover Ever = Dark Angel's version of "Immigrant Song"

Some songs just can't be turned into raging thrashers.

NP: Exodus - Chemi-Kill

metal-militia 05-16-2005 08:21 AM

Yeah but there some classics like Ghostbusters by Xentrix and Low Rider by Exodus. :thumb:

I don't mind that Megadeth cover, even if it does have wrong lyrics.

ThrashMaster27 05-16-2005 08:24 AM

Coroner springs to mind on the bad covers front...

metal-militia 05-16-2005 08:31 AM

No way! Purpe Haze is a legendary cover.

Other good ones are Laaz Rockit - Holliday in Cambodia and Voivod - Astronomy Domine.

ThrashMaster27 05-16-2005 09:03 AM

Bah! it's terrible. Aswell as that Beatles one they did, although that's kind of listenable as it kinda perks up after a while. A good cover would be Slayer - Dissident Aggressor. A popular choice perhaps, but I like it.

metal-militia 05-16-2005 09:07 AM

Lies! The Purple Haze cover is very good.

But theres no way you can beat Xentrix - Ghostbusters.

RCA 05-16-2005 02:47 PM

Yeah, the cover Xentrix did was ace.

Another GREAT cover is Heathen's version of Kill The King. I happen to like the cover better than the original, even if the original is completely bad ass.

FatalEnergy 05-16-2005 05:29 PM

I liked Cracked Brain, but everything else with out Schmier was really crappy

ForiegnPenguin 05-16-2005 05:37 PM

Want to talk about a funny cover, Slayer version of Inagadadavida(spelling?) is pretty wierd.

RCA 05-16-2005 06:08 PM
I liked Cracked Brain, but everything else with out Schmier was really crappy
I also enjoyed Cracked Brain, and I think its one of Destruction's best.

Foreign: That cover owned!

ForiegnPenguin 05-16-2005 06:13 PM

Finally got Eternal Devastation/Mad Butcher. Great album, way better than AHBL.

Griffin_Page 05-16-2005 07:12 PM
Want to talk about a funny cover, Slayer version of Inagadadavida(spelling?) is pretty wierd.
That is a great cover!

That Sikth stuff isn't working... maybe it's bandwith. I'll try again later.

FatalEnergy 05-16-2005 08:02 PM

Slayer's cover of Born to Be Wild was REALLY Horrible
