Well i'd say slash, duff, matt sorum, dave kushner and scott weiland are WAY better than good charlotte. most of them were rocking while good charlotte was still in diapers.
What a revolutionary statement, you are wise beyond your years.

thickasabrick 09-30-2004 09:17 PM

can i ask how many people are in this thread right now? anyone worth talking to?

Seafroggys 09-30-2004 09:48 PM

Coolest thing I saw on a TV order channel.

One was a robotic cleaner (I really wanted to buy one...okay, off-topic big time).

But I saw an acoustic guitar with a built in pick-up and an EQ on the side, that comes with an amp. This guy was playing through the amp, and it sounded all normal (like micing an acoustic). Then he turned the overdrive button on and it sounded just like your badass distorted guitar, except it wasn't electric!

Of course, this probably can easily be done already, and I'm sure people have tried this.

The Neil Young Electric vs. Acoustic debate reminded me of this.

Btw, listening to Glass Onion by Beatles.

BludgeonySteve 09-30-2004 09:51 PM

Whoever ask if Neil Young is better, acoustic or electric? Obviously his acoustic songs are better. But he displays more skill while playing electric. So i'd say it's even.

thickasabrick 09-30-2004 09:57 PM

seafroggys: was the guy named Esteban or something like that? I've seen that a lot, its fun to watch. I have no clue how he could be selling a guitar, an amp, a case, strings, instructional movie and picks all for like a hundred bucks. Must be the cheapest made crap ever.

(ya I tried distorting my acoustic/electric, all i got was bad feedback)

thickasabrick 09-30-2004 10:20 PM

is anyone around?? i just tried playing a neil young song, but i accidently clicked on a nelly furtado song which was right below it....its called "try". i had never heard it before but its not bad, shes got talent.

edit- ya wrong thread i realize but oh well. i only like to post in this one.

BludgeonySteve 09-30-2004 10:22 PM

Yeah I actually like that song.

One thing to remember. On weeknights us kiddies don't post as much as on weekends. So don't be sitting around for 20 minutes waiting for the next post because it might not happen for a while.

THats why they make acoustic/electric amps.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 09:00 AM

Anyone who comes in here and complains about how all new rock sucks should get banned. It's a classic rock thread, not a "bash-all-new-rock-because-popular-opinion-currently-swings-that-way" thread

gmoneyguy 10-01-2004 09:01 AM

They do get banned...if they get caught, but usually they are just ignored.

magicbus 10-01-2004 10:43 AM

We should get a way to keep noobs out.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-01-2004 12:25 PM

New Topic.

candy apples>all other candied food items :thumb:

Woodstock 10-01-2004 01:09 PM

I think Neil Young was a better electric guitarist than acoustic.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 01:10 PM

Have you ever heard Tori Amos' cover of Heart of Gold? Kicks arse.

Actually, she gets my vote as one of the best singers/songwriters ever. You better believe it.

Woodstock 10-01-2004 01:20 PM

^I heard Tori Amos had her hands insured for her piano playing.

???

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 01:32 PM

Probably, she's an amazing musician. Should hear some of the stuff on piano she comes up with...

MalcolmYoungRock 10-01-2004 01:41 PM

She covered Smells Like Teen Spirit.... :upset:

That was terrible.

Anyway... minimum day bitches!!

Thats why i'm home early. hahaha.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 01:42 PM

She also covered Slayer's "Raining Blood" and it was great.

MalcolmYoungRock 10-01-2004 01:43 PM

Good god...

The Smells Like Teen Spirit was FUNNY as hell though.

Think about... piano player in bar singing grunge.

Great stuff..

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 01:44 PM

Yeah..she did a whole cover album. Everyone from Young to Depeche Mode to Slayer, it was good.

But anyways...

I got another Zeppelin bootleg today. You haven't heard Zeppelin until you've heard them live.

MalcolmYoungRock 10-01-2004 01:46 PM

I've listened to HTWWW and the DVD. That's made a believer out of me.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 01:47 PM

Those are cool, but these are just normal everyday shows, and sometimes you hear some AMAZING stuff. Some are just recorded by people in the audience. They're amazing.

BludgeonySteve 10-01-2004 01:53 PM

That's true. I've noticed that none of their shows are ever the same. They always change and improve the songs.

edit: nice going paronidd. Your Billy talent rant made fall off of my chair laughing (ouch :().

gmoneyguy 10-01-2004 02:36 PM

That might also be beacuase Jimmy is drunk when he plays live.

BludgeonySteve 10-01-2004 02:40 PM

Possibly. But it's a good thing if it means that he plays like that.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 02:44 PM

Thanks :D

I was ranting live in my lunchroom at work when I saw they had a full page article on the band in the Toronto Star newspaper. Argh. Drives me nuts.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 02:44 PM
Possibly. But it's a good thing if it means that he plays like that.
Actually you can hear him make alot of mistakes in the shows, hence my opinion that Page was pretty sloppy.

gmoneyguy 10-01-2004 02:48 PM

Page himself admits it.

Paranoidd 10-01-2004 02:49 PM

Yup.

Nontheless, he still was great. One of the marks of a great musician is to be able to admit where you were great/bad due to drugs/alcohol.

BludgeonySteve 10-01-2004 02:56 PM

And he was less sloppy earlier in his carrer. HTWWW was mostly stuff from later in their carrer.

gmoneyguy 10-01-2004 02:58 PM

He says it beacause he played his guitar so low, that it made it hard for him to reach the strings.

Badmoon 10-01-2004 02:59 PM

Pearl Jam covered "Masters of War" by Bob Dylan on Letterman last night. They did good

gmoneyguy 10-01-2004 03:00 PM

Cool, to bad they don't show reruns.

Badmoon 10-01-2004 03:00 PM

Yeah, and change that usertitle you fucker!!
