Best Rock in Rio song = The Clansmen IMO. I've never even heard the album version, so its totally fresh for me.
I agree, I love the riffs, the solos, the drumming and the vocal variations that Bruce can do. Tis now one of my fav's :thumb:
Something I noticed is that Steve is the only one using a wireless setup, Dave/Janick/Adrian all are corded. Any specific reason why, doesn't anybody know?
Becouse steve is so much back and forth that he would just mess up the cables...

dave/janick and adrian tend to just dance around at their sides...
Blood Brothers @ Rio is probably one of the best performances I've seen. By any band.
i couldn't agree more. and don't frigin bash me cuz my name is about blink..I'm a hardcore maiden fan to.

Stew_Blink 03-04-2005 06:55 PM

I like Steve And Bruce best for writing songs..although when Adrian does it it's usually really awesome. Also I think for the one song Nick wrote, it was awesome.

thelittledrummerboy 03-04-2005 09:52 PM

Thread getting a wee bit boring now. Does anyone have any new topics to discuss or activities to do?

vashts80 03-04-2005 09:54 PM

Uhh...Blood on the World's Hands is awesome and The Clansman is the best song on VXI. That is all.

Deth 03-04-2005 09:56 PM

Is the X factor and Virtual 11 worth getting? I have most of their other albums but don't know whether to bother with those 2.

You probably know that Blaze Bayley does vocals for these albums which isn't saying anything bad, but there's no one like Bruce. If you wanted to complete your studio album collection, then I'd say yeah get 'em... but it basically comes down to your taste. Some people like the X Factor better than Virtual XI, some the other way around.. and then there are those who don't particularily care for either. X Factor has a dark theme to it... Sign of the Cross, Lord of the Flies, and my favorite on the album 2 a.m. stand out to me. Virtual XI can seem a little repetitive with songs like Don't look to the eyes of a stranger, but the clansman and the angel and the gambler (some may disagree) are standouts.. my favorite is When two worlds collide. I'd get Maiden's "classics" from the 80s and BNW & DoD 1st and then maybe look into getting them. Both Virtual XI and X Factor are better than NPFTD in my opinion. Buy them if you're looking for money to spend.

Can anyone tell me what albums Bruce didn't sing on, including live albums? Its just a curiosity thing.
Can anyone tell me what albums Bruce didn't sing on, including live albums? Its just a curiosity thing.
Iron Maiden(Paul Di'annio)
Killers(Paul Di'Annio)
The X Factor (Blaze Bayley)
Virtual XI (Blaze Bayley)

No live albums..(that still are for sale that is...) there where Live +One...

GurS 03-05-2005 07:35 AM

Also, there was a live EP released on the Killers tour called "Maiden Japan" that was Bruce-less

GurS 03-05-2005 07:46 AM
I thought Bruce and Steve wrote most of the lyrics...
Adrian is fairly prolific too...he wrote some of the best stuff (Passchendale and The Wicker Man are both music by Adrian Smith, Words by Bruce Dickenson)
Paschendale was Smith/Harris.

I'd definatley say that nowadays, it's 'Arry, H and Bruce who do most of the song writing, though Jannick does a lot too. They all have different writing styles, but they work amazing together - it was the Harris/Smith/Dickenson combo that wrote most of 7th son. Dave doesn't write too much - from memory, he wrote Charlotte the Harlot on the S/T, but didn't write anything on Killers or NOTB. I don't think that Jannick wrote many good songs before today's line up - he wrote part of both The Apparition AND Fear is the Key. However, he DID help to write Montsegur

GurS 03-05-2005 07:48 AM

Oh, and best live performance by any band ever = Still Life, Maiden England
Uhh...Blood on the World's Hands is awesome and The Clansman is the best song on VXI. That is all.
What about the Como Estais Amigos? The solo bit is awesome, I love it when they do that kinda of thing :thumb:

Stevie 03-05-2005 07:59 AM

Is the weird talking at the start of Still Life Nicko by any chance?

GurS 03-05-2005 08:04 AM

Yep, it's Nicko speaking backwards (i.e. backtracked)
Becouse steve is so much back and forth that he would just mess up the cables...

i thought (when i watched rock in rio) that all of them were wireless? because of the way adrian came running on playing the intro to the wicker man, and i didnt notice any cables

vashts80 03-05-2005 11:28 AM

Nah, all of them but Steve are wireless. You can tell when Steve runs all around the stage with nothing, but Adrian/Dave/Janick move around and you see the cables by their sides :x

vashts80 03-05-2005 01:34 PM

I've started to like NOTB (the song) a lot more. The scream at the beginning is pawnage.

GurS 03-05-2005 01:46 PM

123

Stevie 03-05-2005 01:52 PM

I never really saw NOTB as great.

vashts80 03-05-2005 01:58 PM

I need to get the singles with Listen with Nicko on them. I have the Women in Uniform single, Listen with Nicko II is fun.

Josh 03-05-2005 04:55 PM
