i didnt think they were. theyre good but not that great.
|
ATTOJ is deathcore...
and ABRB isn't? Lul. ATTOJ seems very melodic death-ish to me |
please remember when discussing this that deathcore isn't really a genre
so dont discuss whether bands are deathcore or not |
ty pete I will keep it mind
I agree somewhat, however, I do not enjoy when people label a band as deathcore just because they tour with deathcore bands. Ex. The Faceless, Aborted, etc. |
well, deathcore is more a matter of aesthetics than sound, if you have short hair and dont wear leather while playing death metal, youre a deathcore band
ive always considered aborted to have quite a heavy grind/hardcore influence though, so idk what to call them |

Deathcore = Death Metal labelled as summat different so the l33t tr00 fags don't get butt hurt.
|
actually the term was probably coined by the people who play it
|
I have a Beneath The Massacre shirt that says Mtl Deathcore on it, so yeah.
|
dude, they TORE it up last night
|

after me the floods is such a sweet song
|
yeah it is

yeh. oh and also, after the burial needs to re-work their setlist. How can you not play Berzerker OR Ometh? jeeeeeez
|
it has more to do with tactless use of breakdowns but ok
death metal has had breakdowns for a long *** time. are you saying that cryptopsy's slit your guts is a deathcore song? breakdowns are the only way a band can have hardcore influences ITT. |
look up tactless since you obviously don't know what it means
|
...i do know what tactless means. but death metal bands have been using a ton of breakdowns in songs for ages... there are straight death metal songs that might as well be one big breakdown and some of the breakdowns in DM last a long *** time. but why do you assume that breakdowns are the only thing that separate DM from deathcore?
|
every retard and his mom knows that death metal bands use breakdowns jesus titty****ing christ
lacking tact; showing no tact; undiplomatic; offendingly blunt: a tactless remark.
This is a perfect description of deathcore breakdowns. They are there because they have to be and most of the time come off as totally forced.
Breakdowns when used in good death metal are used infrequently and to add a different rhythmic flavor/texture to the song, see: Suffocation - Thrones of Blood, Cryptopsy - Slit Your Guts etc. Deathcore usually fails at doing this because they are just copying song structures thousands of other bands have used and pasting breakdowns into the songs when they don't need to be there and add nothing to the song, see: any As Blood Runs Black Song. |

yeah i have a DI shirt that says DEATHMETALCORE, i love it
despised icon, rifles at recess, clone the fragile, & embrace the end please explain
meh, it's all death metal, the whole -core thing is just an influence and really nit-picking, the only reason to differentiate is, much like Frankie said, that butts (much like the butts who would whine if we posted about whitechapel in the deathheads thread) think its important, because apparently being associated with bands who either dye their hair or wear baggy pants is v v offensive to them on a personal level it's all death metal, just different seasonings
every retard and his mom knows that death metal bands use breakdowns jesus titty****ing christThis is a perfect description of deathcore breakdowns.
yeah, thats just opinion. basically, what youre saying is that all death metal you dont personally like, is deathcore
not true at all, there's lots of shitty death metal I wouldn't call anything close to deathcore One of the main reasons I find deathcore so intolerable is the fact that it pretty much depends on breakdowns to carry the songs instead of just using them to add a little flavor every now and then. That and like I said before most of it feels so mechanical and doesn't express anything. |
that's still just the one difference, and you'll find plenty of death metal (bad or not) that uses a lot of breakdowns and you wouldnt call it deathcore
much like other crazily overhyped and overused buzz words like 'emo', "deathcore vs death metal" is only an issue as long as people make it an issue. so you like death metal from the mid 90's, i like death metal from the mid 00's, so your bands have long hair and like guitar solos, my bands have baseball caps and like breakdowns (in this example "you" and "me" isnt personal, just examples) i guess my point is, why all the separatism? i'll TELL you why, it's just for the sake of "elitism", which (again) is only really an issue if you actually care about being more elite than your fellow man. and if you have that relationship with people, you're either pubscent, or you deserve to be as 'superior' (read 'inferior') as you feel. this isnt an attack on anyone, i'm just ranting. listening to one kind of music doesnt necessarily make you better than anyone except, of course, on the internet |
