botb 03-26-2008 11:56 AM

imagicka anyone? my friend brian showed them to me the other day. they weren't really my cup of tea, but i imagine someone on here would like them.

Deth 03-26-2008 10:33 PM

Why has no one punched me in the nads for not checking out Persuader before tonight?

pate 03-27-2008 07:08 AM

No idea but I should have. They're quite good. And their singer sounds like Hansi, so that's a big plus.

jrowa001 03-27-2008 08:22 AM

i should look into them

Poet 03-27-2008 08:41 AM
i should look into them
Me too.

Stormrider 03-27-2008 02:16 PM

I only have The Hunter, and I've heards it's on the later albums that the singer sounds a lot like Hansi. So, I'll have to get to that sometime.

pate 03-27-2008 02:37 PM

I have all of them but The Hunter, and he sounds like Hansi on both of them.

CityOfEvil 03-28-2008 04:43 PM

The Hunter is awesome. lol

So, I was looking on M-A and go see Karma from Kamelot and saw there is a French Bonus track call "Ne pleure pas", french version of "Don't you cry". Anybody knows who sing that?

Shattered_Future 03-31-2008 07:16 PM

Does anybody know what Deliverance by Sonata Arctica is? It looks like a bunch of B-Sides, but I want to double check...

Steerpike 04-04-2008 11:52 AM

hxxp://download.yousendit.com/D3B92AF679F74E95

Except for a couple pieces here and there, I'm happy with this one. This is King Conan Lives from my Scarlet Citadel project. I also have the lyrics ready for this one as well if anybody cares to look over them. I considered posting them in the Lyrics forum, but most of the people there only get on your ass if you don't use a funky rhyme scheme or sing about something abstract enough for them to insert their own meanings into.

Shattered_Future 04-04-2008 10:22 PM

I wish it wasn't MIDI, but it sounds pretty sweet. If you tab this out, I can try to record it in spare time...

Steerpike 04-04-2008 10:31 PM

Do you have GuitarPro? I have everything tabbed out save vocals. There's no good MIDI for harsh vocals sadly.

Shattered_Future 04-04-2008 10:35 PM

Unfortunately, no. But if there's a way to convert it to a pdf file ( I know you can do it with powertabs), that would work fine.

Steerpike 04-04-2008 10:57 PM

I'll see what I can do.

Well, GuitarPro can export the tablature to a BMP file, albeit it only goes 99 bars deep. Kind of retarded. I'll try to work with this and see what happens.

shadowswithin 04-05-2008 10:24 AM

we'll Stratovarius broke up ...

Poet 04-05-2008 10:40 AM

eh, they were just ok imo.

Shattered_Future 04-05-2008 11:00 AM

Stratovarius are so goddamn boring.

Poet 04-05-2008 11:03 AM

Eagleheart was the only song I really liked from them.

shadowswithin 04-05-2008 11:16 AM
Stratovarius are so goddamn boring.
how so?

CityOfEvil 04-05-2008 11:33 AM

Not that boring. Not the best but they were good. Destiny was really great.

Steerpike 04-05-2008 12:53 PM

This comes as no shock to me.

They had a falling out with several members, then got back together to appease a bunch of dickhead fans. The resulting album sucked balls. Anyone surprised by that needs to stop drinking mercury smoothies and slit their own throats before they breed.

So now, three years later they decide to split due to the same personal conflicts as before. Holy shit, didn't see that one coming!

Shattered_Future 04-05-2008 01:32 PM
how so?
Their song structures and music are seriously boring. I guess they could be called forerunners of their style, but there are countless other bands who do what they do much much better. Their contemporaries have completely eclipsed the group.

shadowswithin 04-05-2008 01:34 PM

lol no offense but there the best of that type of power metal, i can't think of one better.

Shattered_Future 04-05-2008 01:37 PM

Sonata Arctica do what they do at least 50 times better, fool.

You can't tell me they're different bands. Nowadays, yes, but Ecliptica and Silence are Stratovarius worship 100 percent.

shadowswithin 04-05-2008 02:13 PM

mabye worship but still not as good.

Evoke 04-05-2008 11:18 PM

Episode is one of the best power metal albums I have heard

Riva 04-06-2008 08:55 PM

I'm fairly fond of Destiny, but to me Stratovarius have never really stood out terribly much from the rest of the Power Metal field.

Deth 04-10-2008 08:14 PM

I swear when I'm in the gym that Lost Horizon's chance of coming up on shuffle increases by tenfold.

That of course is a very good thing.

Poet 04-10-2008 08:17 PM

lol, well Lost Horizon is just the greatest power metal band ever. I bet it's the greatest feeling in the world when you are in the middle of a tough bench press and the end chorus of World Through My Fateless Eyes comes up.

pate 04-10-2008 08:17 PM

I need to give LH another shot. They've never done anything for me.

Riva 04-10-2008 08:18 PM

Yeah, I have a jogging playlist on my mp3 player that's more or less a Greatest Hits In Power Metal compilation.

Poet 04-10-2008 08:20 PM

lol, my mp3 player is 90% power metal..Mostly Rhapsody of Fire, Firewind, Lost Horizon, Blind Guardian, and Kamelot. Oh, some old Nightwish power metal too.

pate 04-10-2008 08:22 PM

I only use my iPod for long drives, so there's quite a bit of power metal on it. Singing while driving makes me feel manly.
I only use my iPod for long drives, so there's quite a bit of power metal on it. Singing while driving makes me feel manly.
the higher the notes the more manly it is.

Riva 04-10-2008 08:24 PM

I usually just take my CD wallet with me for long trips, and I also have a sun visor wallet of burnt compilations, mostly power metal and pub rock.

pate 04-10-2008 08:25 PM

I only listen to clean vocal stuff on long drives. Singing along keeps me awake.

CD wallet?

i hope you have a larger binder at home...

edit: the only power metal i listen to in the car are Symphony X. The others don't seem like driving music to me.

McP3000 04-10-2008 08:29 PM

i know what a cd wallet is, i meant i hope he has more than just 20 cds

i mean i have 3 240+ binders...

pate 04-10-2008 08:30 PM

He does. I've seen them.
