Did Mark and Tom seem very friendly with each other at that show?
They acted how they acted at all the other shows. Apart from the first tour i saw them begining of 04, they said nothing to each other, end of 04 tour, there was a lot of banter and they acted like usual.

Dead Star 05-24-2006 02:27 PM

oshi I'm seeing AVA support the Foo Fighters in London.

cobert 05-24-2006 02:41 PM

Tom is a tool now. AVA is garbage.

Haha, i'm still have one of the higer post counts in this thread, and i havent posted in it for such a long time.

Bad Blood 05-24-2006 02:42 PM

Haha, I bet Tom isn't very happy supporting all the time now. He used to always be a big headline act.

Get Fighted 05-24-2006 02:52 PM

It was really weird to see him 3rd-to-last at GIAN. But for most bands to play that high would be a dream.

DJ Ducksauce 05-24-2006 05:02 PM

Back to the Travis topic, he was my least favorite out of blink. I would have preferred Scott way over him just because Scott fits with the band so much better.

Bad Blood 05-24-2006 05:03 PM

But it's Tom Delonge, he's already famous.

For a smaller band not many people have heard of, yeah, that's good.

DJ Ducksauce 05-24-2006 05:06 PM

Everyone has heard of AVA though. I mean I see tons of people with them on their myspaces and such. It's insane. They're probably one of the most hyped up bands before anyone had even heard anything by them.

Dead Star 05-24-2006 05:08 PM

AVA is possibly the most overhyped band, ever.

Bad Blood 05-24-2006 05:10 PM

Yeah, but only to people who understand stuff...

To be fair, most of Tom's fans bow down to his feet and think everything he does is amazing whatever it would be. So they wouldn't think it's overhyped, which, by majority, means it isn't overhyped, which is bad bacause it is :)

theclash91 05-24-2006 05:12 PM

i really like the drumming in the new AVA cd it's not much of a difference with Travis, except he's not showing off as much

Bad Blood 05-24-2006 05:13 PM

I tihnk the drumming in AvA goes really well. I love the sound of them too. It's different.

bassist_for_a_band 05-24-2006 05:24 PM

It may have been said before... But I think the only real good talent in blink was Travis. Mark and Tom were really good and knew enough of what they were doing... But I don't know if they were a match for Travis. It still sucks that they went on hiatus and all though

Bad Blood 05-24-2006 05:29 PM

They all had lots of talent. Mark and Tom had amazing talent to make pop punk the way they did. They practically helped it evolve.

On the other hand, Travis had more technical ability.

DJ Ducksauce 05-24-2006 05:30 PM

Yeah, Travis had more talent playing wise, but I did not like him at all. Mark and Tom were awesome. They were good at making songs and making them good songs even though they weren't difficult.

Pazz 05-24-2006 07:32 PM

Travis had the most talent of all 3 of them, but he doesn't have a whole lot of talent. He does the same thing in so many songs.

Untitled 05-24-2006 07:46 PM

I think if your talking talent wise, Marks writing ripped shreds out Trav's drumming.

Pazz 05-24-2006 07:49 PM

Well I meant instrument talent.

yourstruly 05-24-2006 08:40 PM

Tom's quite a good guitarist. Some of his riffs are hard as.

DJ Ducksauce 05-24-2006 08:51 PM

They're good, but they're not that complicated to play really. They're good by his standards though.

ie:
Wasting Time
Boring

bassist_for_a_band 05-24-2006 08:58 PM

Yea if anything, they didn't really show what they could do... Like my band's covered Dammit, First Date, and All The Small Things, and touched into What's My Age Again... None of it's really technical or difficult. I personally think that if they wanted to, they could mix it up and make some sweet stuff... But hey, whatever works for them.

yourstruly 05-24-2006 10:23 PM

Alot of there pre EOTS stuff is a little bit technical on guitar, i'm struggling to play some of it. It took me a while to get the intro for What's my age again.

form 05-24-2006 10:29 PM

haha

punkrocker-182 05-25-2006 12:23 AM

I got All of EOTS learned exept wendy clear.

Bad Blood 05-25-2006 02:25 AM

Wendy Clear is one of the easiest songs on there.

DJ Ducksauce 05-25-2006 06:18 AM

You can learn a lot of blink guitar just by ear.

Dead Star 05-25-2006 06:21 AM

You can learn a lot of the basslines by ear too, I can play through the whole EOTS album :D

DJ Ducksauce 05-25-2006 06:25 AM

Well yeah, Mark really doesn't have any complicated lines really.

punkrocker-182 05-25-2006 11:32 AM
Wendy Clear is one of the easiest songs on there.
i know im just to lazy to get the tabs.

Get Fighted 05-25-2006 01:35 PM

How long have you been playing?

Also who agrees that The Gift is the best AVA song?

Untitled 05-25-2006 03:04 PM

Anyone agree that AVA have realy crappy song names?

Kif 05-25-2006 03:27 PM

I like "The War" and "Valkleajilfhjeailf Missile", but the rest are crap.

So my friend went into HMV the other day, and he saw The Mark, Tom and Travis Show. He bought it since it's out of print and he needed it. Either way, he went back there today, and they had like 10 copies of it. Is it being repressed or something?

Untitled 05-25-2006 03:30 PM

Thats odd, ill check the HMV in manchester, its HUGE, if they have it in there, then maybe so.

There nothing on the site.
Tom DeLonge is super-psyched about his new band, Angels & Airwaves, and its debut album. That's why on the day "We Don't Need To Whisper" was released, he's turned into a human quote-machine, according to MTV.com.

"When we were making this record, I remember one night, it was about 2 a.m. and I went into the studio — which was in my house — and it was pitch black and I put the record on and listened to it, and I had this overwhelming rush of emotions," he said. "I was like, 'Oh my God, this is going to be huge,' and I started having these panic attacks thinking about every country in the world wanting us there multiple times. Conquering the globe is a pretty large endeavor."

And you can't blame him for being excited. After all, Whisper has been an endeavor almost a year in the making, and in the time since he first announced he was starting the record, he's been peppering the media with statements of its sheer awesomeness.

"People ask me, 'Is this the next Box Car Racer album?,' and I say, 'Kind of.' And people ask me if this is the next Blink record, and I say, 'Kind of.' But it's also the beginning of something completely new," DeLonge laughed. "This band contains an inner energy and a spiritual awakening that's kind of magical. And it's so full of positive energy that I think that whoever comes to the shows or listens to the album and wants to become a part of it, it will happen to them. I think it's going to be a sort of magical, organic thing that happens with anybody that is willing to have that kind of feeling in their life."

A&A will launch an American tour alongside Taking Back Sunday next month. What can fans expect when they come to an Angels show? You probably can guess Tom DeLonge's answer.

"These shows have been incredible. ... They're so much different than Blink shows," he said. "They're anthemic and heroic. There's a huge group of people coming to feel the exact same thing at the exact same minute. And it really feels like an ascension to heaven. People are lifting off the ground. There are people crying, and there are these battle flags flying in the wind. It's incredible."
First bold: What a douche.
Second-: What the hell?
Thirdbold: What a douche.

Dead Star 05-25-2006 04:34 PM

Tom is turning into gheyness.

Haven't listened to them enough to care really.

Kif 05-25-2006 05:16 PM

I'm ignoring Tom Delonge's antics at the moment. He's clearly over-enthusiastic about this, but still, that's no reason to act like he's a prophet or something.

punkrocker-182 05-25-2006 09:39 PM
How long have you been playing?
