ah what the hell, the p bass can wait another one, ill just take it full out and buy a fulltone...
How about you try a Marshall Guv'nor first? It's about 45 euros used and it can do mild overdrive to distortion pretty good. It's been a while since my muff days but I find that I can get more bass outta the Guv'nor compared to the Big Muff.
Honestly, if you're gonna spend that much on a pedal it better give you exactly what you need and then some

black_star 04-15-2005 11:04 AM

Can i just ask how old is everyone in here?

Mitchell Royce 04-15-2005 11:06 AM

How old are you?

Mitchell Royce 04-15-2005 11:06 AM

I'm 20 BTW.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:06 AM

Yeah, i have read that the fulltone can give me what ever i want..... (not in only 1 review either)

As long as it can give me an geddy overdrive im happy. maby tweak it to something museish...
i sent a mail to bass central and asked what they can advise me... if they advise me to the EBS multidrive, im gonna get it her, its the only thing thats ACTUALLY cheaper here than in USA...

im 18

gaslight 04-15-2005 11:08 AM

18.

Mitchell Royce 04-15-2005 11:08 AM

I've heard great things about the EBS multidrive. I'm not surprised it's cheaper for you, though.
Serisouly, I think the Fulltone is by far too expensive for what it can do(from the soundclips I've heard) and there's cheaper alternatives.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:09 AM

not me either, as the pedal is produced in europe, but its the same price as the fulltone....

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:10 AM

better alternatives? like what?

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:12 AM

Maby that brand new Tech 21 pedal? (no, not the Sansamp...)

black_star 04-15-2005 11:13 AM

i am 17.

18 on May 6

Mitchell Royce 04-15-2005 11:14 AM

Like I said, I find that the Marshall Guv'nor suits my needs for OD/Distortion pretty well and it's not even half the cost of those other pedals used.
It took me months to find it and I tried pretty much any OD/Distortion(It had to do both) unit I could get my hands on in shops. The Guv'nor was the thing that came the closest to what I wanted and I was prepared to spend a whole lot more.
I'm just suggesting that you try those units(the fulltone and EBS) out, because if you buy new you're gonna be at a big loss if they're not to your liking ultimatly.

black_star 04-15-2005 11:14 AM

i hate my E string, it's so thick, i wish i could take it off my bass and all the basses in the world

gaslight 04-15-2005 11:15 AM

I have a Marshall Jackhammer :).

Hurray for instruments, the one good part of life.

black_star 04-15-2005 11:16 AM

psh.. i live in norway, im gonna buy it from america, and i can sell it for more than what i bought it for here in norway ..:p and the fulltone dont sell here...

Mitchell Royce 04-15-2005 11:22 AM

Well, in that case it can't hurt. Still a ton of cash though.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:24 AM

yeah, but if i like it its a winner... and the Fulltone is supposed to be so versilate(sp?) that im realy doomed to find SOMETHING i like on it...

black_star 04-15-2005 11:28 AM

people talking about gear just makes me :(

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:33 AM

i dont trust norwegian music stores.. they just wanna sell.. they realy dont care what the customer want. they just take what ever they have in and give it to you...

gaslight 04-15-2005 11:36 AM

Stores will be stores, I suppose.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:38 AM

yeah, but clean bass stores kinda knows more than a store full of guitarists....

i think ill go down on monday and play with an EBS and Maby change the strings i bought somedays ago(i realy dont want flatwounds on my geddy...i expected to get a p bass alittle earlier than what i will if i get a OD/distortion now...)

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 11:44 AM

mmmm... i liked the sound f the boss overdrive actually(listens to soundclip on Boss's site)

fatbandit 04-15-2005 12:12 PM

I can't work out how to get a good distorted sound out of my Big Muff. Quite annoying. I can get it to mask the sound of the bass entirely, but that's poo. I want something like the bass on QOTSA's Little Sister, or that new Nine Inch Nails song. So its actually identifiable. Any suggestions (just messing about with it hasn't produced much...)?

Assuming you have a russian muff :naughty: Point the sustain to the 'O' on output and put the tone to the same level.

fatbandit 04-15-2005 12:33 PM

I'll try that! Any preferences for EQ settings?

fatbandit 04-15-2005 12:39 PM

And do you mean both set to pointing at the O, or the tone set to like 1 o'clock or whatever it is too?

rh15951 04-15-2005 12:40 PM

The 'O' in the word output.

rh15951 04-15-2005 12:41 PM

And EQ virtually flat, boost bass and treble slightly, drop hi-mids slightly. If you got a deep button, use that too.

fatbandit 04-15-2005 12:42 PM

Okay.

Thunder Fingers 04-15-2005 01:22 PM

ok... i have looked around and calculated alittle... there are barely any difference in price if i buy a Boss ODB3 here in norway or a Fulltone Bass Driver From USA... and nomather where i buy a EBS bassdrive from, the fullone bass drive is gonna be cheaper..:p

nisakss 04-15-2005 02:18 PM

Hey all....I'm falling asleep at the moment.....and there's still a couple of hours to go home.

fatbandit 04-15-2005 02:40 PM

Jamie 04-15-2005 02:56 PM

fatbandit 04-15-2005 03:08 PM
