What would you guys do in my situation? I live in Montana and I have 2 tickets to the Denver show March 14 for Dream Theater. Today my friend called me and said he can't go, so now I have an unused, nonrefundable ticket. As of right now I can't find anyone to go with me on a short notice of a week. Do I take the 550 mile trek by myself or just waste the $80 for the tickets and not go?

Definately go. It'll be worth it. |

Go. If you can, outside the venue try and sell your spare ticket. |
Heh, I'd talk to literally anyone I could and see if they would come. if that fails, just sell outside the venue. Good pick up line....
"hey i've got a ticket to a prog metal band 550 miles away, wanna come? :D" |
cliché as those chuck norris jokes have become, i still like those :]
UAGM isn't so great live imo. there seems to be a missing dimension in the intro slide-octave riffs especially. it sounds empty. sacrificed sons was actually pretty powerful live. but that's me being biased, cuz i like the song. james hit that high note in learning to live DEAD on :] the man hasn't lost much of his voice, which made me glad to see also, is it just me, or do european/SA/asian audiences get into DT more? the audience at my show wasn't very engaged, but i see budokan, 5YIALT, IW in tokyo and other bootlegs and the audience is always singing or clapping along.
yeh Chuck jokes are funny despite them being whored everywhere. I agree, Under a Glass Moon isn't the best "live" song, but the solo is amazing and I'm so frickin' glad DT included it in their setlist when I saw them :) And James still owns :thumb: |
They need to play Innocence Faded live, just to show James has it.
|
He don't need to prove anything.
See that note in learning to live? Yeah. NP-Home(live) |
Is it even the same singer from songs like "Through Her Eyes" and "Wait for Sleep" to all the new stuff these days? James sounded so smooth and pleasing back then; I wish he'd been able to keep that tone.

Don't be bloody silly. James had serious throat problems for a couple of years, he's only just returning to top form. Even not as good, he was still brilliant. From the testimony of everyone in ITT that has seen them on this tour, he's been amazing. NP-Learning to live(live at LSFNY) |
in the name of god outro tape
1) the root of all evil 2) i walk beside you 3) another won 4) afterlife 5) TAKE THE TIME <--i creamed my pants. my current fave DT song :] 6) caught in a web. i wanted lie. 7) peruvian skies with pink floyd's wish you were here and metallica's wherever i may roam teasers in there 8) home ---intermission--- 9) the glass prison 10) endless sacrifice with twinkle twinkle little star during JR's usual "weird" keyboard moment in the instrumental 11) never enough 12) sacrificed sons 13) octavarium. the video is psychotic. ---encore--- 14) jordan rudess piano solo=beautiful 15) WAIT FOR SLEEP 16) learning to live w/ extended jams im so glad it wasn't pull me under/metropolis. i think all in all, my setlist was awesome.
Sweet, just sweet. I can't wait till I see them on the 28th. |
yup, james is really sounding pretty good. definitely not as good as he was way back when, but i don't think i heard him miss a note the entire show.
petrucci's hair got weird. it's some half-breed of a ponytail/mullet thing idk. it's longer in the back. |

What exactly is "Another Won"?
|

I recently got into DT, yay, and I really like them, even though I've only got half of the DT cd's on my itunes, my mom owns all of them, I think, but anyways, I got Awake, Falling Into Infinity, and Train of Thought, and I love them, sucks that I'm not old enough to go to their concert next week, I'm too young

I've been listening to DT for like 3-4 years now and not once have they ever come close enough to see. I was so pumped to see them at gigantour in Edmonton and then I looked closer and Anthrax was playing for Dream Theater so I guess they didnt even wanna come. I'll never see them:(
|
^ im so sorry. when you get into college or something (unless you already are), just buy a ticket and fly out somewhere. it's seriously worth it. most bands play for an hour or so; they play for 3.
yea it's loud. when the root of all evil started playing, everyone was used to hearing the PA play the tape with the weird noises and then portnoy goes boomboombom petrucci: RWANG |
What exactly is "Another Won"?
it's a demo by the band majesty, which is dream theater waaaay back b4 they took the name dream theater. the demos aren't very good imo. very boring relative to their actual dream theater stuff. |
I thought another won was awesome. It made me want to get the Majesty stuff.
|
I just bought two Dream Theater cd's. Well I had one for awhile, but I did buy Inner Terbulance which should be awesome when i get around to listening to it.
Train of Thought has literally blown my mind. HOLY ****, what an album that was, hell listening to the guitar solo in Endless sacrifice, it's freaking amazing. One of the best albums I have bought in quite some time. |
Train of Thought is amazing, I remember hearing it for the first time, it completely blew me away.
I love the 2nd disc of 6DOIT, and love The Glass Prison and Disappear off the 1st disc, not so keen on the other songs however. |
i really love the intro to about to crash (reprise)....it sounds sooooooo cool. i loves it....

Misunderstood is my favourite on the first disk, but I love the second disk more.
