There has been a thread on grunge but it can go here, but I wouldnt advise starting it because it doesnt get very far.
I just thought that since threads about bands like Soundgarden and Alice In Chains always seem to go down like a lead balloon then the combined might of every single grunge band might make a realistic thread, you're probably right but surely there are enough Tool fans on this site to feed a small army of carniverous penguins.....?

SonorKen 07-16-2005 05:07 PM

When all the Tool fans show up in R&M the forums IQ collectively raises to unmeasurable levels.

R&M has one of the best Tool community's on the net!

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-16-2005 05:11 PM

Ken- Don't get too ahead of your self. There are quite a few moronic Tool fans on this site. less than normal, yes.

Anyways, I've had this idea for a while, but the thread asking about FA's reminded me of it..I've been thinking of starting a thread with links to all of the Series, and FA's and FG's and other important threads. I know there are some in the rules, but I could maintain it and bump it every week or so, or sticky it. I'd like some input on it, mods.

3074326 07-16-2005 05:17 PM

That's probably something that should just be posted in the thread with the rules. Not having it stuck would kind of defeat the purpose of it.

You can gather whatever you were going to put in the thread and I'll put the links in the rules, though. As long as they're deserving, obviously.

SonorKen 07-16-2005 05:19 PM

Yea, thats a good Idea Doc. It's my fault that I haven't kept those updated. If you would compile all of the links for me I would appreciatte it and will repay your work with rep.. Thanks for your help man.

Lunch 07-16-2005 05:36 PM

I think Bartender has kept up with linking (in the rules) the FA's, some of Riva's Monday Night Mayhems, and Med's Great Years in Music, but not any of the individual series we have going on right now.

brettberry 07-16-2005 05:39 PM

I know this is way off subject but I just want to say that Lunch has the best posts I have seen In the R&M forum

Thank you Stoic for MagicalTroll's and NJ's series.

If I forgot any great threads(which I think I may have) feel free to post more links to good threads/series and I will add it to my list, or a mod can add them to the rules. I did go back through 15 pages looking for them, so I'm guessing I got a good portion of them.

Oh, and to whoever is going to put this in the rules- I made it easier by hyperllinking so you didn't have to, so just reply to this, then copy paste all of the text minus this. It's probably obvious, but yeah, just felt like clarifying.

MAthiAS 07-16-2005 09:53 PM

Alright, what would you guys say to me doing a top 100 vocalists poll after Iai's next poll?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-16-2005 09:56 PM

Mxican/Six Foot Revolver has dibs on the poll after Iai. After that I think it's open though.

Lunch 07-16-2005 10:00 PM

That shouldn't be for awhile though (what's MXican's poll about?). But hasn't the bassist poll been going on for a few months?

MAthiAS 07-16-2005 10:02 PM

Ah, I wasn't aware of MXican having the poll after that, but I guess I can still get my name in there.

Dried Muffin Remnants 07-16-2005 10:03 PM

I thought some of us requested a Drum Poll, long before?

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-16-2005 10:04 PM

Yeah, the polls take forever to run their full course. I don't know what MXican's will be about, but I know he told me that he would be doing one. But yeah, Mathias, I wouldn't start making too solid of plans yet because it will probably be a good 4-6 months before you get any oppurtunity

:upset: True that. I had a legit thread for AIC and it failed miserably. It had uploads, a biography, discography, etc...

MAthiAS 07-16-2005 10:08 PM

Fair enough.

Iai's is modern rock right? And there has been some talk for a while about a drummers poll, before the bassists poll.

Bartender didn't mention MXican's poll over in the Site forum where I asked first, oh well, I'll still keep it in mind as the next polls take their course.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-16-2005 10:10 PM

Yes, Iai's is modern rock. Noone has mentioned running a drummers poll, and I'm not sure what MXican's is going to be on, or if he still plans on running one. I'll check with him when I talk to him next.

MAthiAS 07-16-2005 10:12 PM

Okay, thanks for the info. I'll keep checking this thread too. :)

Jake: You're about to get another entry for the Heavy Metal article. And I guess it wasn't stickied before, so oh well.

The new one is cool: it's like a cross between FAs on Ritchie Blackmore and Eddie Van Halen and the same old stuff we've been talking about.

I think what he meant was that the idea is similar.

Lunch 07-17-2005 11:16 AM

I thought he meant that there should be a record kept of them like the FAs in the rules, but nevermind.
