Bass. There's nowt wrong with that BP-15 for practicing on your own. If you're gigging, there's no need to have an amp just yet. If you're only opening up, you can usually borrow amps off the other bands. And if you're in school to practice with a band, you can borrow their equipment. Same with external rehearsal rooms, though they'll have better amps still.

Buy an amp too, but I'd say get the bass you love first.

i have over $150 now, and my birthday is coming up soon. i was thinking of wether getting a new amp or bass. and i decided to get a bass, so ill probably get some type of a jazz bass. im not completely sure. i went to my local GC tried out a few different basses they all sounded the same for some reason. :confused:for example: i coudnt tell the difference in sound between an active bass and a passive one.

Left Shoe 04-17-2005 05:47 PM

first warwick = professional line corvette 4 string in blue
second = professional line corvette 5 with replaced pickups pre amp and electronics with an active pick up set instead of passive and an added slap countour (used but pimped out)

Your ears just aren't trained yet. It also may have been the amp you were playing through.

sixxbassist90 04-17-2005 07:15 PM

how do you know when you need to replace your strings?
ive had mine since i got my first bass which was 11 months ago.

sixxbassist90 04-17-2005 07:22 PM

what strings are good for replaceing. i heard you get a good sound with flatwound strings.

Left Shoe 04-17-2005 07:28 PM

flatwound strings sound dead, but last forever. if you dont like the sound of new strings then get flat wound, if you do go round wound

Left Shoe 04-17-2005 07:50 PM
