Anyway, today's listening.

Four Tet - Rounds (4/5)
The Jolly Rogers - Demo (3.5/5)
Nujabes / Fat Jon - Departure (2.5/5 - it'd be a 4 if it had a vocalist)
The Decemberists - Castaways & Cutouts (3.5/5)

OrbDragon 08-01-2005 09:32 AM

Heard alot of good things about Andrew Bird...what do you recommend by him?

Iai 08-01-2005 09:34 AM

I only have The Mysterious Production Of Eggs. It's definitely worth checking out.
Mad World. Donnie Darko. That guy.
Oh yeah that's a cool version. Thanks.

ATM 08-01-2005 12:16 PM
Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld

this kind of sucks. I'm disappointed.
I only heard one song from them, and I loved it.

Interstate 08-01-2005 01:13 PM

Fugazi - The Argument
The Futureheads - S/T (after Nacho saying it was good the whole way through I decided to listen again. And he's right. :p )

First listens of:
KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope - I was expecting this to be really crap but I'm over half way through and it's surprisingly good. (4/5)
Anthony And The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now (4-4.5/5)

Next up is Brendan Benson - The Alternative To Love - I'm excited about this album as I downloaded two songs and absolutely loved them.
I only have The Mysterious Production Of Eggs. It's definitely worth checking out.
I tried to download that twice from the YSI thread and each time it got to 95% and then 'completed' itself. My pc sucks :upset:

Vinny Miller - Pigpen 7"
{download}

asymm 08-01-2005 02:07 PM

Everyone should download Vinny Miller's little single for the last song, "Bagged And Tagged". It's gorgeous. His music is mostly acoustic singer/songwriter stuff. But, this debut 7" is much more eclectic than his full release is.

FlawedPerfection 08-01-2005 03:39 PM

My bands lately
1. Muse
2. Dredg
3. At the Drive In

Very odd mix... but all so great.

Little Man being Erased 08-01-2005 03:52 PM

Buck 65's Talkin' Honky Blues is totally excellent.

Also:
The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan

Luxor 08-01-2005 04:33 PM

Sage Francis
Gym Class Heroes
The Most Serene Republic

The NPC 08-01-2005 05:50 PM

Xinlisupreme - Murder License
Xinlisupreme - Tomorrow Never Comes
Tiger Army - TA3: Ghost Tigers Rise

Much thanks to the excellent TalkingHead for recommending/uploading Xinlisupreme. They are an awesome Japanese post rock/noise rock band.
Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow
Same.

I'm only on my first listen through but I'm very glad that the Banhart is experimenting within his realm of style. It's still distinctly him, but the changes are evident and a very solid progression from where he was.

Little Man being Erased 08-01-2005 11:05 PM

Since my last post I've listened to Talkin' Honky Blues again, a bunch of random stuff, and then Elliott Smith's Roman Candle.

I'm in love with the one 20 Minute Loop song I've heard. I need to get Yawn + House = Explosion.

Luxor 08-01-2005 11:31 PM

I finally got Roman Candle. Elliott's best work pixies? C'mon.

Little Man being Erased 08-01-2005 11:35 PM

I think it's great, but not his best. XO still holds that place for me, but I haven't got the self-titled album or Either/Or yet.

asymm 08-01-2005 11:38 PM

I'm still lacking Roman Candle, but I definitely view Either/Or as easily his best. Easily.

Zappa 08-01-2005 11:39 PM

Either/Or and XO are the best Elliott albums. Roman Candle has ups and downs, and those other two really just have ups.
