Element of LED 435 06-18-2006 12:06 PM

I know, its pretty dire. Funny though.

I think the swing covers are better.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-18-2006 03:40 PM
Yeah, its definately out now, but only on ytsejamrecords

Woah? your record shop stocks all DT related stuff? lucky.
If i wanna get anything even remotely obscure because none of the record shops near me stock anything like that. I found the jelly jam and elements of persuasion once but they were hideously overpriced
I've got the Mike Portnoy Magna Carta sessions from there, and tried to get the 2 LTE albums, but they went before I could get them sadly.

But yeah, they've had in at some point all DT albums, Petrucci/Rudess ones, all OSI albums, 2 of the 3 DT DVDs, and im pretty sure they had Element Of Persuasion.

Helps when the owner is a big prog fan, and DT nut. Just finds it hard to re-stock

Jev 06-18-2006 04:37 PM

Sounds like an awesome store, wish there was something like that here.

Liquid Fantasy 06-18-2006 05:12 PM

Definately man, when you hear the whole thing all the way through, it really puts the whole thing into context and you realise how much of a masterpiece the whole thing is
Isn't there Jingle Bells in Sacrificed Sons too?
Pretty sure it's in Octavarium

Where about on the site? I can't find it

ghettoeddo 06-19-2006 12:55 AM

jingle bells is on 8vm for a bit. well...a twisted version of it. but it's recognizable.

right before the acoustic guitar bit in the middle instrumental. and after guitar/keyboard shredding bit.

see i've got this song all figured out :]

Inkstar 06-19-2006 02:35 AM

Wow that's true ghetto. Just gave it a close listen.

oh yeah!! you're right, i just listened to it.
Wow...i thought you were joking.

Jev 06-19-2006 03:37 AM

There's a bit of Bohemian Rhapsody in there at the start with the piano bit.

inassociationwithdeanlearner 06-19-2006 03:43 AM

Does anyone know the concept behind octavarium?
Like how they had done eight studio albums and five live ones, so MP thought it was similar to the eight white notes and black notes of an octave on a keyboard. And that each song on the album went was written in ascending keys so the album was like an octave eg. track 1 = a track 2 =b etc until with octavarium it comes 'full circle' eventually ending on the same note that the root of all evil started on.

I think this is really clever.

Jev 06-19-2006 03:46 AM

What?
Is that disgust at the song I hope?

inassociationwithdeanlearner 06-19-2006 03:56 AM

I got banned from the DT forums:(
For posting this and claiming it was their greatest hits album:lol:

Jev 06-19-2006 04:04 AM

Haha that's a slightly Nazi banning.

inassociationwithdeanlearner 06-19-2006 04:12 AM

Yeah, they are pretty strict over there i think.

Firecracker 06-19-2006 05:02 AM

Haha, well done, I joined the MP forum, because I was bored waiting for my bus to come at the end of school after an exam.
Funny place.
What?

Yes it is, for some reason it won't let me post on the Dream Theater fourms

Jev 06-19-2006 05:27 AM

I don't really like band themed sites.
I'd run out of things to say.

Firecracker 06-19-2006 05:37 AM

I get like that in band particular threads, except maybe this one.

jpshortstuff 06-19-2006 05:44 AM

yeah, im a member of the DT forums but i dont really post. there isnt that much to talk about, unless you you enjoy endless "Best/Worst Album/Song" threads.

Firecracker 06-19-2006 05:49 AM

You have to really. Sometimes.
Go on and on about stuff beforementioned.

Jev 06-19-2006 05:58 AM

I doubt nothing's as bad as the Metallica forums though.

jpshortstuff 06-19-2006 06:01 AM
I doubt nothing's as bad as the Metallica forums though.
im guessing you couldn't wave your arms for fear of hitting a fanboy. not that hitting a Metallica fanboy is something you avoid.

Jev 06-19-2006 06:04 AM

Pretty much.

Every page was filled of about 12 threads, all with the same subject just worded differently. Then I went to the General Discuccion forum and it was stuff like "jaymz is so awsum" and "what colour do you think Jaymz car is" and then I left.

Firecracker 06-19-2006 06:08 AM

I hate Metallica anyway, so I guess I would never go there and suffer so much.

inassociationwithdeanlearner 06-19-2006 09:42 AM
I hate Metallica anyway, so I guess I would never go there and suffer so much.
 i used to really like them, but then i got superbored with them...same with alot of bands really. But i you're right about band themed forums...Mx is good because you can discuss lots of different bands, although i do tend to stick to this thread.

I never really run out of things to say about DT though, there really is alot to discuss.

Lord Abortion 06-19-2006 02:00 PM

There is indeed, as far as forums go, I'm a member of the Cannibal Corpse one, but no others.

I actually laughed at that. Metallica fanboys annoy to no end (although so do ones for some of my favorite bands.)
