Mac owns your soul, mate.

Steerpike 08-19-2006 10:47 PM

Mac tends to have great software, but they're not as great about hardware.

How exactly does one convert the GuitarPro file to an mp3? It would make things much easier on me.

Deth 08-20-2006 12:19 PM

Only way I can think of is by recording it in Audacity and then converting it. I just tried doing it and my Audacity has decided to boycott any function that's useful though.

New Falconer leaked!

Txus 08-20-2006 03:33 PM

I've been getting into Running Wild lately, Under Jolly Roger is a VERY good album.

Nepenthe 08-20-2006 05:12 PM

Just so you all know, the new Falconer is sensational. They've taken a much folkier approach with this one, and it works out. There's alot more keyboards involved, but it's still predominantly riff based. It's awesome, I suggest it to all.

Riva 08-20-2006 07:49 PM

Are the choruses as catchy/folky as on their S/T?

Nepenthe 08-20-2006 07:55 PM

Much folkier than anything they've ever done, but I'm torn on the catchy part. A few of the choruses are Falconer-grade catchy material, but some of them aren't. None of the songs are bad, just not too heavy on the catchiness. Regardless, it's an excellent cd. After three listens since I found it a few days ago, I'd put it tied for second with Chapters From A Vale Forlorn, and right behind Sceptre Of Deception as their best.

I miss Gobel, but Blad sounds just as good as he did on the earlier stuff. And I really enjoy the more prominant keyboards.

I will say, though, that Legend And The Lore (from the new one) is the folkiest song they've ever made, and one of their best overall. Other than that, the best tracks are Northwind, Waltz With The Dead (catchiest chorus on the album), Catch The Shadows, Tower Of The Queen, Long Gone By, and Home Of The Knave. The first half of the cd is amazing, but while still good, the second half isn't quite as good as the first. Home Of The Knave is the only song that really stands out on the latter half, but if the whole cd was as good as the first this would be tied with Sceptre as their greatest.

Riva 08-20-2006 08:32 PM

Awesome. I'll check it out when they release it.

Ah man, I haven't listened to them in forever. Excellent band, though.

Nepenthe 08-20-2006 10:05 PM

I don't think Rolf will ever top Under Jolly Roger. That title song kicks almost too much ***.

Steerpike 08-20-2006 10:07 PM

I'd have to say that my favorite Running Wild track is Dragonmen.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-20-2006 10:09 PM

My favourite would either be Under Jolly Roger, Black Hand Inn or White Buffalo.

I checked out some Fates Warning recently, it's good stuff.

Nepenthe 08-20-2006 10:12 PM

I enjoy Fates Warning quite a bit.

Under Jolly Roger is by and far my favorite. It's too kickass. In fact, I just started downloading the album again haha.

Foger haha.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-20-2006 10:21 PM

Yeah you should get your collection back and get back on Soulseek omg. >:[

I really want a DVD burner. I'm paranoid about my external shitting itself and me losing my music.

Nepenthe 08-20-2006 10:23 PM

I'd highly suggest making that purchase. It would be well worth it in the case it does.

Man, every time I start getting my collection back, the damn thing crashes again. It waits until I have like 40 albums and then just crashes haha.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-20-2006 10:25 PM

Well, I do have the stuff on my iPod.

I think in the meantime I will just clear my iPod and put the stuff I don't own on there.

pate 08-20-2006 11:21 PM

Burning backup DVDs is the way to go.

Stormrider 08-20-2006 11:43 PM

I have all the stuff that I would mind losing in a HD crash backed up on 3 MP3 cd's :)

ArcLite 08-20-2006 11:45 PM

Anyone have Gamma Ray's album Majestic? I picked it up the other day after hearing "My Temple" and I can't stop listening to it. One could say it's a little generic, but I think it's still well done.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-20-2006 11:47 PM

The only Gamma Ray I have is Powerplant.

I've heard 3 or 4 songs but I agree with you. Pretty decent release for Gamma Ray (Kai owns them all <3)

I've got it, but I have almost all of Gamma Ray's releases.

Lord Abortion 08-22-2006 10:45 AM

I have Powerplant and Somewhere out in space.
Both are pretty great.

Tyr 08-22-2006 12:27 PM

Those are two of their best albums, if you ask me.

ExitWound 08-22-2006 03:08 PM

I'm more partial to the Ralf Scheepers days of Gamma ray in terms of the music style. The new stuff is amazing too, with Majestic being my favorite of the new era. But it sounds like the music hasn't progressed much since Land of the Free.

Tyr 08-22-2006 03:25 PM

That's true, but I still like Kai Hansen era Gamma Ray more than the Ralf Scheepers era.

Nepenthe 08-22-2006 05:01 PM

Honestly, I don't think Gamma Ray's sound has changed since Keeper Of The Seven Keys Pt.1 (oooh burn).

Stoic 08-22-2006 05:02 PM

This is why they own :D

pate 08-22-2006 05:03 PM

Ouch.

@Orrie: Yes indeed it is.
