how about traveling? like a long distance trip, but spending hardly any money.
i think trains might be one of the cheapest ways, and for food you can always dumpster dive, but what else? like places to sleep and such. and advice on that? |

where would you be allowed to pitch the tent? i think most places it'd be illegal, except camping grounds. but if you're traveling by train, you won't come by any camping grounds. |
I've got to say, you DIYers can make some nice stuff, but a lot of you can't spell worth ****.

These holidays me and my friends are going to be going for a riding trip. Roughly 400km on bikes. We will probably be eating LOTS of tin food and dumspter diving, and if we can take our guitars we will busk for money for food. So anyone got tips about travelling on a bike? Any do's and don't? And Sr800, you could always try trainhopping..If you have a train yard near you go peep around every now and then and get to know the place and how it works. Trainhopping would be the cheapest and funnest option. Unless you get caught..then you're fucked. |
Awesome, now I won't have to buy condoms anymore :)
Eran can you please please make me a Dead Boys stencil? I've tried and failed many times :(
Sorry Jon, only just saw this post. Get me the link for the design, I'll give it a crack. |
GUYS! What material do I use to make a reuseable stencil?
Cardboard was crazy hard. |
I use sugar paper/paper card, or whatever you wanna call it. Not quite as thick as cardboard, but not quite as thin as paper.
|
Posterboard.
Man, if you lived anywhere near me which you don't, I would totally give you some. Since I always have connections to the weirdest stuff, this friend of my parents dropped off some really great to use posterboard like material for me to make stencils with. There's just way too much of it, I'll never need that much. |
Posterboard is easy to find, it's at Staples!

omg squatta punx, railroad man u can bury me in the sand, you can see me when mah train rolls through town. what did the hobo say to tha bum: got some cider, swill me some cause i've never been so thirsty in my lifeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I've never seen a ridable train in any of the yards around here... aah well. http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/3738/1ej3.jpg Thats the bike I'll probably be riding. It needs a fair amount of work first though. I need to find some new wheels and find a new thing to go on the back wheel...where the chain goes. Im gonna take some milkcrates and attach them to the back and I know how to carry my bag, but any tips for carrying an acoustic in a hard case? I don't want it flying off when I'm riding along main roads. |

Make sure there's still room to be able to see behind you, or get one of those side-mirror dealies you can attach to your handle but that can be taken off afterwards. Also, take lots of puncture repair kits. |
