I actully loved Dave's vocals when he did Sweating Bullets at Gigantour last year.
BTW does anyone know what's going on with Gigantour 2? I know nothing about it and I'm getting really anxious.

Nothing's been officially announced. He said it'll come later in the month. I'm hopin' for Symphony X to come back.

Hevy Tred 05-11-2006 06:54 PM

Hopefully it gets a bigger reception.

I heard last years was pretty empty at some places.

I'm hoping Opeth are on it. I'd love to see them again, seeing as how I saw them in October but they came to Pittsburgh in Feb and not Philly or Atlantic City.

I've heard rumors about Opeth, especially seeing as how their South American tour was pushed back, but I don't know if Dave would even consider them because they're death metal.

Yep, it was kind of empty in San Diego and it wasn't a big venue.
Some of the rumored bands were Overkill, Venom and Dragonforce i read something about it on wikipedia, but sometimes i just don't trust the wiki system.
but I don't know if Dave would even consider them because they're death metal.
Opeth has dark lyrics, but none of them are like kill everyone or anti-christian, Dave wouldn't have a problem with the band.

pep 05-11-2006 09:59 PM

Hmmm, it may have been said before, but when is the new gigantour site comming up?

Blue Collar Man 05-11-2006 10:48 PM
Hmmm, it may have been said before, but when is the new gigantour site comming up?
I've been checking it frequently but all it shows is that ominous Gigantour2 which just makes me extremely anxious. That would be amazing if Opeth were on it and Dragonforce too. That would probably bring a lot more people.

Opeth aren't death metal. But yeah like Heavy Metal Kid said, Dave would only have a problem with them if they had Anti-Christian, Satan praising lyrics.

vashts80 05-11-2006 11:04 PM
Opeth aren't death metal.
lolz. Just...lolz.

...And Venom aren't Anti-Christian?

Guys, use common sense.

I'd say Butcher is right.

When did Megadeth last play with Venom?

No you fool, Opeth are not death metal.
I'd say Butcher is right.

Dave used/likes to like Venom.. there's a few pictures around of him with Metallica, he's wearing a Venom tshirt, maybe that's where he's going with that.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-12-2006 02:10 AM

yeah, Metallica, Megadeth etc etc were all influenced by Venom. I thought he meant they toured with them recently.

It's not like Venom are actually serious about that stuff anyway.

gmoneyguy 05-12-2006 02:16 AM
No you fool, Opeth are not death metal.
Quoted for truth. Listen to Opeth and Cryptopsy and its clear the Opeth is not Death Metal.

Mother 05-12-2006 04:36 AM

Lol Cryptopsy makes Cannibal Corpse look like just plain Heavy Metal.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-12-2006 05:52 AM

.....that was random

Lord Abortion 05-12-2006 07:07 AM
Lol Cryptopsy makes Cannibal Corpse look like just plain Heavy Metal.
It depends what eras you're looking at, if you're thinking about early CC(first three albums) then nah, but Cryptopsy were much more technical at that point. Cryptopsy are tech-death, really, and CC are still brutal death, although they have elements of technicality nowadays...but you can't say eaten back to life is in any way tech...but The wretched spawn certainly is more so. Cryptopsy just don't stand out much for me...

Enlighten Me 05-12-2006 09:23 AM

Thrash > Death

Drone 05-12-2006 10:29 AM

Opeth was asked to be on Gigantour 2 and they are seriously considering it.

Mother 05-12-2006 10:31 AM

I have a feeling testament may be on the bill

Crysiss 05-12-2006 10:36 AM
Opeth was asked to be on Gigantour 2 and they are seriously considering it.
Oh yayer, I hope they do it.

they better hurry rounding up bands, Summer is just around the bend

Blue Collar Man 05-12-2006 12:23 PM

Hey guys I just read that Arch Enemy are officially confirmed for Gigantour 2 and they are the only band that is officially on it so far. Besides Megadeth obviously. But man, Opeth would be amazing I really hope they join this.

Jev 05-12-2006 01:06 PM

Opeth on Gigantour coming here would be creamworthy.

GenuineImitation 05-12-2006 01:35 PM

If Opeth is on, I defiently need to go.

Drone 05-12-2006 02:05 PM

In the interview with Mikael that I have, he says that he wants to do it, BUT the tour goes through his only time off from touring and his wife doesn't want him to go. :p

From what I know about Mikael's personality, though, I think he will do it. I can't see him turning down a tour with one of the big 4 of the 80's.

Jev 05-12-2006 02:11 PM

He'd be mad to not do it.

Drone 05-12-2006 02:14 PM

Yes. I will be very surprised if he doesn't, but Dave has got to give them the co-headlining spot. It would be pointless to give Opeth 45 minutes, especially if a poopy band like Anthrax (IMO) got the co-headlining spot.

Jev 05-12-2006 02:19 PM

I think Opeth will get co-headliners. :)

Mother 05-12-2006 03:42 PM

So, megadeth just got singed to roadrunner.

I never liked roadrunner ... But still. Its not like I can do any thing about it.

Jev 05-12-2006 03:56 PM

Ugh.
I don't know why, but I don't like this.

Lord Abortion 05-12-2006 04:02 PM

Relax, kids...It's Megadave...he's not going to screw people over because he signed the band to a Major-label company.

Jev 05-12-2006 04:08 PM

Yeah Dave is too awesome to sell out... I hope.

*cough* Risk *cough*

Apocalyptic Raids 05-12-2006 09:20 PM

meh, I don't think what label they're signed to will make much of a difference, even though Roadrunner have pretty crap bands these days.

They used to have some awesome bands back in the late 80's/early 90's though.

GenuineImitation 05-12-2006 09:40 PM
Relax, kids...It's Megadave...he's not going to screw people over because he signed the band to a Major-label company.
I agree. Look at Opeth for an example. They signed to RoadRunner, but they are the same band. Megadeth will always be the Megadeth we know and love.

heavy metal kid 05-12-2006 09:46 PM

did Megadeth really signed on RR? I haven't seen anything on RR page or Megadeth.com.

Im not sure. It sounds like they did from the posts, but it could all be speculation.

Opeth are progressive death, with jazz influence (That phrase has been used forever) But you cant lump opeth together with cryptopsy and all that.

They are Opeth for that reason.

Opeth > all
