I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone wants to be the one going against the grain. It ends up that everyone is going against the grain.
That's very well said. And we do agree a lot, our views on Tool are quite similar. But I must say that Mozart > Beethoven by a long shot. |
Yeah, that was very well said. It should be stickied :D
Yeah, I noticed that a few days ago about Metallica. I guess the same goes for Petrucci, and numerous other things.
did you just reply to your own post??? |
That's very well said.

But I must say that Mozart > Beethoven by a long shot.
Mozart wrote brilliant peices in a matter of minutes, whereas Beethoven took time to write the perfect peice everytime. Also Beethoven gave birth to the Romantic period of music. |

 I was thinking the same thing. |

The romanticism thing is the only thing I like about Beethoven better than Mozart. Mozart was a downright genius though. Same goes for Beethoven, but I don't know if his musical entity could reach that of Mozart, especially since, like you said, he was able to compose miraculous pieces in minutes. |
did you just reply to your own post???
Yeah, I said that about the people in the Guitar polls talking down to Kirk and James. I was thinking along the same things as letmypeopleho, but couldn't get it right. He did very well however. |
did you just reply to your own post???
I've done that but only because I was pwning someone and they wouldn't answer back. |
I just popped in Undertow...I never give this album the credit it deserves until I'm actually listening to it.
/useless post. |

/useless post.
I'm waiting to buy Undertow when a good used price comes up. My money is to tight for non-used CDs. :( |
I only like the first 4 songs and flood off of undertow... the rest are kinda like filler tracks... along the lines of "(-) ions"...
|
Here you go, Blind. Enjoy :) (available to anyone who wants it, also).
Dream Theater - This Dying Soul http://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0ORHU9RZA7UM13K2YTTDUV0515
That song's awesome. |

I hear you on that one, it's gotten to the point where if I don't have some kind of gift card to a CD store, I just buy used. It's actually really helped me expand me CD collection by a great deal. But it'll definately be worth it to buy Undertow. It's a great CD, although I didn't appreciate it as much until I had listened to Aenima and Lateralus. |

Mozart seemed to be a phenomenon, like something that God amputated off of himself, and put on the earth to create music. Beethoven has more songs that I enjoy, he also is the one that made tension (diminished seventh chords) more popular. |

Same here...what's in your opinion a "good" used price? Because unless it's lower than $3.00 I'm a little disapointed, especially after having found some for like 99 cents. |
I just popped in Undertow...I never give this album the credit it deserves until I'm actually listening to it.
/useless post.
You know, I listened to it again not too long ago, and I have to say, it's a great album. Not as good as Aenima or Lateralus, but has many excellent songs. I take back what I said about liking it less than Opiate. |

My favorite song on that album is 4 degrees. I was actually going to mention how unappreciated that album is a while ago. |
Prison Sex and 4degrees make that cd. I can listen to those over and over again and not get tired of them.

For me it's the kind of album that I don't think about being great unless I'm listening to it (in all fairness, it is WAY overshadowed by the greatness of Aenima and Lateralus). Still an awesome disc, though. I like it better than Opiate. |

I think it's just as good as Aenima and Lateralus, just harder to appreciate because they hadn't perfected their songwriting skills at that point. |

All from this local place in my town. And as a result, I've definitely bought more albums this past year than in the rest of my life. |
I need to start picking up albums off Amazon. I saw Salival for 35 bucks in 'very good' condition last night. I decided I'd rather whore the album from some of my mx buddies. (Thx to Madey and ThePatient)
Now, Undertow is the only peice of Tool material I have yet to obtain. |
For me it's the kind of album that I don't think about being great unless I'm listening to it.
That was the problem I had when I first got it. At the time, I had listened to Aenima a lot, and was on a Lateralus (my all-time favorite album) frenzy, so it was easy to put aside and not really realize how good it was unless I was listening to it. |

You're welcome. I was wondering if you got it since it ended up being like the last post on the page. :D |

And I got that album first because I loved Sober so much, even though Schism was the song that got me into them. So when I bought it, the first song kinda threw me off because Sober is such a dark, morose song. The first song is more of a metallic, riff-driven thing and not as dark. I threw it aside, and then I got Lateralus as birthday gift and fell in love with that, then Aenima. I went back and found that I loved Undertow as well. |

Did you get my message on the last page? About how You Lied wasn't in the ZIP. I got it from Madey though, who is quite badarse. :thumb: |

I got Undertow last so I didn't really have that problem. I just think that it almost never gets the appreciation it deserves. Prison Sex's outro gives me chills, anyone else? And 4 degrees is definately one of their best songs to date. |
