Dogs.

I got Meddle about a week ago, and I really like it. One Of These Days is great, and Echoes is a perfect soundscape, and a fantastic, relaxing chill song. The guitar line at about 18:15 is incredibly beautiful.

YES! I know exactly what you mean about the 18:15 part, I memorized the time so I could have a way to tell people about what I meant. That part is so amazing, just like the rest of the album.

I love the "funky" part in Echoes.

Edit: the part that starts around 7:00.

Yea, basically the whole song is perfect.

It's a little lacking in the middle.

*knows he's about to get flamed :upset: *

No, if you're talking about the squealy part, I know what you mean. I just kinda skip over that when I say "perfect".

YouGottaBeCrazy 09-04-2005 10:12 PM

Cool. The rest is quite awesome.

I think it's interesting the way Gilmour did the part that sounds like whales. What he did was he just switched the input/output cables on his wah and modded it.

I tried it once and got pretty close results, but I need the wah mod he made.

There's only 4 of those wahs in the world. 3 belong to Gilmour and 1 belong to the guitarist of the Australian Floyd cover band. He got it from Gilmour as a birthday present, the lucky guy.

I thought it was 2 in the world. Gilmour has 1, the cover band guitarist has the other.

DeusExMachina 09-04-2005 11:08 PM

Regardless of whether it's 2 or 4, it's really cool. I want one...

I tried it too, but it didn't work for me.

Flaminghotchino 09-05-2005 12:35 AM

Corporal Clegg is a really cool song.

Don't hear it mentioned very much.

FockerTheLopper 09-05-2005 12:42 AM

Pink Floyd are so good that their the first band EVER that I like more then System of a Down. I'm listening to them now... Well its not a big deal I'm always listening to them now!!!

Flaminghotchino 09-05-2005 01:03 AM

as a matter of fact.

I really love all of Saucerful Of Secrets.

I hope its not just the codeine talking...

Im pretty sure it isn't.

You truly are a wiseman I've noticed.

its a good album, but it needs "careful with that axe" on it.

The title track sure as hell isn't the best version of that song tho.

nah, 3 and 1.

I don't.

It fits into the song as a whole, and really makes the bit that comes after it much more effective.

True. I didn't like that part at first, but I really think it's an essential part of the track now. It adds to the mood so much.

Lunch 09-05-2005 09:10 AM

I'm indecided about it. Sometimes I appreiciate it, other times it just bothers me because they could be making amazing music in that time.

temporary 09-05-2005 09:16 AM
It does genuinely fit with the last 23 minutes of "2001: a space odyssey".

Roger apparently always regretted letting that contract slip (they wanted to use atom ehart mother in the soundtrack)
I had to idea. I used to big Sci Fi fan (as you can guess from my SN, which I hate but use 'cause I've been using it forever, wish I could change it.) That would have been cool to see.

I doubt they'd have filled the side without that section.

They have albums and albums of music, I let dave return to his roots of freakout noises and enjoy it for what it is, not let it annoy me for what it isn't.

Lunch 09-05-2005 09:19 AM

I'm happy for you then. I don't always have minutes and minutes to wait for Pink Floyd to play music though. And I'm not just talking about Echoes either.

Prince of Darkness 09-05-2005 10:14 AM

I've got a confession to make. I might get serious flaming, but it's got to be done.

.....Dark side of the Moon isn't thaaat good.
Well, it's got the occasional great song, but for me, comparing it to Animals, The Wall or Meddle, it's just not up there with the others.
It's good, but not Animals, The Wall or Meddle good.

My biggest problem with Pink Floyd is how I have to wait for the really good stuff, and if I'm at school or something, I have to stop listening before I get to it.

It's called an opinion, don't state it as a fact.

DeusExMachina 09-05-2005 10:31 AM

It was stated as an opinon. Someone doesn't need to say "I am of the opinion that..." to make it obvious that it's an opinion. As long as people aren't prickish about their opinions, I don't care whether or not they say "in my opinion" or not.

Personally, DSOTM > Animals and the Wall. Not sure about Meddle, it's a toss up.

robo2448 09-05-2005 10:44 AM

For me:

WYWH>Animals>Pulse>DSOTM>The Wall>Meddle>OBC>SOS>PATGOD>DSOT> AHM

I downloaded The Final Cut, and More but haven't listened to them yet. I still need Umagumma and The Division Bell. I don't think I want MLOR from what everyone says about it.
