where in Australia?
Victoria, Melbourne. Going to stay with my uncle for 3 weeks. Just quit work a couple of weeks ago and I was basically burnt out, was told by doctors to chill for a while before going into full time work again. I've had a couple of weeks at home and seeing friends and I'm off to Australia to recuperate. I still don't know what I want to do as a career so I'm just taking time off to chill and seriously think about what I want to do as I'm not very confident and I think I'd find it hard to progress in certain fields at managerial level. |
Sounds cool, Melbourne is a pretty nice place.

So I've heard. Apparently it's quite cold over there now as it's winter, colder than most tourists imagine so my uncle informs me but I can't imagine it would be worse than the winters here in the UK. I'm packing for all weathers anyways. :p |
It is rather cold, yes, but things are going to be warming up since we're 2/3 of the way through winter. Though Melbourne will probably be rather cold for a while, since it's in the south.

Ah damn I was looking forward to the nice warmish weather we've been having over in the UK the last few days. I'm going for 3 weeks so hopefully it will warm up while I'm there. |
It's been ridiculously warm here lately, but that's Queensland and a lot different from Melbourne. Melbourne rules so much though, it's my favourite city in Australia for sure. Try and get to some shows, there's a lot of good stuff on in Australia this month.
|
Melbourne is a great place to go for a holiday if you wanna check out cool culture and whatnot, but I don't think I would like living there. Sydney ftw.
|
Sydney ftw.
does everyone not in America drive Mini Coopers?
|
everyone in europe drives tiny lil cars with standard transmissions. the gas mileage must be great, too bad they dont have long distances to drive :-/
|
Maybe if you drive from one country to the next.
|
I hate how everyone in my town drives giant trucks.
they don't need them and it's not like our air isn't polluted enough already. |
People around here get trucks just to look cool. No practical purpose whatsoever.
|
Yeah. I know someone who lives by himself and owns a Hummer. Why?
|
To hide his loneliness. .-.
|
I ride a bicycle. ^--^
|
I walk and barely eat.
STUDENT LIFESTYLE WEIGHT LOSS FTW. |
I have a car but mostly ride my bike and the bus.

gas is super expensive there though. |
Yeah, isn't petrol supposed to be like $12USD per gallon?
|
If I had the ability to change things in the US, I'd set the gas prices really high so that people used more public transport.
|
Walking ftw. I don't really enjoy driving that much so I walk as often as I can.
|
I just stay at home. Problem solved.
|
I don't have my driver's license. I have a bicycle.
|
I used to walk everywhere before I could drive. Now I can drive and I hardly walk anymore, its really sad. It's made me so much lazier. I'm gonna resolve to walk more. Thanks guys!
Edit: I used to ride a lot as well, but my bike got stolen out my garage, and it was a nice one :(. Cost me about AUD$1000) |
I walk everywhere.

This. Or walk, and occasionally bus. And when I come home from college for weekends or something I will take the train. |
dei are you not from the US originally? you use a lot of non-American words and phrases.
|
It's no more than $6 anywhere I can think of. It's more heavily taxed and is more capital-intensive to import than in the US.
in spain you also see less non-commercial vehicles on the highways |

For some reason I started spelling words the British English way. Phrases? I don't know what you're talking about. But no, I was born and raised in the US. |

That's probably true. I don't know, man. Americans are so fat and lame and stupid and dumb and obese and all that summat. I've wanted to leave for a long time but I can't come up with a better reason than "America sux, lol."
