I have "A Night at the Opera", "Nightfall in Middle Earth" and like half of Imaginations
Haven't listened to them in quite awhile so I think I'll give it another swing tonight.

Stormrider 09-08-2006 10:20 PM

:)

Imaginations is so damn amazing. As is Nightfall in Middle-earth.
MIA is a very good song and I think it's Sidewinder? that has the flamenco thing at the end that is totally amazing.
Yes its Sidewinder, you should also check out The Wicked End and Strength of the World and maybe even Beast and the Harlot, the whole CoE album is full with power metal solos.

Pablo Sanchezz 09-08-2006 11:09 PM

I have it. It was one of my favorite albums for awhile.
One of the best albums guitar-wise I've heard.

Insipid2000 09-08-2006 11:48 PM

Could you recommend any similar Power Metal stuff I might like thats Epic?

Pablo Sanchezz 09-08-2006 11:59 PM

I don't really know any similar to Avenged Sevenfold.
Power metal doesn't come to mind with them.

My favorites though

Galloglass
Falconer
Heavenly
Brainstorm
Pyramaze

Ample Destruction rules.

Pablo Sanchezz 09-09-2006 12:08 AM

I just recently got into them. Mechanized Warfare is my favorite so far.
I just recently got into them. Mechanized Warfare is my favorite so far.
Bought Mechanized Warfare a while ago, but was never able to give it one whole spin before letting a friend borrow it. Thane To The Throne is also a kickass album, nice way of making a metalized MacBeth.

The Tracks i've heard of Ample Destruction completly rule too.
"I'm living my life causing, Warfare!"

pate 09-09-2006 12:21 AM

I don't really like Ample Destruction, but I'm a HUGE Conklin fan. My favorite is Thane to the Throne, with Mechanized Warfare in second.

Pablo Sanchezz 09-09-2006 12:24 AM

Thane to the Throne is good. First one I got by them.
Have any of you guys heard Avenged Sevenfolds Wicked End or Strength of the World or even M.I.A. they are some good power metal tunes and I know its Avenged Sevenfold but who cares?
i dont really like avenged seven fold, the guitar tone annoys me, and the snare drum makes me feel sad :(

MetalOz 09-09-2006 07:35 AM
How does it compare to their other releases?
It's comparable. They seem a bit generic at times but I really like power metal without so much keyboards, so they win in that dept. I just sent it out with the daily upload :)

Shattered_Future 09-09-2006 01:14 PM
So I got a promo of the new Dream Evil, it's solid but nothing earth-shattering. The last song is a cover of the Eurovision 2005 Song Contest winning entry "My Number One", it's actually a pretty cool metalized version :thumb:
Damn. BOHM is so damn good...

Riva 09-10-2006 07:32 PM

They ruined their rhythm when they lost Snowy. He was one of the main songwriters, you see.

Shattered_Future 09-10-2006 07:46 PM

I'm well aware. I thought he might have switched duties or something.

Man, it almost sounds like it could be used as US propaganda. I mean, cmon...the album's called United. And it's got songs like Kingdom At War.

None of them are American though...

I thought Fredrik Nordström wrote everything...

pate 09-10-2006 11:53 PM

Snowy wrote a lot of material: some good, some bad. When he left he took all of his songs with him.

blah, I despise that song, there was a time you heard it literally EVERYWHERE! I still can't see what you guys find in Dream Evil. The definition of "generic" if you ask me :-\

pate 09-12-2006 11:47 AM

Generic, but fun

...like Hammerfall

Stoic 09-12-2006 11:52 AM

not that fun to me I'm afraid. I'm kind of disappointed with the power metal scene, it's been aaages since I last heard a new band I really liked. This is why I've started digging the traditional metal scene.

pate 09-12-2006 11:58 AM

That's why I love Jag Panzer, they straddle the line, and do it very well.

Stormrider 09-12-2006 02:08 PM

I've heard 2 Dream Evil songs, and didn;t find any interesting, so I havn't listened to them since.

pate 09-12-2006 02:19 PM

The only Dream Evil song I would call outstanding is "Break the Chains"

All the others are enjoyable, but pretty much interchangable.

Shattered_Future 09-12-2006 03:05 PM

Until you can write a song called "Heavy Metal Jesus" and make it good, hush.

Heavy Metal Jesus always reminds me of "Buddy Jesus" in the movie Dogma.

/random fact
