In a word, really good. I'll do my 'thing', shall I?
Wildest Dreams: A good start to the album, at first this song unimpressed me but it's a real grower. Nice high-octane, energetic stuff. Rainmaker: A great song this one, catchy guitar hook, powerful chorus and a good solo. Weird video, but that's life, eh? No More Lies: For me, 'Arry has tried to pull off a certain kind of song from FOTD onwards. He's never quite managed to pull it off, but there has been some worthwhile efforts (Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Dream Of Mirrors). For many people, he finally hit the mark with NML. Personally, I find it drags on a wee bit much, but nevertheless, a god song. Montesgur: This is a real cracker - and not just coz my name's in the title! One of Maiden's heaviest songs in their entire back catalogue, the song this is most reminiscent of is Where Eagles Dare, having that heavy triplet feel about it, but unlike WED, this is slightly slower, and hence bears an extra edge of menace. A great song, with a dramatic chorus (though I've heard the argument that it can be semi-cheesy), but for me second best on the album. Dance of death: Personally, I find this to be the weakest song on the album. It starts of well, great build up etc and then.... it turns Irish. From then on in, there are parts of the song that are great, but all of the highs of the song are nullified by the Irish hook (And then a skirmish started... when your lying in your bed... YOU KNOW THE BIT I MEAN! lol). End result: the song is very.... 'meh'. Though I've been told it's good live. Gates Of Tomorrow: A good song, but very much filler, nothing special, nothing that makes it stick out the crowd particularly. New Frontier: I consider this song to be very much the same as the previous song, and the same applies: bland and nothing particularly special. Paschendale: Best song on the album. This is by far the best Maiden song since 1988, if not earlier (joint with OOTSP, of course. ****, those triplets pwn me :upset:). This is a real epic, with many different parts, each with its own feel, joining and linking together to create something wonderful. This song is worth the 15 quid by itself. Face In The Sand: A great song, this 'un. Great guitar work, and noteworthy for being the only song Nicko's ever had to resort to using a double-kick to record  I know. Shocking. I really like this song. Yeh. Age Of Innocence. This too is a great song, also with different parts, each with it's own feel. Surpassed only by the Nicko version, which was a secret track on the No More Lies EP. Journeyman: Maiden goes acoustic! A great, powerful song, with a sweeping orchaestral backing. Really good stuff. Electric version is better though :P And that's the dance of death album :)
Hey Gurs,Great review once again. For me personally i really like No more lies. Although you can get a wee bit lost you can feel the energy in the solos. It's got a got film clip wheree Bruce climbs up the tower. i thought they were goin to bring out the dod tour dvd after that, oh well. :upset: I though Nicko refused to use a double kick "on principle". i can sort of get it but thats the only part of the song i play. i may learn it for our local eistedfodd. And yeah the middle "filler" songs, you always get them but i thing these one's bring some extra life to the album. Anyway, thats my opinion. :thumb: |
1ooth post. I thought i better do it in here because this is my fav band.

Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son...
|
I'd assume most of you already know, but if you're missing CDs in your Iron Maiden collection (and it might help if you're in England), you could check out HMV's current sale. It's a 4 CDs for £20 deal, with a surprisingly good selection, including three (I think) Iron Maiden albums. Not rare ones, naturally, but just in case, thought I'd post this here. Even if you only want one particular one, I think they'll be reduced individually (just not as much).
Sorry if this is old news around these parts, "HMV" isn't too easy to search for. I used the opportunity to pick up Number of the Beast and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, incidentally. |
Nice one 'Tender, cheers for that. And nice choice of albums, they are tres good.

|
I also heard that Iron Maiden is on the main stage at ozzfest in the northwest
That was for the Dance of Death tour isn't it? They've only released the Europe dates so far. I don't think they are playing at Ozzfest, I heard that the dates clash with some confirmed gigs. |
They have less than 2 open months during the summer, so I think Ozzfest is out of the question.
|
well as not all UK dates are announced yet (/has just checked maiden website), it could be a while before any US dates are announced
|
fuck no! :( Maiden England is out of production...:(:(:(:(:( but they would look around for it for a while, there might be that someone still have it... i hope someone still have it... that is one of the best maidn concerts i have seen, not to talk about Steves Bass...(yeah i know he use it on LAD to, but it looks so much better in the lights on "Maiden England" :p)
|
can you not get it delivered to norway from amazon.com?
