sloth wasn't good anyway

Surf 09-13-2007 07:44 PM

His writing was ok, but he seemed a cool guy. At least when he wasn't plagiarising.

Picked up If I Should Fall From Grace With God on vinyl the other day. Awesome.

RunAmokRampant 09-13-2007 07:56 PM

Reading 'Utilitarianism' by John Stuart Mill. It's okay but I prefer other more extremist political philosophers like Machiavelli, Rousseau, or Marx. Not because I agree with them, but I find their ideas more amusing.

Surf 09-13-2007 07:58 PM

I've decided that I don't read enough non-fiction so I've picked up the God Delusion. Its written pretty well, and its talking about ideas I've been edging towards lately. Dawkins is a bit of a twat though.

Got The Satanic Verses for after that.

RunAmokRampant 09-13-2007 08:05 PM

The Satanic Verses is killer.

Speaking of the God Delusion, some Mormons rang the front door and I opened the door while I had teh book in my hand in plain sight and they looked at it, sighed, and walked off.

TheBigMachine 09-14-2007 01:29 AM

Ha! Classic man, classic.
I don't read much here, boarding is school isnt the best environment to be reading in, especially when it comes to books with depth. It's to hard to concentrate. And you can't have the lights on because everyone is trying to sleep. Oh well.

Im reading the Betrayal trinity by Fiona McIntosh, just started the first book. Its not to bad so far, has anyone else read it?

On a side note, Im going to post something now.
Maybe even critique.

Good lord.

Ulysses is epic. It took me ages to read. But it gives me good quotes for my facebook status

Huw is the snotgreen sea. The scrotum tightening sea.

Dostoyevski I found really dry. Only read the Idiot though. Dr Jekyll I haven't read in years and years.

Might do some critting seeing as this is the first time I've been properly sober in a week or so.

Put a new piece up. Not sure why.

TheBigMachine 09-17-2007 01:44 AM

Hey surf thanks again for the crit. I did mean decadent, I wasnt sure how to spell it though.

TojesDolan 09-19-2007 04:02 PM

I made a critique and it felt goo.

slack 09-22-2007 10:10 AM

We watched Cabaret in class the other day. Great, great, great film.

i am the robots 09-24-2007 12:30 PM

i did a haiku for the lc, is that acceptable?

TojesDolan 09-24-2007 12:35 PM

Sure but I bet it sucks.

i am the robots 09-24-2007 12:37 PM

It does but whatever.

Surf 09-26-2007 07:17 AM

I'm still on shaky internet at the moment. I'll try and get a few crits done, but it keeps cutting out.

Sup people?

TojesDolan 09-26-2007 03:35 PM

Nothing much I'll critique your materials.

Because I have to moderate. :I

RunAmokRampant 09-27-2007 02:34 AM

Meh my internetz is capped and i'm on dial-up and couldn't be arsed posting much. Will crit more next month i suppose, if im not too bust with school work.

Surf 09-27-2007 06:39 AM

Being in a house with six lazy guys means that not much gets done quickly, but we'll get internet eventually.

And our power might get turned off in a few days.

TojesDolan 09-27-2007 07:58 AM

The downside of living with other guys.

:I

I prefer that over living with my grandmother, who spent last night TWO GOD DAMN HOURS praying, makingme go to sleep at 2 am.

Awesome, just bloody awesome.

Surf 09-29-2007 06:07 AM

But at least you're gonna have a clean soul.

Got my timetable for this semester:

Introduction to film
Creative writing module that I forgot the name of

Three days off so I'll have to get a job, and no actual english work.

TojesDolan 09-29-2007 08:11 AM

I don't have free time.

RunAmokRampant 10-01-2007 05:38 AM

Sick, internet is back up quicker. I will post some crits now. Why is And Nico's thread still up? I can't believe how much attention that has had.

evildaveuk 10-01-2007 02:48 PM

WHy the hell cant i start my own thread??? i have an activated account! Anyway im trying to find a vocalist for my band where can i post to advertise!?

thanx.

i am the robots 10-01-2007 03:02 PM

Try the classifieds section, and you can't post threads because you just joined.

Wait one day, don't lose your breath.

Surf 10-07-2007 05:52 PM

There is no classifieds section.

But don't post it in here, that probably won't go anywhere and the thread'll spam up and people will laugh at you.

And tojes, can you close the 'i wouldn't breathe that air' thread? Its pretty much run its course I guess

RunAmokRampant 10-08-2007 02:01 AM

Yer I said that in post 6671 like a week ago. It's a bit annoying having something pretty insipid get so much attention.

Surf 10-10-2007 06:12 AM

Ah well its closed now anyway.

Started a new piece using 'Objective Correlation', something they've been telling us about in lectures and that. Seems a cool idea, so might post up what I've got soon.
