Koscheck is a dick
I like him, I get why everyone hates him but I like him all the same. GSP is a dullard. Edit: yeah, like moP said don't get too hung up on cpu speed. May I ask why you're specifically wanting a multicore (I presume youre after quadcore) processor? Also if I were you, don't pay for an OS, just "acquire" one once you have the machine. Windows is an absoltue RIPOFF, and they also charge you to install it for you which is ludicrous. |
yeah there needs to be more weapons in lfd2
also there should be a way to get jockeys and other enemies off of your even without the help of someone
what would be the point of having more weapons and if you hate teamplay so much what's the point of even playing an online game in the first place |
...So you want a whole new PC then? :P
Haha yeah it would seem that way :p for the record, I actually looked at just buying a new base unit, I was surprised to find that it'd be at least £500-600 for a base unit that matches what I can achieve with £350ish. I didn't think the difference would be that vast.
I don't know those specific motherboards or processors well myself, i'm more of an intel man meself but I do use Asus and Gigabyte mobos a lot. Gigabytes generally are cheaper so that overclocker's pack is a bit confusing as to what you're paying for.... maybe it has more features than the Asus - best thing to do is just compare feature lists.
Well the processor is a higher model, for a start (dabs is 955, overclockers is 965). And it's Corsair RAM that strikes me as more legit that this Patriot RAM offered by dabs. That could be me being completey naive though. It's easy to enough to find feature lists for each motherboard, so I guess I'll just do that. Tbh, it might actually be cheaper to buy the parts individually...
Generally my advice here is to not get too caught up with clock speed because it doesn't make a huge difference sometimes (i've been running a 2GHz Core2Duo since 2007 and it's only just about starting to show it's age - its futureproofed for a few years yet), but then again I remember the interface (hypertransport, isn't it?) is different.... i'm kinda the wrong guy to talk to about AMDs :P
I'm not clued-up on processors, let alone AMD specifically lol. Nevertheless, if I'm looking at quad-core processors, I'd rather go for the ones that might cost a tiny bit more but produce a higher clock speed. Just to be on teh safe side :)
The best thing you can do is just find manuals of any motherboards you're interested in and just find the appropriate specs of the CPU,RAM e.t.c and just match the numbers. A lot of mobo manuals even tell you how to build the bloody thing :)
How do i find motherboard manuals? Do you just mean the spec, and then work out what it will take?
Oh and in terms of cost - ALWAYS check Microdirect. In the years I've been building machines, they've almost never been beaten on price.
Thanks! I've been looking for similar stores to dabs so I'll check that place out now. Cheers man
yeah, like moP said don't get too hung up on cpu speed. May I ask why you're specifically wanting a multicore (I presume youre after quadcore) processor?
Just for a generally smoother Pro Tools experience. i've got some pretty intensive plug-ins, figured upgrading to quad-core from dual-core would help a lot? Like I say though, I'm not all that well clued-up on this kinda thing.
Also if I were you, don't pay for an OS, just "acquire" one once you have the machine. Windows is an absoltue RIPOFF, and they also charge you to install it for you which is ludicrous.
Wouldn't that be risky though? Don't want my OS to just drop-out one day in the middle of doing soemthing because it isn't legit. |
Put it this way, myself, my dad, and my brother havent bought a copy of windows in about 15 years.
And my dad owns his own software development company and my brother is a pretty high-level programmer in SEO. |
Lol touche :p maybe I will then.

Ubuntuuuuuuu

+1 to Ubutnu, or at least dual boot.
Also, buy Windows properly. £75 for Windows 7 OEM and £35 for XP isn't bad, and you use it every single day, all day. GW was a bit mental today, did £2100 selling plastic soldiers. Mental. |

Have work at 11 so I won't be able to watch the ppv live, which kinda sucks. I'd love for GSP to take Kos out standing up. |

Manufacturer's websites. ALWAYS check these if you need any drivers/info/e.t.c. 2. You can buy legit versions of windows 7 for 30 quid if you're a student with a .ac.uk address - google 'the ultimate steal' |

Yeah I forgot about trying for student discount, if all else fails I can get my sister's boyfriend to help me out, he gets massive discount because he works for the NHS. Thanks for the help, I'll report back when I've made some progress. Sup lod? Blackpool FC, 3 points away from home to a good Stoke team yesterday :) well happy with that. Not so happy with the shoddy-ness that is Liverpool though... |

I'd rather burn money than spend it on football.

your choice.
as spending it was mine. |

I'm learning to hate being in what is essentially a customer service job. Customers want something and we spend like a month on it... just going to finish it on time as is. Then a week, on a Friday usually at 8-10 p.m., before they want to file they go and change 1/4th of the shit. Then I get called on a Saturday by my boss asking when I can work over the weekend. Of course work trumps anything I'd rather do. Now after working for 6 1/2 hours yesterday it is looking like I'm probably going to be working 10+ hour days until Friday to get this crap done. *sigh* |
What do you do?
|
XBRL
Essentially I work for a software company who's program is used by customers to file their quarterly/yearly reports to the SEC in XBRL (SEC standard of XML). I do half the work for "software" companies and all the work for "service" companies. |

Do you only code in XML or do you know/use any other languages?

The Liverpool midfield wasn't too bad, pretty good at passing the ball around and got plenty of crosses in, more than we did. But while we've got an in-form striker getting on the end of everything Liverpool have got a ponce, as there's no other way you could describe the way Torres played tbh! He was pretty poor. Sol campbell did his best to give Liverpool more goals but thank God for Tim Krul! |
Then the special infected would be even more gimped compared to the survivors than their already are. I meant in campaign mode. Also, in survival mode they could have made it so that your attacks went more than 2 feet as zombies. also one hit kills lol so lame
what would be the point of having more weapons and if you hate teamplay so much what's the point of even playing an online game in the first place
lol it's not teamplay its just shitty. just been watching the gameplay vids for Crysis 2; their new engine looks great. |
What do you do for a living baz?
Actually I don't really code. I use two programs which essentially code in the background. The first we use to build the structure of the Taxonomy. This is done for both software/service clients. The second (which is actually made by the company I work for) is where you apply the information (Data and all it's attributes) to the structure. Software clients do this themselves, I do it for Service clients. Once again, essentially does the coding in the background giving the user a GUI to work with. I don't really know XML... I can figure it out looking at it due to knowing a little HTML (which XML is closely related to) and just generally having a coding background (C++ mostly). Very rarely do we actually have to go into the code itself and fix something. P.S. - It would be physically impossible to code this stuff by hand in any where near the time we have to complete this stuff. |

I was in the Gallowgate end! Fucking Torres, more like Tosser. The way he was trying to wind Barton up was disgracefull. Great Game all in all! |

The game was built around teamplay, they're not forcing anything. |
bro, if a zombie jumped on me like that i would not immediately become a little bitch who can't control his movements or do anything to protect myself
its forced teamplay because you can't do shit unless one of your other people comes and shoots them. |
