Happy birthday for the 20th good rats. I go to see Hell Is For Heroes on that day :P

good rats 04-16-2005 08:19 AM

It was pretty good, can't really remember it cause it was a while ago, but the neck was really nice and smooth. Overall it just played real nice.

fatbandit 04-16-2005 08:20 AM

Hell is for Heroes? What's your favorite song? Mine's Slow Song I think...

Ah, new strings... That fresh harpsichord sound...

rh15951 04-16-2005 08:23 AM

The Neon Handshake is just a fantastic album. I like Slow Song, Retreat, Few Against Many & I Can Climb Mountains the most. I remember hearing their 'I Can Climb Mountains' demo and was hooked. Gonna see them in Wrexham

good rats 04-16-2005 08:24 AM

Thanks guys. I'm still undecided as to what to get. I know it's gonna be a bass head. And unless I can find a good second hand one, I'm gonna get teh behringer BX3000t.

fatbandit 04-16-2005 08:24 AM

Wrexham? Rock On!

Save up a little more and get the Ashdown MAG 300. If you live in the UK, http://www.spectresound.co.uk do a fantastic price on it.

My god, I love it!

kilian 04-16-2005 08:28 AM

OK I'm back :p
I had to leave my bass there :upset: but they were really kind and gave me some discount on the price. The problem is that I don't have a bass when me and my band have a workshop with a famous dutch band! THAT sux. But I will think of a way..

I've also tried out (in another store):
- geddy lee jazz bass
- some ibanez 5 string bass (active)
- fretless jazz bass
- yamaha bass (active)

From those I liked the yamaha the most, it played better than all others and I was getting a nice tone out of it :) I didn't like the geddy so much, the tone wasn't so nice (for me). The Ibanez was OK, but the b string sounded awfull through the EBS setup. And the tone wasn't so superb.

Ah I don't remember names of the basses *_*

But within a week I will have: MY OWN JAZZ BASS with DIMARZIO MODEL J pickups and NEW POTMETERS ETC. The whole electronic section changed :smoke:
It will cost me 180 euro's (200 dollar). But hell!

fatbandit 04-16-2005 08:36 AM

Hmm. I thought my B wasn't dead. Turns out, on comparison to my other strings, it is. I need a new B... :upset:

Hmm, as much as I think these new strings are very funkay, I think they don't sound very bassy...

Thunder Fingers 04-16-2005 08:38 AM

fatbandit 04-16-2005 08:40 AM

fatbandit 04-16-2005 08:47 AM

Hmm. I can't really pump my amp up in the house, but it sounds okay when its amplified. Quite a cutting tone.

fatbandit 04-16-2005 08:48 AM

Ernie Ball Super Slinkies, 40-100

Plus a random 135 gauge string (whatever I can get around here)

Thunder Fingers 04-16-2005 08:50 AM

omgomgomgomgomg!!!111oneoen

I saw Fantomas last night and in 3 words I will describe the performance:
Amazing
Insane
Hilarious

At the beginning Mike Patton (singer) says before they start playing anything, "As a precaution before we start playing, the entire band is high on PCP!! So, in case anything sounds weird, you'll know why. And we'll know that you're laughing at us, not with us."
Then later on in the show he started singing a very operatic version of 'Blame Canada' from the South Park movie, which led into him chanting "USA, USA, USA," music goes crazy and fast and loud while he squeals and stuff into the mic, it slows again, "USA, USA, USA," and this went on for about 3 minutes.
Then one final thing to make fun of us Canadians before they left, it was an eearly show (ended at 9 o'clock) and when they came out for an encore he says "Okay, we need to make this a quick one. Really, apparently DJ Hockey Puck is coming on when we leave, so we need to hurry. But really, we need to head for the boarder before the cops catch onto us, Dave (Lombardo, the drummer, also in Slayer) is really a Cuban refugee."

Those are just the elements of hilarity throughout the night, you'd really need to hear the band to know why it was amazing and insane. :thumb:

fatbandit 04-16-2005 09:13 AM

Sounds cool, Spiff. I've only heard Bungle and FNM. Are Patton's other projects as good?

Spaceman Spiff 04-16-2005 09:20 AM

Personally, I love most of Patton's work.
If you want a more straightforward rock band, though they aren't entirely like that, you should check out Tomahawk. They're sort of a rock band, but not as normal as anything you'd hear on the radio, heavier also.

Fantomas is just weird. They have 4 albums out, and there is hardly any actual singing to be heard. A lot of the vocals are just him making sounds with his voice and screaming, and they do not have any set sound, besides, for the most part, heavy. Their second album was all covers of movie theme songs. Their newest album was written to sound a lot like video game and cartoon music, but still keeps the music heavy, as well as fast.

fatbandit 04-16-2005 09:24 AM

Got anything you could send me as an example?

Spaceman Spiff 04-16-2005 09:36 AM

Not at the moment, no.
But within a couple of days I will. Okay?

Actually, you can choose from their albums here and listen to some samples. This is for Fantomas.

PaulSimonon 04-16-2005 09:40 AM

Snap! Apparently, there's a decent sized instrument distributor down the road from me.......

PaulSimonon 04-16-2005 09:44 AM

Like, as in less than a mile from me, so close that on the map to it google made me, I can see exactly where my house is.

PaulSimonon 04-16-2005 09:47 AM

As in, if I zoom in on the sattelite map, I can see my dog, and my playhouse from my childhood.

BassVirtuoso 04-16-2005 09:49 AM

I want a satellite picture like that...got a link?

PaulSimonon 04-16-2005 09:52 AM

Search for a business near your house on google.

Spaceman Spiff 04-16-2005 09:54 AM

Or just go to:
http://maps.google.com

Switch to satellite, and put in your address and city, etc...

Radiobass81 04-16-2005 10:43 AM

Hey.

Miscounted... $80 to go, not $60.

Thunder Fingers 04-16-2005 11:08 AM
