Who'd everybody vote for in the guitarist poll?

/Hendrix
Hendrix. He deserves it. Gilmour does not.

I just read your vote. Your's seems to have the best understanding of my song. The idiot after you seems to think that I screwed up 4/4 and it came out sounding like 5/4. I didn't even realize my drums were so low until about 2 days after I submitted my entry and by then it was too late. I resent people who like Joz's song better than mine though. That 3rd solo of his makes me want to go deaf. I think your song is going to win my top vote. There are parts of others I like better, but overall yours is my favorite. I wish more people did vocals though.

Illmatic 05-08-2005 04:52 PM

You've been turning up a lot less frequently, which is too bad. And while I don't like his tone, that is pretty interesting.

At this point I'm leaning towards "raunchier"/"dirter" blues as opposed to Clapton's very clean tone.

Dancin' Man 05-08-2005 04:55 PM

I dig that really crunchy blues sound. Clapton's sounds too accurate to me to feel like really emotive blues.

Cain 05-08-2005 04:55 PM
sup ;)

SRV's strat was pretty much hollow because it used to belong to the guitar player from Vanilla Fudge, who inexplicably put 3 humbuckers in it. Thus alot of the body was routed out which was what gave it the clear, bell-like tone.
Good to see you Rob, haven't known of your whereabouts for quite some time.

SRV's tone is always making me flip-flop. I hate it on some days and love it on others. I think the majority of the time it's too wet-sounding for me...some more fuzz in his sound would have made it awesome. Then he could just control the raunchiness of the tone using the volume knob like Beck does.

123.

I like Clapton a lot, but I don't listen to him if I want to listen to the blues. If that makes sense.

i am the robots 05-08-2005 04:57 PM

Yes, Beck is good, thus he got my vote in the pole :thumb:

Yeah, I don't understand how the kid after me gave Joz's an 8/10. No offense to him, because I like him as a poster a great deal, but I don't think the song is up to par.

Very much so. I don't like him that much because a number of his songs sound exactly the same to me. That doesn't bother me so much with standard 12 bar blues because they're practically supposed to sound the same.

I hate that song with a passion.

Cain, I'm listening to your song for the competition, and I'm really liking it, it kinda reminds me of Opeth.

Thanks. I thought a little of it may have sounded like it, especially the outro and the ambient leads.

Yes, and the first accoustic part sounded like Opeth, but it had a little bit of a different feel to it, I really dig your style :thumb:

Do it, come on, loads of people are only listening to the songs that they want and not all of them, and so aren't voting. Everyone should be given a chance.

i am the robots 05-08-2005 05:18 PM

I know what you're saying, but I may not have the time.

So far I've listened to your song, Ramsey's (which was OK, but not really my style), then Magic Troll's (which is also OK, but a bit generic).

i am the robots 05-08-2005 05:27 PM

Now I've heard Lateski, Joz, and Gome, I like the first and third, but Joz' song is kinda cheesey and crappy IMO.

Perhaps someone deleted your posts. Perhaps a thread was deleted that you posted in. Ask in Site.

Subtledagger deleted the "Song name game" thread. If you had posts in that then your postcount will have dropped.

Write little blurbs about them as you go. It's not very hard or anything. And then vote.

I used to post in that back in the day. Then i realized it was a waste. Thanks.

"refl" is an inexplicable misspelling.
It's not inexplicable; it's just a typo that caught on. Like "pwn", except it originated on MX.

Anyway. What are the rules for voting in the competition thread?

So far my choice is probably either you or Nostoligia, Berner's was OK but the intro was dumb.

Oh my God, This Filter's song is amazing, but the distortion on the screaming is painful!

Ramsey explains it pretty well in the first post of the competition thread.

Basically, just listen to every song, and write a few sentences or one really good sentence about it, and rate it out of 10.

example:

Berner's entry:
Berner's entry blahblahblahblahblah
7/10

Tender, I'm not sure if you caught my comment a couple pages back, but I really like the Kraftwerk that you uploaded for me. Thanks again.

I read something about it in Alt/Indie actually, yeah. You're welcome.

Yeah, but I mean, do you have to be taking part in the competition to vote?

i am the robots 05-08-2005 06:13 PM

Nah, you can just vote from the outside, it's not like the Lyrical Challenges.
