I prefer the old style better, but I don't think Hatebreeder's the best. It has the biggest concentration of CoB's most mediocre songs.
|
Are you guys joking? There is no such thing as a bad CoB song. Every album they've released is ace, and every original song they've ever put out on an album has completely pwned, new stuff included.
Never said there are any bad songs. But there are a few songs which are not awesome. But still good. Not bad. |
OMFG Are You Dead Yet is out. Actually I've had it for about 2 months.
|
We never said there are bad songs. But there are a few songs which are not awesome. But still good. Not bad.
I know that, but you said "Every CoB album has at least 2 good songs", when there are in reality many more than two per album. |
Every album has at least two awesome songs.***
I would rank the albums like this: 1. Hatebreeder 2. Are You Dead Yet? (yes!) 3. Follow the Reaper 4. Hatecrew Deathroll 5. Something Wild pls. don't kill me....
*****This is just my current ranking list. It changes....***** |

imo there's just two really awesome songs on Something Wild... |

WHAT!!!??? Every song on that album kicks ass, make no mistake. |
My thing about Hatebreeder is every song is equally good. There has been a time where every one of them has been my favorite. That's never happened to me with the other albums. I know some of you don't like some songs on Hatebreeder but it is really just a matter of taste, because they were all equally well written. Something Wild is very neoclassical and their most epic, two of my favorite aspects of music. I like that so much because Bodom doesn't make very much epic sounding music. A lot of people crap on In the Shadows (including Alexi himself) but I think it is their most epic song and has a lot of really cool melodies and emotion to it.
|
Something Wild is my favorite (well, tied for it at least). I love Hatebreeder, but some of the songs on it just seem really unoriginal for some reason. It's all opinion anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. I've felt the same way aobut Follow the Reaper (and Something Wild) for a very long time.

lake bodom and deadnight warrior owns really ... but the rest isn't as good imo edit: only 10 posts more and I have 1000 :D |
The only sing on that album I feel is remotely weak is The Nail. Everything is very dark and neoclassical, both of which I love.
One more and I have 1000 in this thread. :) |

I can understand if you call Hatebreeder repetetive, a lot of the songs sound similar. I always like albums like that though, I really felt it bonded the songs as a whole.

Touch Like Angel Of Death = pwnage. NP: Dragonforce - Through The Fire And Flames. So far so good...20 seconds into the new album, and I haven't shut it off yet. Still crazy as hell. More keys, which is quite good. |
Even if it's not my favorite, Hatebreeder has some of my favorite CoB songs in the whole world, like Warheart and Downfall. I was thinking about those earlier, and now I feel like listening to them.

I can't stand Dragonforce along with most other powermetal bands, because 3/4 of each song is amazing. That last 1/4 is so cheesy I just wanna hit myself. Stratovarius is the same way, one of Bodom's biggest influences. Their neoclassical parts are great the solos are great, but then they completely butcher it with a major scale riff and lyrics about learning to fly.
|
For me Hatebreeder is tied for my favourite with Follow the Reaper. I really like Hatebreeder cause its consitent and has lots of good songs like Warheart and Children of Bodom and I like Follow the Reaper cause it has some absolutely ammazing songs(bodom after midnight, children of decadence and kissing the shadows). I don't have Something Wild though so I don't know where it would stand.
|
It's very different compared to their later work. I'd say it's tied with AYDY as their most unique. It has a very unusual atmosphere and I love it. :)

You have to bypass the cheesiness...then it becomes some of the greatest stuff ever. Until you realize that every song sounds almost exactly the same. Then it becomes slightly less great, but still head and shoulders above a majority of bands. Their music will give you A.D.D. though. I actually listened to Bodom for the first time in a month today. Touch Like Angel Of Death. I saw it on here, and was like..."Hey, I haven't listened to that in a while." So i put it on. Still good music... |
I don't see the point of trying to bypass the cheesiness, that's the whole reason I listen to Bodom. It's the same thing without the cheesiness.
And yes, every song is about 95% the same. Dragonforce goes like this... 1. Super fast intro usually non cheesy riff 2. Super fast verse 3. Semi-cheesy prechorus 4. Extremely cheesy chorus 5. Repeat steps 2-4 6. Six minute solo duel, involves lots of repetetive tapping 7. Repeat steps 2-4 8. Repeat step 1 |
Dragonforce bore the hell out of me. They have a few cool riffs here and there but I can't stand those 6 minute guitar duels and the fact that every song does sound the same as everyone points out. Give me some Cacophony anyday.
|
The guitar solos are orgasmic for me. One of the few shredfest/mindless wankery bands I really like.
|
Main reason why I like the band too. It's just absolute all out chaos...
How they get some notes out of their guitars I will never know...like that one note at the end of Revolution Deathsquad. High as hell... Repetitive tapping? I believe you are mislead, IHeartSP. |
Listen to Fury of the Storm or Valley of the Damned, those tap arpeggios go on FOREVER
|
see now this is why i need to play an instrument so i can know what everyone is talking about, you ppl are speaking a totally diff. language lol im like whaa

What instrument would you want to play? |
umm a guitar! a bass or idk what all of them are called but a guitar :D
|
Wise choice. You can get starter pack things now for like £90, which is what $140 in the US? But you get a guitar, amp, strap, pick, strings, a lead, a starter video thing. That's what I started out with.
|
Play guitar. And yeah, get those starter pack things. Mine didn't come with a video though, but that's not really important.
|
I say play bass merely for the fact that there is a big shortage of bass players in almost any given area. For $200 you can get a really good Ibanez starter pack.
