My plugs are all surge-protected, but with a storm that intense I didn't want to take any chances.

PaulSimonon 04-19-2005 04:40 PM

That's crazy Alex. We don't get too many bad storms by me. A tornado or two though...

ridethelightning 04-19-2005 04:42 PM

Only 15?
It's been like 25 for the last couple days here in Toronto.

Wintermute 04-19-2005 04:44 PM

Well we don't either, normally... In general the weather in Wales is just permanently grey, with occasional patches of drizzle or sunshine. It's not the jolliest place in the world.

bassist-bmxer 04-19-2005 04:58 PM

I really want to watch a film..... but its late and all the good films are in my brothers room and he is asleep. And the only ones i have in my room are gone in 60 seconds, shaun of the dead, lake placid and from dusk till dawn, but i watched them not so long ago.....

/end of whining

Pluperfect_Arson 04-19-2005 05:00 PM
Just posting to let you know I'll not be around much for a bit... Technical issues.

Today we had an incredibly intense, incredibly sudden, incredibly localised, and rather brief thunderstorm. It was almost like God got pissed off at Pontypridd.

There were many effects, the thunder set off several car alarms, and the lightning caused a fire or two, and took out the trainlines. You could smell the ozone in the air, and it was hailing hard enough to break our guttering. At the first blast of lightning (with thunder that was actually simultaneous) I was playing my bass, and surfing MX. My amp made a *whuWHUMP* noise, so I just reached up and wrenched all the plugs out of the wall. Non of my kit was damaged, but it also hit our phoneline, frying our router. I actually saw the sparks flying from it. Later we took it apart, and there's a scorched hole in the circuit board. So until we can find a replacement, we'll not have an internet connection at home. Luckily we have a wireless router, so there was no chance of it causing any damage to any of our computers.

Oh, it took out the TV transmitters too, but they're back up now.

An hour later, the skies were blue. Britain...
The exact same thing happened to me the other week. It just started hailing like no other, and it was the weirdest thing ever. I was talking to my friend and he said it was all clear where he was (he lives a mile away), and my other friend said that it was clear over by her house, as well (she lives <20 miles from me). Then the storm started clearing up and my friend mentioned that everything was dark and the storm was hitting his house.

Weird stuff.

I'm in Portland, OR on the west coast of the US, by the way.

Spaceman Spiff 04-19-2005 05:01 PM

From Dusk Till Dawn is awesome, you should watch it again. :thumb:

Since when does anyone smile when they pay for something?
Of course you'll be happy when you actually have it, but paying for stuff sucks.

Left Shoe 04-19-2005 06:28 PM

me and my friend just wrote this poem about being a flower and being worn on a fat girls head

behold:

For I am a dandelion ........

stuck on this crazy girls cranium

taken from my home, o terrarium

now dying and my color fades to brown

This

Makes

Me

Feel

Down

=)

o hung among my fallen comrades

drained of sunshine and soil

i never sprouted my white fuzz

and never witnessed them float on the wind

my girlfriend hates me

mine too ! =)

she took my dog...and my truck ... and my money

and now im left with a tubesock and this pickle

Death

Lonely

...Hungry

i drink too much

addicted to this water

your cranium

does not provide

Close

Your Mouth

I am so sad

i dyed my hair black

my make up smears right after i put it on

and i dont do anything to fix it

i started smoking to express

MYSELF

i am so fat

*weighs 10 lbs*

for a dandelion 10 lbs is fat......like fat fat....

correction you dumb whore  ................ :D
a weed is a plant growing that you do not want, a flower is a part of a plant. Any plant can be a weed if you do not want it in that place, a flower is an anatomical part of a plant or weed.

True, but this is money that would most likely have gone nowhere anyhow. (I won it)

Audioslave is coming to Chicago on friday.

I sorta wanna go, but I've never really listened to anything by them, though they sound very RATM-esque.

I dunno, there was that thread about his new bass, there was the thread about him playing Bach's BWV784 (Invention No. 13), he's mentioned under a bunch of threads with "Nuclear Rabbit," anytime anyone asks about ERBs...
