You know, I was just thinking the same thing. They said it was gonna be shown on TV in December 2004, and out on DVD by early '05!

Lies...ALL LIES!

This new Family Guy premiere is hilarious. I'm wondering if I should write a thrash tune about Star Wars since I've been bored and I'm becoming impatient for Revenge of the Sith.

I also sampled Horrorscope on CDNOW. Good stuff :D

Apocalyptic Raids 05-01-2005 10:40 PM

Thrash + Star Wars = WINNAH!

You could do a concept album!

Speaking of hassle from friends, recently one of them told me Eye Of The Tiger was the most influential song in the world. I started laughing rather hard, so he asked me what i thought was the most influential song. Before i could think he said "say any thrash or death metal and i will laugh"
Obviously i dont think thrash or death has influenced the entire world, but its influenced a great deal more than that song

Thrash from the 80s was one of extreme metals biggest influnces.

The only reason people listen to eye of The Tiger is cos its on Rocky. :p

Yeah, I get that kind of stuff too. Friends like "Check out this band," I listen, say I don't like it much (usually its some post-hardcore screamo crap), and they go "Well of course you don't its not 80s metal." Or some girl like "Why don't you like emo?" I say something about its childish lyrics, annoying vocals, and boring riffs, and she goes "Its way better than some 40 year old trying to write music."

Actually, funniest story was when our school's girls track team won this big competition thing and all day they were talking about it so much I just go "Jesus fucking Christ we get it, you won, shut the hell up about it" and this girl goes (I was wearing a Megadeth shirt at the time) "I don't see Megadeth winning any fucking trophies."

Ha! I take it you just laughed at them?

HappyMarshmellow 05-02-2005 05:06 PM

I'm sure you thrashards will appreciate this very much... I'm told this band is pretty hard to find outside of Puerto Rico, and I know that even on p2p programs this group is hard to find.

Here's a track from Cardinal Sin. It's old school thrash metal.

I get pure bullcrap like that force fed to me all the time, and then people just tell me, "you just don't appreciate good music", or that I "don't have any taste in music", when all they listen to is that Post-harcore/scremo/nonsense. I'm really fucking sick of these idiots

Griffin_Page 05-02-2005 11:55 PM

Well, since I'm gonna end up having to play lead guitar in my band, im taking it on... ive been working on those solos from Hangar 18... man, i really should've learned how to play lead a while ago, it would've been easier. The first four are pretty easy... except the second one, because i have no sweep technique yet. I guess this week is a good time to ****ing practice it huh? Those solos ****ing rip tho.. Friedman is a god!

I'm listening to Sodom's M-16 on my guitar break... this and Enemy of God are probably my most played new albums ever. I actually like this Sodom cd more than Agent Orange... more of a fuzzy guitar tone and more to the riffs i think. I'm into those real buzzy, more midrange oriented tones, Agent Orange's guitar sound wasn't the kind i like. Those were some great songs tho.

Sodom, Destruction and Kreator need to tour again!

Griffin_Page 05-03-2005 12:00 AM

I don't really get hassled much about my music... life is pretty good. Still, there are those hardcore kids.. but ive learned how to deal with them:
"What are you listening to, Griffin?"
"****in' Kreator, what the hell do you think?"
"Oh, thats that growly/death **** huh? I can't take that **** dude"
"Too heavy for you?"
*Blank*

So much for his As I Lay Dying and Senses Fail.

DisposableHeroes 05-03-2005 09:51 AM

The worst i get is "all your bands are suicidal", but more recently something i laughed off was the friend i mentioned a while back basically saying Bowling For Soup were one of the most influential bands in the world. More so than the Beatles even, apparently. Why does he think this? Because "BFS wrote a song about being chased down the street by a man with a shovel"

I used to have trouble with sweeping, too. Do what I do, bro, and lock yourself in your room and play for hours. It helps. Were you just going to play rythym before?

Yeah I used to take a whole load of crap from people when I was at school about listening to thrash. So when I neared the end of my days there I decided to blast some out just to piss everyone off, ah the good old days :p

I think there was a lot of Reign in Blood in there, some Anthrax too I think.

I allowed you to begin with then read your profile and got scared :p
If you add me again I won't block it this time, I promise ;)
I think it was also that comment about rapists that kinda scared me too, then again my msn is named after a serial killer

Kids at my school used to hassle me as well. Then I brought my guitar to school one day and played about two minutes of a Coroner song (D.O.A.), and everyone was like, "Man, that sounded wicekd!" I chuckled and told them that that was a bit of the thrash metal that I normally listen to, and the stuff you look down on. They kinda took that as a slap in the face I guess, and didn't talk smack ever again.

I checked out that new Destruction song. It sounds solid, and I like the subtle use of blastbeats. This looks like a promising upcoming album from Schmier & Pals.

I also received two Razor bootlegs and a Torture Squad demo yesterday, because I'm cool like that.

NP: Nailgunner - Whatever track one on their demo is
I used to have trouble with sweeping, too. Do what I do, bro, and lock yourself in your room and play for hours. It helps. Were you just going to play rythym before?
Aye, I've always worshipped people like Dave Mustaine, and I've always been a riff kinda guy. My first guitar had the most horrible action above the 12th fret that you could imagine (warped beyond repair), so playing riffs became habit. Still, now that I'm actually playing some leads, i dig it. I'm doing the sound engineering for the school play all week, so when im in that sound booth im going to be getting a couple hours of it in every night, not to mention the playing i do while home.

RCA 05-03-2005 05:48 PM

Sweeping isn't as hard as a lot of people make it out to be. Just keep at it!

I'm not saying its hard, i know that is actually a very easy alternative to alternate picking on arpeggio runs, its just that i am usually too lazy for this ****. I should have it down by Friday.

TheCrimsonKing 05-03-2005 08:11 PM

I would like to join your thrash mafioso haha.

Hmm perhaps Titans of thrash (RIB) Reign in blood is that cool?

I'm going to seriously need to see them sometime. I think they should reunite with Gustafson some day.

Weird, one track apart on the same album. I seriously love Persistence of Time, an excellent, if not underrated melodic thrash album.
